Video game debutYu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation
Taylor, Tristan

Tristan Taylor is a Duelist Construct of Tristan Taylor from the Yu-Gi-Oh! series in the Virtual Dueling System. He is also the opponent that the player faced in Stage 3-1 of the Classic Campaign mode in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation. The player has to defeat him in a Duel in order to unlock the next stage and progress Campaign mode.

Appearance[edit]

As a Duelist Construct, his appearance is based on Tristan Taylor, and the outfit is what he wore during his time at Domino High School in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.

Etymology[edit]

His given name "Tristan" means "noise", reflecting his upbeat and boastful personality. His surname "Taylor" comes from the occupation tailor, a person who makes, repairs, or alters clothing professionally, especially suits and men's clothing. His Spanish given name is "Tristán" instead of "Tristan".

Rewards[edit]

There are a total of six rewards that the player can earn and received after defeating the Duel Construct in a Duel. The first two rewards are cards that come from the Duel Construct's Deck and the third reward is a recipe for their Deck. Then the fourth, fifth and sixth rewards repeated the same process of the three earlier rewards, but in a harder difficulty with a different Deck. In addition, the sixth reward will allow the player to have the Duel Construct's avatar and the ability to Duel them anytime between the two difficulty.

Deck[edit]

In the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, during the Duelist Kingdom arc, the only known cards that were seen in Tristan's Deck are "Cyber Commander" and "Lava Battleguard".

In Duel Generation, the Duelist Construct plays a Deck called Commander which uses the card "Cyber Commander" from Tristan's Deck. This Deck main strategy is to use Level 2 or lower Normal Monster to swarm the field and either activate "The Law of the Normal" or use them as material to Xyz Summon "Gachi Gachi Gantetsu" or "Number 96: Dark Mist". "The Law of Normal" can only be activated when there are 5 Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters under its control and this effect discard the entire hand and destroy all cards on the field, except for Level 2 or lower Normal Monsters. "Gantetsu" can increases 200 ATK/DEF of all monster on their field as long as "Gantetsu" have material attached, and "Dark Mist" can halves a monster's ATK and gains half of that ATK for itself during battle.

After the player defeat Tristan's Commander Deck three times, the next difficulty and Deck is unlocked. This Deck features the cards from the "Legendary Six Samurai" series which Tristan didn't used in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series.

The Legendary Six Deck focuses on using the "Six Samurai" archetype to swarm the field for a offensive approach and to activates the Spells/Traps for a defensive approach. There are some "Six Samurai" monsters that can Special Summon themselves from the hand to increase the field presence and made the Spells/Traps to be likely activated. These monsters are "Elder of the Six Samurai", "Grandmaster of the Six Samurai" and "Legendary Six Samurai - Kizan". Though "Elder" can only Special Summon itself if the opponent controls a monster while the user controls no monsters, and "Grandmaster" or "Kizan" needs a "Six Samurai" monster on their side of field to be Special Summoned by their effect, but "Kizan" needs a "Six Samurai" with a different name on the field. In addition, "Kizan" gains 300 ATK and DEF while the user have two or more other "Six Samurai" monsters on the field. The Spells/Traps that can provide protection like "Six Strike - Triple Impact", "Temple of the Six", "Musakani Magatama", and "Six Style - Dual Wield" needs a "Six Samurai" monsters in order to activate their effects. "Triple Impact" can be activated if the user have 3 or more face-up "Six Samurai" monsters on the field, and the user can destroy all face-up monsters, face-up Spells/Traps or Set Spells/Traps on the opponent's field. "Temple" is a Field Spell that can gain Bushido Counters each time a "Six Samurai" monsters is Summoned, and the opponent's monsters lose 100 ATK for each Bushido Counters. "Musakani Magatama" can negate any destruction effect by negating its effect and destroying that card and "Dual Wield" can return 2 of the opponent's cards on the field to the hand if there is only 1 "Six Samurai" monster in Attack Position. Also, this Deck does use the non-"Legendary Six" monsters like "Irou", "Kamon", "Yaichi", and "Zanji" that can protect themselves by destroying another "Six Samurai" and while the user have a "Six Samurai" monsters with a different name on the field, these monsters can provide a destruction effect depending on what is written in their card text.
