• In Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel 9: "The Cards with Teeth (Part 1)", "Blackland Fire Dragon" had its first appearance in a minor Duel between Yugi Mutou and Katsuya Jonouchi at their school. Yugi Summoned this monster and destroyed Jonouchi's "Zombie".
• Later in Duel 9, in the first Duel between Kaiba and Yugi, Yugi Summoned this card to destroy Kaiba's "Ryu-Kishin".

• Chazz Princeton's manga counterpart used this card.

Anime

Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei)

• In Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei) episode 0033: "Clash! The Strongest Monster", this card was played in the duel was between Jonouchi and Honda. Jonouchi who played this card. Honda responded with Zombie (card) and it actually managed to destroy the dragon due to the Field Advantage.
• In Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei) episode 0088: "The Four Game Masters Finally Stir", Yugi Mutou dueled a nurse puppet that was controlled by Ridley Sheldon. Yugi summoned this monster, but the duel was interrupted part-way through. Later it seems that this monster destroyed because it doesn't appear in the end board.
• In Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei) episode 01515: "Eerie Woman!! Unable to Transform", Yugi Mutou had a duel against his gradfather Sugoroku.Sugoroku Mutou summoned this card in Attack position. But Yugi was distracted, and jumped quickly to take a Risa Kageyama's telephone call. The duel ended without a winner. Later this card was seen when Risa Kageyama look through Yugi's cards, asking a monster card as a present.
• In Yu-Gi-Oh! (Toei) episode 02020: "Come Out!! The Strongest and Final Trump Card", Yugi Mutou and Anzu Mazaki watched a mechanic version of this card in a park. This mechanical dragon was used by Kaiba to trap Anzu and force Yugi to duel Daimon.

Duelist Kingdom

• In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode 0011: "The Heart of the Cards", Yugi Muto uses this card during his Duel against Joey Wheeler. After he summons this card, Yugi uses this card to attack and destroy Joey's "Kagemusha of the Blue Flame", winning him the Duel.

Virtual World

• In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode 109109: "Settling the Score, Part 2", this card appears in a flashback Leichter has when he explains to Seto Kaiba that his treachery began when Gozaburo Kaiba gave him a large amount of dollars to test Seto's business skills.

Grand Championship

• In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode 186186: "Unwanted Guest - Part 2", Yami Yugi uses this card during his Duel against the KC DuelTek 760 while the former was using Rick's Deck. He draws this card and five other Dragon-type monsters via the effect of "Heart of the Underdog". Yugi later discards this card and the five other Dragon-type Normal Monsters that he drew, so that "Spirit Ryu" would gain 1000 ATK for each Dragon discarded.
• In Yu-Gi-Oh! episode 193193: "A Brawl in a Small Town - Part 2", Vivian Wong uses this card during her Duel against Yami Yugi. She discards this card from her Deck to the Graveyard via the effect of "Flying Dragon Whirl".
