Not all related cards show up in ArchetypeNavBox

I noticed there's this problem still. Is this reported or there is some change we need to make?

One archetype for example that doesn't have all the related cards for it is Archfiend. Pandemonium is listed as a support card but it's not listed in the NavBox on the Archfiend page.

The "Archfiend" page was renamed recently. It used to be at the plural "Archfiends". Pages like "Pandemonium" are still using |archsupport1 = Archfiends and the system doesn't handle redirects like it used to. Decided to fix some pages today but I noticed Pandemonium had |archsupport1 = Archfiend already because you fixed it, but it doesn't show up in the Archfiend's navbox still. Unfortunately I'm back here again. Mara of the Nordic Alfar wasn't showing up in the Nordic archetype navbox even though I see no problem with the code yesterday. I tried the purge ending that you mentioned before but it came up with a navbox with bunch of broken links. Not links for each member, just a single line for each section. Now today I don't even see navbox for any page. I wonder if it's because I'm not using the newest updated version of firefox. --Xsamuraizx (talk • contribs) 02:03, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Semantic MediaWiki is turned off, so the whole site has problems. Give it a few more days, when they turn it back on, it should work again.

Things are very good. Allow me to explain my admittedly abrupt departure. I had been living in a flat with some former friends, and I had to sell off my collection to raise the funds required to eat 3 square meals a day. It basically took the fun out of what I had. Looking around, I'm quite impressed with what's here. Well, a few months ago, I completed a rewrite of {{CardTable2}} and am now working off-and-on on another rewrite; I've created {{OCG-TCG card image}} to semiautomatically display various information on image pages for OCG/TCG cards and add maintenance tags and categories as necessary; and am working (also off-and-on) on {{OCG-TCG set table}}, {{Set}}, and {{Card table set}}, for a set version of CardTable2, a central, standardized way to get "canon" set names and abbreviations in any language, and a standardized display of set information on card pages, respectively. Back when I came back and started getting involved again (in late 2009 (wow, has it really been that long already? o_O )), I developed and started deploying {{Unofficial name}} (originally "Approximate name") and, later, {{Unofficial lore}}; "Unofficial name" is now one of the most widely used templates on the wiki. I've also created, rewritten, or tweaked several dozen other templates, helped get a complete category system in place, helped with a redesign of the forums (mostly their deployment rather than their design), spurred the adoption and wider use of several stylistic habits, and several other tidbits here and there.

Deltaneos has also helped out immensely with the templates; he's showed me all sorts of neat tricks for utilizing StringFunctions and SMW, neither of which I'd worked with at all before coming back here. He also does a lot of grunt work with recategorizing pages as we continue to update the category system, both with his bot and manually, and recently, he's been creating a lot of articles for people involved in the various anime series (mostly seiyū and certain staff members). Several months ago, he also pretty much single-handedly set up the RFA system, which looks to be running pretty smoothly. All in all, he's easily done far more work here than I have. =D

On the topic of administrators, there have been several of them promoted since I started contributing again, starting with PoirotH (talk • contribs) in September 2009, Trivi-AM (talk • contribs) in January 2010, Bluedog187 (talk • contribs) in March 2010, me in May 2010, and after geting RFA set up, Cheesedude (talk • contribs) and Falzar FZ (talk • contribs) in January this year, Blackwings0605 (talk • contribs) in February, and Wilimut (talk • contribs) just last March. As I mentioned above, we also have a couple of bots now - Dinobot1000 (talk • contribs) was promoted in September 2009, and DeltaneosBot (talk • contribs) in June 2010 (and despite the age disparity, DeltaneosBot still has more edits than my own =D ).

On the anime and manga front, both the GX manga and the 5D's anime have drawn to a close, and Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL has started in their place. As far as the card game, there's a card effect redesign set to start getting deployed next month with the goal of making card effects much more understandable and easier to use, thereby exponentially cutting down on the number of rulings needed.

There's bound to be lots of other interesting stuff that has also happened, but this is most of what I can think of right now... are there any corrections or additions you'd like to make, Delt? =)

4Kids are getting sued by TV Tokyo and NAS.
Xyz Monsters have been added to the card game.
Rules have changed slightly in the OCG; You can't call Priority to activate an Ignition Effect after Summoning a monster. This will probably be changed in the TCG too when the next Starter Deck comes out.

On the wiki:

There's obviously this new skin, which we didn't have much choice over.
Lately Wikia's become a lot more focused on attracting contributers than the actual encyclopedic content of wikis. You can see this in a lot of their new features: badges, picture attribution, blogs, newly created wikis have article comments instead of talk pages. At least we have a choice in using most of the features and one positive one is the chat feature, which is similar to IRC and we should be able to enable it here sometime next month.
The Main Page is a bit tidier.
On the forums, actual wiki discussion has been separated from general Yu-Gi-Oh! discussion, the layout has been redesigned, sticky threads have been added and threads older than 40 days now get an "archived" notice and the "edit" button becomes unclickable (although it's still possible to edit the page).
There aren't too many users you'd be familiar with still around. Rod and III are still here. Dantman is still around, but doesn't do as much on Wikia these days. Jennie Rocket, who you might remember from IRC is still on IRC.
You've only just missed Deus Ex Machina by a few months. He's unfortunately left due to health problems. Huajun Chen and D.Kaiser each left around the times they started college. Pcouw has had a second child. Look234, irrc, was finding it hard to fit the wiki in his life with college, family and his girlfriend. AnnaV, I think, left after moving back to her home country. I've no idea what happened to Van Ludwig. According to Special:ListUsers he hasn't even logged in since he stopped editing. Tyrant Slayer, I think, has been busy with real life, plus that flu scare in Mexico in 2009 kept him away from computer access for a while. Danny has unfortunately died after a life of sickness, but managed to live twice as long as doctors had predicted. And apologies to anyone I've left out.

The new skin has been something of a bone of contention for me as well. I know WoWWiki's core staff left, and set up their own mirror in protest at it. Nathan has been busy with College, I've had him on MSN, but he's been well at least.

The change to Priority is a big surprise. Never expected that.
I do still have a collection, however I haven't audited it properly yet.
Sad to hear Danny passed away. How did you find out?
Glad to see more SysOps around the place. It was hard to promote people back then because of Nightmare81, et al (whom has thankfully fucked off YouTube, and hopefully had fallen under a bus).

Wikia staff were a bit unfair to WoWWiki. They jumped on the first excuse they found to demote the admins who had left to the new domain. Although WoWWiki at least got a wider content area with the new skin due to the vast majority of readers having wider screen resolutions.
Nathan is Narchibald, right? He dropped by after the new skin to discuss some format changes.
Someone left a notice on his user page. The thread linked to has been removed since, but you can find it here too. Just see the post by Joe Zaza, his brother.
CardTable2 updates:

It used to be a big sea of #ifs and #switches crammed together. The code is much more legible now.
Documentation is a bit more organised.
Sometimes SMW randomly gets disabled on Wikia. CardTable2 has a bunch of fallbacks now, so pages basically don't turn to crap when that happens.
Separate parameters like |altatk for non-numeric values aren't needed anymore.
It stops card images going beyond 300px. We've had to cut back from 400 to 300, since the new skin doesn't have a very wide content area.
Radaghast cooked-up a few more SVG icons to use in it.
This hasn't been added yet. But we're going to use Template:Ruby/split so that you need only enter |jpname = Japanese name with ruby markup and it will automatically strip what you enter into its kanji and kana-only versions, rather than use three separate parameters.

Is YGO still used by Wikia as a testbed for MediaWiki/SMW upgrades?
How many of the old YGO sites are still going? Can't see to find evidence of RONIN, or that rulings website it used.
WoWWiki's usefulness has actually been surpassed by WoWPedia, the sister site, primarily because Curse Networks seem to have a more solid model to bring in contributors (Such as from the MMO Champion Forums, etc).

That's to help prevent the "Stratos'" repeat reprint with each updating "Hero" name they released, and that help them prevent from searching for "Hero Kid" and few cards that related to the names. Test wikis for MediaWiki/SMW upgrades vary.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's World Championship 2011: Over the Nexus is the latest video game. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 5 is the second most recent. The World Championship games are more like the OCG/TCG. The Tag Force ones include anime-only cards and proper Dark Synchro Monsters. (In the real world, Dark Synchro Monsters were released as regular Synchro Monsters.)

Konami have made some changes to terminology. All "Hero" cards are being reprinted as "HERO". With two new types of "HERO" cards, "Vision HERO" and "Masked HERO", cards like "Elemental Hero Stratos" and "Divine Neos" were getting messy. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:47, June 3, 2011 (UTC)

Very much in favour of that. Heck, I'm just pleased they finally released an Errata'd "Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus". The Hero change also makes a lot of sense, also ties the TCG cards somewhat closer to their OCG counterparts. Oh yeah, I forgot to answer your question on Yu-Gi-Oh! sites still active. I'm not familiar with the RONIN site you mentioned. yugioh-card.com (obviously), Shriek, ShriekTCG, manjyomethunder, YGO-Card.de, Pojo and Janime are still around. I don't think Netrep gets updated much these days. yu-jyo.net still exists. It doesn't update, but it's pretty much already finished summarising the series and won't be bothering with any of the newer series. LittleKuriboh's YouTube account (CardGamesFTW) keeps switching between being banned and unbanned. Oh crap, I never realized Curse were the ones hosting WowPedia... I like them quite a bit; I've become a somewhat active contributor on their Minecraft wiki over the past few months. I'd still personally like to run as far away from Wikia as we could, and if we ever do, Curse is who I'd be likely to turn to for hosting.

On the subject of TC2 updates, the second major update I'm working on (or not) now involves fully splitting the template into a frontend wrapper that does lots of parameter preprocessing and sets a bunch of parameter "flags", and a backend core that handles the actual template display and whatnot.

Elemental HERO Dark Neos' Errata Issue

I spotted the issue that you leave behind, "File" didn't help with the |image = part. So I just change them into "Image" instead, to make them appearing. And I don't get why back card had = instead of -. Again, I covered it. --F r e d C a t 14:04, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

Changing "File" to "Image" didn't actually make a difference. The images hadn't been renamed from "Hero" to "HERO" before you edited the page, but they were moved while you were editing it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:08, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

Update on some changes, running them by you

First up, we now have a rolling count of Official, Anime-Exclusive, and Manga-Exclusive cards on the Main Page. The Class 1 property now has an actual role to play.

Second, Template:CardEffects-Summoning is an idea of a larger idea to unify the SMW search properties in something slightly tidier than a Category. Let me know what you think.

Third, noticed that there are some deviations from 'Official' Wiki formatting i.e. using [[Elemental Hero]]es. I know this is purely nit-picking, but do you agree that Elemental Heroes et al, looks tider?--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 14:39, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, cool.

Yeah, that looks good. Those pages need more organising. But I'd insist on also keeping some sort of category structure for them. I think we should aim to have all our articles fit into one overall category structure. Among other things, Special:UncategorizedPages would be more useful and there's some stuff with Special:BrowseData I'd like to do. (That's an SMW function which relies on categories.)

I'm not suggesting we remove the categories at all. My plan was to divide the articles across templates (with a central linking function in the {{{above}}} section. There's too large a number of search categories for it to cleanly be on one, but I think I can pan them out to a small handful of templates linked together.

Strictly speaking, it's both. It's etiquette on the large wikis that article links not only include direct links to articles, but also encapsulate the complete link text within the bracket link. This primarily for new users, as it gives them a clear definition of what text changes what, but it also looks cleaner when you look at the code.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 15:13, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

The best solution is to not make a big deal out of it. Some people hate seeing [[Yusei]] (me included) and some hate seeing [[Yusei Fudo|Yusei]]. I just link what I write my way and try not to go out of my way just to change how other people have linked what they've written. But when I have AWB's "apply general fixes" turned on, it will automatically convert links like [[destroy|destroyed]] to [[destroy]]ed. -- Deltaneos (talk) 15:54, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

It is a largely stylistic issue, but the software will auto-link that stuff for us (and IMO the autolinked version looks tidier rather than the piped version; that particular argument can go both ways depending on what you're most used to seeing/using), so I don't see any especially compelling reasons to switch to the piped version. No matter; I got the idea. It also made an few coincidental converging numbers

i.e. my 2011 was interpreted as 20:11

and your "18 05 is also" is to "which is 18:05 later"

anyhow; "18 June 2011" (no comma) set it to the date, with 00:00 time, which was what I was intending. Apparently the comma makes it think 2011 is a time, not a year. (the protection time was changed just now since I was testing it)

"Dark Bribe" can be chained to the initial activation of "Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins". i.e. when you put the card face-up on the field. I don't think it can be chained to any of its individual effects because the card has already resolved. Upper Deck Entertainment have said it works that way. However Konami have declared all of UDE's rulings unofficial, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're wrong -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:55, June 6, 2011 (UTC)

Reference Problem

I am trying to include the reference in my Judge Ruling (List R) and I have only know how to do with Note (which is seen in my Story/Character article). Should I do same way that I did with Note, only with Reference? --F r e d C a t 11:48, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Can you link to the page you're using notes on? References should be mostly the same as notes. Normally we use "group=Note" to distinguish notes from references and leave the "group=" part out of references. -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:04, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Merge GX season 3 arcs.

In the Japanese version, the entirety of the third season of GX was retroactively named the "Dimension World" arc (trying to find an actual source for this, but I know it's true). According to the Yu-Gi-Oh! 10th Anniversary Animation Book, the GX arcs are "Seven Stars" (1 to 52), "Society of Light" (53 to 104), "Dimension World" (105 to 156) and "Darkness" (155 to 180). Out of the names we're using ("Freshman Year", "Rise of the Sacred Beasts", "Society of Light", "Genex Tournament", "Survival Duels", "Quest for the Rainbow Dragon" and "Into the Shadows") "Rise of the Scared Beasts" is the only one I recall being officially used for the dub. Heh, interesting that they classify the whole first season as Seven Stars. In regards to that name, do we use that as name of the arc? Or do we use "Shadow Riders"? We're not going to use "Nightshroud" for "Darkness" since there is no English season 4. I'm 95% sure that "Into the Shadows" was used for 131-156, officially. I agree, Darkness seems like the better choice for the final arc. I'm not sure about the first one. Shadow Riders seems right, being what the Seven Stars are called in the English version, but somewhat inconsistent with Rise of the Scared Beasts already being the English name for the portion of the arc they're actually in. Which do you think is better suited?

Also, is the GX manga considered to have different arcs?

I'm not sure if there's any official arc splitting in the manga, but I'll look into it. I've seen it split this way by fans though.

Meklords in the Sacred Cards List!?

Hello Deltaneos, How are you?? Well we have a problem here of organization in the Sacred Cardslist,nothing personal but: What the hell are doing the Meklords as Sacred Cards in the list ?! They don´t have any backstory like a legend ,a myth,past or something similar, despite of their high power in the game . But some people remove archetypes like Exodia And temporal machine gods as sacred cards(and both groups have their Story) to explain this more easier i will display you the list of archetypes and their legend/ancient times story:

Exodia: Is related with the Past of the Pharaoh(Atem).

Egypyian Gods: Is obvious, most of us, know their history

Wicked Gods: Are the shadow of the Egyptian gods in the manga.

Sacred Beasts: Sheppard talk a legend of the end of the world caused by this three monsters.All of their have variants of names of biblical characters(Uria-Uriah/Uriel, Hamon-Hamon/Haman-Raviel, Armityle-Armisael).

Orichalcos and Legendary Dragons: Enemies , they are related with the story of Atlantis in the anime.

Legendary Planets: As the article says they are powerful cards that represents the planets and the sun, they are related with Tragoedia in the manga.

Signer Dragons: Servants of the crimson Dragon, and a major plot in the 5d´s series.

Earthbound Immortals: Evil gods that was defeated by the Crimson Dragon and the Signer Dragons in the past.

Aesir: They are the three most important deities of the Norse Mythology.

Temporal Machine Gods: Despite of the word "temporal machine" they are in fact the Archangels (included the God Yahveh) of the Sefirot in the Kabbalah.

Vs

Meklords:The only reference is the suffix "-el" related with the names of the angels, but isnt enought to say that they are Gods,legendary creatures, powerful angels, etc..., in fact, they are only machines that will destroy the world in the future.

There was another discussion about this here. I was in favour of removing "Meklord" and "Temporal Machine God", but wasn't sure about "Exodia". The reason I was against the "Temporal Machine God" cards was because they had no plot-significance apart from being used in a character's Deck. There are loads of cards based on high ranking religious or mythological beings. Only the ones where such beings have influence on the series' plot are listed. As you can see from the sources i posted (TV promo and so on), the EP1 promo wasn't released for the Movie, but for the screening of the Battle City arc. I'm sorry, but no can do

As I tried explaining to FredCat, and as you can see from the posts of the people I got into the flame wars with on here, they're so indignant and self-important, they will keep on harassing me, no matter what I say or do. I tell them to leave me alone, they ignore me and continue to flame me; I explain why their suggestions won't work, they keep pushing the issue; I complain about their harassment, they try to make me out to be the bad guy; I try reverting their arguments without replying to avoid flame wars, they bring it back and accuse me of being an ass. I don't think just ignoring them and hoping they'll go away will do anything; hell, the argument with BobaGett wasn't even YamiWheeler's problem, yet he specifically decided to go into the thread and butt in, himself. He didn't have to be BobaFett's defender, and really, all he did was just stoke the fires by bashing on me. So I'm sorry, but I have no choice in the matter; I HAVE to defend myself against them, unless and until the mods help me get it through their thick skulls to leave me alone. There's no two ways about it; I've had this happen to me on other sites, and it ALWAYS has the same pattern: I go about my own business, some jackass like these people decide to get offended by something I say or start arguing with me on cards for no reason, they refuse to stop, even if I ask, until I bow down and kiss their feet in acknowledgment of their genius, I get in trouble with the mods, and I have to state my case and convince them rightfully that the other person was the instigator. Card Rulings without Navigation

Hi Deltaneos! Lets say that someone created a Ruling page like this one Card Rulings:Golem Sentry without adding the {{Navigation}} template (and it hasn't been noticed by anyone, thus it still exist). This means that it does not appear in Category:Card Rulings. Is there a way to check those Ruling Pages that do not have the {{Navigation}} template? I didn't say I was necessarily going to delete it. The page was nominated for deletion. When this happens users can posts reasons in favour or against the deletion on the talk page and the decision may be based on them.

But yes, if it mostly agreed to delete the image, I would say it would make sense to delete the similar ones, unless the reasons given apply to that particular image only. If it's mostly agreed to keep it, the other ones should left alone too. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:46, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

Demon or Daemon

It says on the template's page that it's not finished yet. I don't know if that means it's not ready for any kind of use. Dinoguy wrote the template, so he'd be the right guy to ask, but he'll most likely read this conversation and comment anyway.

Set names should be in italics per the manual of style; this is in keeping with the general pattern of English typography that longer or larger works tend to be italicized, whereas shorter/smaller subworks are usually quoted.
