I am leaving this message so you can look at the Heartland Museum article you or the other admins can improve it I don't mind I just need your like or improvement on the article please

--Torimay24 (talkcontribs) 05:08, January 22, 2016 (UTC)Torimay24

I am leaving this message so you can look at the ZW - Lightning Blade (anime)ZW - Lightning Blade article you or the other admins can improve it I don't mind I just need your like or improvement on the article please

--Torimay24 (talkcontribs) 05:26, January 22, 2016 (UTC)Torimay24

The ZW - Lightning Blade (anime)ZW - Lightning Blade article was a mistake article because she put ZW - Lightning Blade instead of ZW - Lightning Blade (anime) in the Tori Meadows article before I fixed it in the Tori Meadows article because who edited and added the rest of Tori Meadows' article messed up by putting ZW - Lightning Blade (anime)ZW - Lightning Blade instead of ZW - Lightning Blade (anime) in the Tori Meadows article and no I didn't copy and paste the ZW - Lightning Blade (anime) article to make the ZW - Lightning Blade (anime)ZW - Lightning Blade article but you can delete the article if you or the other admins want to delete it

--Torimay24 (talkcontribs) 05:40, January 22, 2016 (UTC)Torimay24

Fixed for you. Honestly, that was a very simple fix. You just put in "|" in between the article name and the link name. Example: ZW - Lightning Blade You could've looked at the wiki code, since the coding for ZW - Tornado Bringer's anime page was right next to it. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 06:09, January 22, 2016 (UTC)

thanks anyways but what about the Heartland Museum is it okay or does it need improvement

Blue Flame SwordsmanEdit

I really am not trying to violate the rules. Thought the second post was pretty appropriate. Since it wasn't can you at least clarify if its correct or not? --Jspencer93 (talkcontribs) 22:05, January 31, 2016 (UTC)

See your talk page. I posted your answer way before you made this message. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 22:06, January 31, 2016 (UTC)

Will do. Never got the notification oddly.--Jspencer93 (talkcontribs) 22:07, January 31, 2016 (UTC)

Phantom-Edit

I was hoping people would hold off on the rename, but now that it's done, it's more likely people are going to try and guess the TCG names for the Spell/Trap Cards by renaming them, only to be incorrect. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 04:45, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

So should I just move it back? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 04:47, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

HowdyEdit

Was curious as to why my comment about Beige being similar to a Cenobite from Hellraiser was deleted. I wasn't stating a fact as most don't? If I can't say that it may or may not look closely similar than the "Jinzo" Trivia page and "Dark Necrofear" page are also incorrect and need to be adjusted as well.

Bladeisbest (talkcontribs) 06:20, February 2, 2016 (UTC)Bladeisbest

We don't do comparisons of cards to other media unless it's intentional. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 06:21, February 2, 2016 (UTC)

So the Jinzo and Dark Necrofear pages are intentional references to those characters? Says who? Dark Necrofear looks nothing like Hellraiser's Cenobites...lol. Not sure why that is up. Confused me.

CongratsEdit

Dang, I 've been away longer than I thought. In any case congrats to becoming an admin. Shardsilver (talkcontribs) 17:42, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

Thanks. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:43, February 15, 2016 (UTC)

QuintonEdit

Can I ask which official website?? Because anyone who can hear can hear he and aporia have the exact same voice actor.

Or is it that aporia' voice actor isn't Jason Griffith because they definetely have the same voice actor— This unsigned comment was made by YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs)

http://www.yugioh.com/characters/quinton I stated it right in the edit summary. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:41, February 23, 2016 (UTC)
But anyone can hear that he and aporia have the same voice actor, it's simply called hearing. That's all I'm saying— This unsigned comment was made by YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs)
This is the official Yu-Gi-Oh site we're talking about. We're going with official sources here. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:44, February 23, 2016 (UTC)
Well can I ask where the official source is that states Jason Griffith is the voice of aporia?? Because either way they do have the same voice actor, from what I've seen there's no official source that says he voiced aporia so maybe it was this jamal nahum kahn— This unsigned comment was made by YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs)
I wasn't around at the time that edit was made, so I can't speak for that. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:49, February 23, 2016 (UTC)

So am I allowed to change aporia's voice actor to Jamal Nahum Kahn? Because there's no official source that doesn't say he didn't and anyone can hear those two have the same actor Do you think ultimate kuriboh may know?

And now I stand corrected. Though I didn't watch most of 5D's, Aporia sounds like Primo:http://www.yugioh.com/characters/primo. Also, sign your posts with 4 tildes in the future. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:54, February 23, 2016 (UTC)

But he does sound much more like Quinton than aporia all you have to to do is compare them (YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs) 17:56, February 23, 2016 (UTC))

Remember that voice actors have different ranges. Some characters may sound similar, but they're voiced by different people.ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 18:00, February 23, 2016 (UTC)

Yeah but they sound EXACTLY the same, all you have to do is watch them one after another and you'll hear it — This unsigned comment was made by YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs)

Doesn't matter. Just because two characters sound alike doesn't mean they're voiced by the same person. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 19:13, February 23, 2016 (UTC)

KuribanditEdit

Regarding my Kuribandit edit, Kuribandit is a difficult card to use until you know the combos. Using cards like Tour Guide and Scarm to get this, or even milling scarm to get this with Dante really helps. Dante generally can hold his own for a turn, so you could normal summon Kuribandit without worrying as well. It's super consistent, but if you feel that the exchangable engine is worthless (You could mill Scarm with Kuribandit and get another level 3; it gets ridiculous), you're the mod. MrVariant (talkcontribs) 23:44, March 15, 2016 (UTC)

it was mentioned on the preview for episode 97 on episode 96 ZabanyaGundam (talkcontribs) 16:29, March 16, 2016 (UTC)

Greetings,

I have a question regarding the Lava Golem. The card's effect: Tribute 2 monsters on your opponent's field to Special Summon this card on your opponent's field. What if I control a T.G. Blade Blaster? Is it possible for me to Banish the T.G. Blade Blaster (by using his effect) while he's trying to summon the Lava Golem, resulting in a failed summoning attempt? Thanks for your time.

When did cheesdude say the tooltips weren't going to be used anymore ?? I haven't heard anything about it (YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs) 15:22, April 6, 2016 (UTC))

JackEdit

Hi Gallade! I'm just checking I see you've said Ted Lewis will be coming back as Jack in Arc-V can I ask where you found this info?? If not it's fine— This unsigned comment was made by YuGi Mon Cards (talkcontribs)

Look at the ARC-V Jack's edit history, and you'll see why. Sign your talk page posts with 4 tildes (~~~~) in the future, please. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 15:18, April 14, 2016 (UTC)

MonarchEdit

Forgive me for asking but what is wrong with the page I posted about the monarch basis LordMReaper (talkcontribs) 17:38, April 16, 2016 (UTC)LordMReaper

As I already mentioned, something as trivial as that this doesn't deserve its own page. Very important things like deck archetypes and anime episodes deserve a main page. However, it's worth putting in the main Monarch page if you're so inclined to. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 18:36, April 16, 2016 (UTC)

Kozmo Dark LadyEdit

In the future, when renaming card articles (and subsequently their card images), could you please edit the page itself and correct the name in the OCG-TCG card image template too? Otherwise if you don't edit it, the File page will be forever listed as a page that needs to be renamed, because of the template's settings. In fact, it's easier to edit the File page first before renaming it, since the template provides an easy option for renaming (once it has the correct name). --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 06:19, April 22, 2016 (UTC)

Could've sworn that just renaming and updating the image worked just fine, though. Is removing part of the card template, then quickly reverting back to how it was how you've been fixing the page move glitches? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 06:26, April 22, 2016 (UTC)
Well, no, you only renamed the page to "KozmoDarklady-SHVI..." and didn't actually change the name entry in the template to "Kozmo Darklady" as well. You have to do both manually, and I'm saying it's easier to edit the name entry (on that file page) first, since the template gives you a quick option afterwards for renaming.
Semantic Media Wiki (SMW) registers card names weird after page moves, so yes, it's best to make the CT2 template inoperable first (by removing it entirely, or just removing one of the brackets) and revert, before actually renaming images. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 06:32, April 22, 2016 (UTC)
I'll have to give this a try next time I move something. I've been renaming the images right after a move, though, so thanks. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 06:38, April 22, 2016 (UTC)

HeartlandEdit

sorry for the wrong edit of Alexis Rhodes (ARC-V) but why heartland?

You Look Pale (talkcontribs) 09:06, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

This is because Heartland City is the arc name. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 09:28, May 4, 2016 (UTC)

but can you keep the image for episode 105 Article when summary is added unless you deleted it already? (The Twinke Star in the Skies 16:27, May 17, 2016 (UTC))

Hey Chaos! Thanks for the support at The Sledgehammer. But please take a look at Yusho's talk page and give your opinion there, since it makes two admins with different opinions. Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 20:46, May 17, 2016 (UTC)

SkypeEdit

What do you mean the Skype option is for mobile users only? I am on a PC.

Zzamaro (talkcontribs) 05:15, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

I removed the comma because I never saw it on my end. Maybe it's the computer you're using.ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:31, May 18, 2016 (UTC)

You are right. I checked some settings, and I think it was because I got an old auto-update from Skype I wasn't aware of. Plus I found it to be weird because most monsters have 2 zeros in the last 2 digits so I got confused when that 3999 I saw was the only number with the Skype. I am sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your time =)

how can you add level and rank logos please!Sakaki judai (talkcontribs) 20:14, May 29, 2016 (UTC)

I already told you to look at the article's page source. But if you insist: ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 20:17, May 29, 2016 (UTC)
Since they exist as SVG, shouldn't those be used? It seems Sakaki judai uploaded a weird PNG version of those. Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 20:43, May 29, 2016 (UTC)

Puns in trans_nameEdit

I understand they are puns. I was standardizing the trans_name category of those cards.

  • The trans_name category is for translating the names as their simplest meaning.
  • Puns should instead be noted in the Card Trivia page.

This is why the trans_name for Treeborn Frog is "Yomi Frog" instead of "to be reborn" and Dupe Frog's is "Demon-Wisdom Frog" instead of "to make a mistake". Please restore my edits. Thank you. HHT   07:26, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

I think it's better to keep the puns in the translated name in those cases. It wouldn't make sense if the "Toad" part was taken out. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 07:41, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
This is not a matter of opinion. Please do not undo all of my edits without asking for clarification, if you are unsure. That is very poor etiquette.
As mentioned, the trans_name category is a translation of the card's name, not the pun it is referring to. The purpose of Card Trivia pages is specifically for documenting interesting trivia such as puns. The trans_name category would be confusing if we added puns into it.
As for "カエル >> Toad", that is only a substitution that the TCG use to prevent archetype clashing. They are not proper translations and shouldn't be used for the trans_name category. For example, Void Ogre Dragon's trans_name is "Purgatory Dragon - Ogre Dragoon" even though the TCG substitution for 煉獄 is Void.
If you are still adamant about this, then feel free to consult another user like User:Cheesedude. Otherwise, please stop reverting my edits and restore them.  HHT   07:54, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
No can do about the reversions, I'm afraid. You overlooked one crucial detail about the TCG Frog/Toad disambiguation. Yes, they sound similar in Japanese but they differ in one character. Kaeru (Toad) has カ, while Gaeru (Frog) has ガ. It's a teensy character difference, so to speak. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 07:56, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
The Japanese word for Frog is 蛙 "kaeru". Its pronunciation changes into "gaeru" when it is attached to certain words, similar to how 人 is read as "hito" but 恋人 is read as "koibito". This is a common trait of Japanese grammar.
The actual Japanese word for Toad is 蟇蛙 "hikigaeru" (蟇 "hiki" for short) or 蝦蟇 "gama".
  • Japanese Wikipedia page for Frog [1]
  • Japanese Wikipedia page for Toad [2]  HHT   08:10, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather stick to the way things were. Wait for Cheesedude to say his 2 cents. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 08:12, July 12, 2016 (UTC)
The purpose of Card Trivia is to list puns when they cannot be integrated into the translated name. If there is a way to do, so they absolutely should be. That's only the entire reason we work with the Org on card names.
The Frog/Toad pages in particular are very difficult in this regard, so I have left them alone thus far. I intend to eventually have a discussion with Org members on how to translate each one. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 09:30, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

My NameEdit

Hey there, CG. I'm not sure if we've ever talked before, but I'm sure we've seen each other around a few times, especially since I manage the Scripted Duels section. I want to ask you, I've been using this username for ~6 years now. But it has typos in it, which makes logging in really hard. I wondered if you can edit my name. Philiosophical-Psychological Informist Togekiss (talkcontribs) 05:30, July 20, 2016 (UTC)

What name do you want? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:36, July 20, 2016 (UTC)
You have a couple of options for changing your username on Wikia. The first is to simply register a new account with the name you want and abandon your old account, though this means old edits will not be credited to your new account, any usergroups and user pages will still be associated with your old account, and the preferences on your new account (including your signature and email address) will have to be reconfigured to your liking.
The second option, which moves your edit history, usergroups, user pages, and preferences to your new name, is to request a rename. Note that you can only do this once, though, so be sure that the name you pick is one you're likely to be happy with in the future before sending in the request (and make absolutely sure that the spelling, punctuation, and capitalization is correct, since staff can't know what your intention was). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 08:08, July 20, 2016 (UTC)

Moving files after page renameEdit

Hey Chaos, thanks for your help, but I'm leaving the files for the end, to avoid multiple edits and history entries at pages like Set Card Galleries:The Dark Illusion (OCG-JP). I prefer moving them all only in the end. Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 17:57, July 22, 2016 (UTC)

BehaviourEdit

Chaos, be honest, am I getting too snarky in the edit summaries while I'm cleaning up after DragonEmperor? Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 04:56, July 25, 2016 (UTC)

A little bit, but not too damaging. Try to keep snarking to a minimum when you're pointing out mistakes. If all else fails, try to talk to DragonEmperor about his edits. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:10, July 25, 2016 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks. Sanokal K-T (talkcontribs) 09:29, July 25, 2016 (UTC)

SPYRALEdit

Thanks for editing the SPYRAL write up I did. How was it, by the way? When I mentioned that Super Agent has low ATK, I meant it more in the context of comparing it to the boss monsters in other archetypes (who could easily have about 600 or more ATK than Super Agent). My intention was not to compare Super Agent's ATK with other Level 4s. Perhaps there might have been a better way to convey that? (Lucafriz (talkcontribs) 05:55, July 27, 2016 (UTC))

Hi ChaosGallade, I am glad too tat Gladiator Beast's have finally gotten the support and push they have deserved for years. Been too long. Even Medallion of the Gladiator Beast would make the deck even more versatile. Can't wait to see if they will stop at Batttle Beast or they will continue further in the future for further support to this archetype like they did with blackwings which resulted in crow becoming a major character. --David 40 (talkcontribs) 23:34, August 28, 2016 (UTC)

Deck guideEdit

Fuck you(Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon 1 (talkcontribs) 18:04, September 22, 2016 (UTC))

I spent time out buying specific cards to test that deck then leave page and you delete nice awesome fuck you (Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon 1 (talkcontribs) 18:08, September 22, 2016 (UTC))

I deleted your page in the first place because it didn't conform to mainspace deck guide standards. I even put the reason why I deleted it in the first place as I deleted it. You should check your email; the default setting state that emails are sent when a page is edited/moved/deleted, as well as any edit summaries that were put in.
If you're interested in viewing the reason why I deleted your page the first time, click this red link here: How To Make A Really Good and Supportive Dragon Deck In Yu-Gi-Oh. QueuingEdit

Do you not know how the "queue" function works when it comes to renaming images? I'm asking because I noticed your multiple (unnecessary) automatic renaming edits. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 20:45, October 28, 2016 (UTC)

Haven't fully figured that part out, no. Can you explain, please? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 21:56, October 28, 2016 (UTC)
Whenever you rename an image, you'll see the "Add to queue" option. If you're planning on renaming multiple images in a short period of time (and some of those images happen to be on the same page together, such as Card Galleries), then you want to select that option and click "rename". It won't be renamed immediately; instead, the renaming will be stored for later. Continue in this fashion until you're done, then you go to any "File:" page, click the drop-down arrow, and select the "Queue" option. From there, you'll be able to see the renames stored in the queue, which should look something like this. When you're ready to rename, just select the "execute" option and the images will be renamed simultaneously (along with their instances on pages). Fair warning though, the more "renames" you add to the queue, the more likely that some of the renames will fail, meaning you'll have to rename the instances manually. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:56, October 29, 2016 (UTC)

Transcendental PolymerizationEdit

Excuse me Chaos, I'm Classic Fan 92, and I was hoping you could help me settle a little argument I'm having with the user XBrain130 on Transcendental Polymerization's tip page. You see, he keeps deleting this idea I have of Fusion Summoning Starving Venom Fusion Dragon through it, then banish the card to activate Transcendental Poly's second effect to summon it's fusion Materials. X Brain is under the impression that due to a ruling he found here: https://ygorganization.com/ocg-112416-rulings/ using De-Fusion on Starving, the idea's can't work. I simply wish to know, which of us do you think is right? Thank you for your time. ClassicFan92 (talkcontribs) 22:39, December 2, 2016 (UTC)

I'd say that XBrain is right. Starving Venom's Fusion Materials specifically state that the DARK monsters have to be on the field. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 02:08, December 3, 2016 (UTC)

About what Trollbot2412553 have doneEdit

Hi, I have a question about the new card Ancient Gear Golem-Ultimate Pound/ Mechanized Melee: Is it too soon to put up a trivia page and say something on the lines of "This is the first Signature Move card to be a monster"? Just asking. ClassicFan92 (talkcontribs) 22:11, December 14, 2016 (UTC)

PredaplantEdit

About the Predaplants page, will the table posted there be deleted just like the tables in Phantom Knights and Speedroids are deleted. Because if it is that way, then I think it's better to remove it as possible.Magusjosh (talkcontribs) 10:57, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

While it's true that Becasita said that not all the cards in an archetype have super-interesting trivia, I think it's worth keeping the table in the Predaplant page because not everyone knows all of the plants represented in this archetype. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:43, January 4, 2017 (UTC)

Cell Explosion VirusEdit

refereeing to my edit on cell explosion virus the aliens take control of the planet in the end by end (spoilers) and its where the film ends as all hope is then lost, the arm raised by the goblin is the exact same arm raised even in the film and the film is a classic among science fiction films, also i was referring to the card artwork here is a link to the scene from the film P.S turn the volume down.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTP_SdjD5ms i hope this clears things up for you as i didn't want to leave a spoiler on the link (Just a guy who's a hero for fun (talkcontribs) 16:19, January 6, 2017 (UTC))

I'll re-add what you said, but only because you worded it poorly. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 18:51, January 6, 2017 (UTC)

Dark Sanctuary (anime)Edit

Hello ,

I was the person who recently edited the page "Card Appearance : Dark Sanctuary" and realized you negated my edits. If you don't mind, I have one or two things to say. First of all, the page currently says you equip this card(Dark Sanctuary) to an enemy monster which is not likely to be accurate, because when Kuriboh was destroyed, this card wasn't and also this is a Field-Spell after all. Equiping a Field-Spell to a monster sounds a little odd.

Moreover, it can be deduced that this card can't be activated unless Necrofear is "destroyed"(not just sent to the Graveyard) and also once the conditions are all set you don't necessarily need to have this card in your current hand in order to activate it :

    • This is not even a physical card in the manga and Necrofear alone does everything it does. Also she needs to be Destroyed. (I haven't read manga yet but I did a little research. I hope I'm correct)
    • Bakura never even thought of sending Dark Necrofear to the graveyard without first "Tribute Summoning" her (you know what I mean) and Bakura wasn't really the least card-discarding duelist... was he?
    • This card requires me to Sacrifice one monster every single turn and still doesn't really protect my life points too well if I don't combine it with my Trap Cards. Not to mention simply moving Necrofear from graveyard to anywhere else will negate every effect.

"She must be destroyed" + "Must be activated from hand" combined is a bit boring in this card's case.

I'd also added "This card can't be destroyed by card effects.", yes. Considering the facts "all effects are negated unless Necrofear is in the graveyard" + "It's already work to summon and get destroyed Necrofear" + "This card didn't even exist in the manga and Necrofear does everything" leaves us with 3 options :

1 - This card can't be destroyed by effects. 2 - Necrofear allows me to activate this card not only from my deck but also from my Graveyard. 3 - Both (which I'm a proponent)

Everything tells me they meant to make Necrofear as close as possible to the manga version. They added the condition of tributing a monster every turn to balance things out and a Field-Spell was mainly for that balancing condition. Well, I guess it's already been long enough. I hope I got your attention. I'd appreciate hearing from you and talking further on the matter. Goodbye

  • *looks for the signature button* *gives up*

Abdurrahmanakal (talkcontribs) 02:42, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

The note specifically states how Dark Sanctuary's anime/manga effect would be worded if it kept it in the real life version. The manga and real life card game use entirely different terminologies. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:03, January 14, 2017 (UTC)

First of all, thanks for the reply. But you, at best, only answered to my first paragraph. I mean we do use the terms "destroyed" , "tributed", "sent to graveyard", "activate from deck/graveyard" in real life, right? The card's anime lore might not include she must be destroyed or can activate from deck but we know they don't necessarily include everything. Ragnarok's lore says "Destroy all your opponent's monsters" when the card actually banishes them without destroying them. Note : Necrofear's anime page on this site currently includes "activate Dark Sanctuary from your deck" so whether this is correct or incorrect, there is some kind of contradiction either way.

Chicken GameEdit

I wasn't even SAYING White Dragon Ninja was involved in the Chicken Game. I'm saying that if she was used to protect Chicken Game in that scenario, her effect can be interpreted as the players being held hostage by her. It's just something for you to think about.

And NO, this is not coincidental trivia. At least, it's not intended to be. I learned my lesson about that. — This unsigned comment was made by RedEyesBurn69 (talkcontribs)

Chicken Game has nothing to do with White Dragon Ninja at all because that's speculation. We don't allow that here. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 22:26, June 13, 2017 (UTC)

Duel SummariesEdit

Hello. Thanks for the tips for the duel summaries. I'll do my best, so that there won't be too much damage control needed KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 09:59, August 9, 2017 (UTC)

Just wondering, for the Arc-V episode summaries, I sometimes see a review of the field (like, Player A controls X and Y, and has Z LP remaining, Player B...). Do we put that into Vrains summaries? KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 06:29, August 23, 2017 (UTC)

We used to, but don't do that anymore because that's redundant with the "Duel continues from previous episode" link. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 07:00, August 23, 2017 (UTC)

THanks for the help.MorganaRox96 (talkcontribs) 08:21, August 25, 2017 (UTC)

More Duel Summary questionsEdit

1. So, if an effect was activated because "it was Normal Summoned", how do you put it

   - "As it was Normal Summoned, X activates the effect of Y..."; or
   - "X activates the effect of Y as it was Normal Summoned..."

2. In Episode 16, there was a heavy amount of sending cards from the hand to the GY. In that case, is it necessary to say "Z was sent to the GY" etc?
3. About so called "Link Points", do I continue with the way it was normally done, or is there a different way to put it. An example of the way it was normally done:

"...to Link Summon X...to the Bottom Link Point of Y"
"...activates the effect of Z, to Special Summon X to the Bottom Link Point of Z"

Thanks
KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 11:18, August 30, 2017 (UTC)

1. first option. 2. I haven't seen the effects of the cards that were used, so I can't comment here. 3. 2nd option. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 11:28, August 30, 2017 (UTC)

Paraphrasing card effects?Edit

You once left me a tip when writing duel summaries to paraphrase card effects. I'm a little unsure how to, so could you show some examples? Thanks KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 11:10, September 6, 2017 (UTC)

What I mean here is not putting down card effects word-for-word and I'm personally not fond of putting things down verbatim. While I know that some other Duel summaries use the word "target," and while I understand the importance of that word in Dueling, I don't use it, as it's still verbatim; the person can just go to the card article to get a better understanding of how the card works. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:18, September 6, 2017 (UTC)

Activated effects for Duel SummariesEdit

Which is more preferable (using Draconnet as an example)

   a) As it was Normal Summoned, Playmaker activates the effect of "Draconnet"
   b) As "Draconnet" was Normal Summoned, Playmaker activates its effect

Here's another example using Altergeist Meluseek

   a) As it was sent to the GY, Ghost Girl activates the effect of "Meluseek"
   b) As "Meluseek" was sent to the GY, Ghost Girl activates its effect

Asking for the sake of consistency. Thanks

Card Trivia: Predaplant Squid DroseraEdit

Uhm... I made a mistake when I identified the species of Drosera that was used as the base for Squid Drosera, and I wanted to fix that. The problem is, the EN Wikipedia page for the species didn't exist, and I only found the Wikipedia page in Romanian Wikipedia (https://ro.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drosera_chrysolepis ). However, I found the photo of the plant in the English Wikipedia's List of Drosera species (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Drosera_species ). Which one should I use as the reference to the species name?

And also, I'm terribly sorry for my mistake on identifying the species T_T

Aolady (talkcontribs) 17:35, September 27, 2017 (UTC)

You can just link the list of Drosera species page. Squid Drosera looks like chrysolepsis the most.ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 18:39, September 27, 2017 (UTC)

Drawing in anime DuelsEdit

So, just to clarify, we only put "X draws "Y"..." when the card being drawn is shown on-screen. And when the card is then Normal Summoned or activated, do we put it like this:

   - Blue Angel draws "Trickstar Candina" and subsequently Normal Summons it
   - Blue Angel draws "Trickstar Light Stage" and subsequently activates it

Or instead, is there any other way to put it? KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 13:37, November 8, 2017 (UTC)

Yes on both parts. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 16:23, November 8, 2017 (UTC)

Request for permissionEdit

As some cards in the anime are nigh-impossible to translate without official subtitles, I would like to request for permission to use placeholders of some form to be used for cards that I cannot translate until the official subtitles are released. If you accept my request, then what should be used as the placeholder.
Thanks

X's hand contains...Edit

When a duelist's entire hand is shown, do we still write "X's hand contains "Y" and "Z"", or do we leave that part out? (For Episode 31, I'll be writing that part) KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 10:59, December 13, 2017 (UTC)

Yes. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 11:07, December 13, 2017 (UTC)

Verb grammar in duel summariesEdit

For any verb in duel summaries (summon, add, set, destroy), when do we use the following:

Using "add" as an example: Blue Angel activates the effect of "Trickstar Candina"...
   - to add a "Trickstar" card...
   - adding a "Trickstar" card...
   - which lets her add a "Trickstar" card...

This question goes to "to Special Summon/Special Summoning/which lets him Special Summon" clauses. Thanks.
KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 10:51, December 17, 2017 (UTC).

Card Trivia: Predaplant SarraceniantEdit

Is it necessary to add "This card's artwork depicts the fusion between the predator and its prey. In this case, Sarracenia as the predator, and ant as its prey" to said trivia page? Or should I just keep this to my blog only? :D

Aolady (talkcontribs) 17:16, December 20, 2017 (UTC)

ReplyEdit

Hi. To answer your question, I double checked with Earl about how we go about doing the summaries. The anime is a portrayal of the real life game, so we have to follow the card texts as closely as possible. Diverging from the real life game would be a bad idea in this case. Which means we have to include "target" in the summaries to keep things consistent with the card text. I understand that wordiness is a common issue in most of the summaries where even the act of Fusion Summoning gets lengthy, in comparison to previous series. But the general explanation of what a card does and how it works should match as far as possible with the card text. But sometimes, "target" actually helps in constructing the explanation for an effect, like for instance "Link Protection" in Episode 39. Though admittedly, the use of it in most cases (such as Special Summoning from the GY) would not be too necessary, but we kind of have to stick with it.
Basically, we have to include the use of "target" in summaries, even if the summaries get wordy as a result.KyrusDarkblade244 (talkcontribs) 13:21, 4 October 2018 (UTC)

Links in card loresEdit

Hey ChaosGallade, I just wanted to let you know that it's generally preferred to avoid links of the form monster in card lores (though not for all possible links; see the last paragraph of Template:CardTable2#Localization for details). It's also preferred that edits should not be made to only change the format of links in this way; the edit should make some other substantive change to the page as well. Thanks, and feel free to ask if you have any questions! =) ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 17:17, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

I mainly did it to avoid redirects. Is there a reason why you're prioritizing brevity? ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 17:26, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
It makes things easier to read when editing the page. Note that there's no particular reason to prefer avoiding redirects, see e.g. wikipedia:WP:NOTBROKEN. This has been discussed on the Discord server, to the point that I now have my bot simplifying these links when it edits card pages. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 01:56, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
That's good to know; thanks. I feel like I've been away longer than I thought. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 01:17, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

CXyz (-) Naphil Asylum Chaos KnightEdit

For this monster, why are you trying to make it match the other "CXyz", when it has a hyphen in its JP name where the other CXyz do not? --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 05:31, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

I was thinking it should be consistent with the TCG names for the other CXyz monsters, which lack any kind of punctuation. If the hyphen should be put back, I won't object. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:57, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
where the other CXyz do not?
"CXyz Comics Hero Legend Arthur" NumbersHunter02 (talkcontribs) 06:21, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
Point taken. I'll move it back. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 06:30, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
eh? but
arthur supports it not having a hyphen in its english name (like how you moved it to before). arthur's just like naphil • Falminar (talkcontribs) 06:51, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
In the OCG, the first batch of CXyz monsters have colons, while the TCG versions don't. I'm guessing UK wanted the hyphen for Naphil to stay for now out of caution, as it's the only CXyz monster with this distinction. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 08:06, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

ROD Reshef the Dark Being revertEdit

Hey, can you explain why you reverted the edit converting Reshef's Decklist to Card probabilities? This is the template that should generally be used for video game Decklists, at least for the early games. ディノ千?!☎ Dinoguy1000 15:24, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

It was a Deck list, so that's my bad on my part. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 00:10, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

ZEXAL creditsEdit

I noticed that in 2013 you added that Kevin Kolack voiced Flip Turner in Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL - Episode 005 (rather than Matt Hoverman as previously was listed). In contrast, the subsequent episode still lists Matt Hoverman as Flip Tuner's voice actor. And Flip Turner's own page lists Justin Boyd as his voice actor, based on yugioh.com.

Do you have access to the ZEXAL credits for these episodes? Crunchyroll does not have credits on Yu-Gi-Oh episodes, but DVDs might.

Anyway, the reason I bring this up is that I was recently informed that Justin Boyd is an alias of Kevin Kolack, and Kevin Kolack was the voice actor for Flip Turner. What I'm trying to work out is what he was actually credited as in episodes. --SnorlaxMonster 23:56, 26 January 2022 (UTC)

I don't have the ZEXAL credits on me, sorry. That edit was a long time ago. Thanks for pointing this out; I'll make the changes. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 02:48, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
On Discord, Apparently Lyle was able to help get some credits for ZEXAL episodes, because Pluto has credits on their ZEXAL episodes. It looks like he was credited as Justin Boyd in the episodes themselves. So it makes me wonder where you got the information that Kevin Kolack was Flip's voice actor. Because it's correct, but the only way to know that should have been by knowing that that was Kevin Kolack's alias. --SnorlaxMonster 04:34, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
If I remember correctly, the official Yu-Gi-Oh website had "Kevin Kolack" credited for Flip before being changed to "Justin Boyd" some time after. That was where I got it from. I'm guessing they changed it to maintain consistency between credits in 2 places. ChaosGallade (talkcontribs) 05:42, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
