About the (ruby) tag

Some browser (like Firefox with XHTML Ruby add-on installed) will show the Kanji and furigana overlapping each other when the text were placed on a single ruby tag like this one. To prevent it, additional <ruby> tag is needed to show it properly. --Aeris Ventaile (talkcontribs) 04:11, December 1, 2010 (UTC)

Can you visit http://yugioh.wikia.com/index.php?title=Loki,_Lord_of_the_Aesir&oldid=1298295&useskin=monobook and post a screenshot of that? Firefox, of all browsers, should not be having this kind of trouble with Ruby text. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 04:18, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
After viewing the page using two different Ruby add-ons, seems it was entirely depends on how the engine render it. The XHTML Ruby Support add-on with Default settings render it correctly, but it also render some contents as if it were a Ruby text. While the second add-on, HTML Ruby show the text overlapping each other like in the screenshot. So should it be rendered with single tag or multiple tags for compatibility sake? --Aeris Ventaile (talkcontribs) 07:23, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
It sounds like both addons have bugs. What version(s) of Firefox are they recommended for, and what version are you using? And to be valid Ruby annotation, the whole text should be contained in one Ruby tag. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 15:55, December 1, 2010 (UTC)
After doing some research, the HTML5 Ruby spec only indicates using <ruby/>, <rp/>, and <rt/> tags, and I have updated {{ruby}} accordingly. Can you look at [1] and [2] and tell me if the kanji and furigana are still overlapping in Firefox with the plugins?
I've installed the latest versions (as available from Mozilla's addons site) of both plugins in my Firefox 3.6.12, and I'm seeing the same results as you've reported so far. I'm working on some CSS that will hopefully help, though. The overlapping problem is definitely an issue with HTML Ruby as opposed to our markup, though. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 02:54, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
Still the same result so far, also tested with Firefox 3.6.12 and default settings for both add-ons. Definitely a bug on the add-ons. --Aeris Ventaile (talkcontribs) 05:48, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
I don't suppose you know much about CSS, do you? I'm wondering if HTML Ruby will behave better with the right CSS styles. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 16:37, December 2, 2010 (UTC)
I'm using HTML Ruby and have the same problem as well. I tried to find the solution and found that adding this for each kanji character that has furigana on it. The problem is there are many pages that the <ruby></ruby> tags are still missing and adding tags to all of them will be so much time consuming. Can you run the Dinobot to do that for me? Blackwings0605 (talk) 15:33, February 9, 2011 (UTC)
I've finally looked at this again (again) and changed how {{Ruby}} works so that it can be used on articles without problems (hopefully), and it should display fine in Firefox with either of the Ruby extensions. You should be able to start using {{Ruby}} on articles, but be careful with it at first - in particular, pay attention to the SMW table at the bottom of the page (if you're using Monobook; it doesn't display on the Wikia skin) and let me know of any breakage you see (there shouldn't be any, but SMW seems rather fickle in general). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:08, February 9, 2011 (UTC)

Once again, {{Six Attributes}} isn't "my" template; this is a wiki, and nothing (including user pages) strictly belongs to any one user. That being said, I would have to disagree with the addition of the Element monsters to the template - I have previously considered adding them, and it was previously discussed, but there isn't real evidence that they were intended as a Six Attribute archetype - they seem to be LIGHT and DARK monsters only to keep them from triggering their own or each others' effects. Therefore, I am opposed to their addition and will probably remove them (if more four-element card groups are tracked down, though, we could create a new Four Elements template for them, similar to the Six Attributes one). ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 06:04, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Can I add Attribute Spirits Monsters and their "related form" to your "Template: Six Attributes"? Please answer. and Y--Wasn't (talkcontribs) 18:04, December 25, 2010 (UTC)?

Knowing now that Soul of Purity and Light is only tangentially related to the Attribute Spirits (at best), there is no longer any strong argument that the archetype is a Six Attributes archetype, as opposed to a Four Elements one. However, there are now three known Four Elements archetypes (the Elements, the Attribute Spirits, and the IOC group related to the Attribute Spirits), so there's a very good argument for creating a new Template:Four Elements. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:36, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Really the only thing the two spell groups have in common is that they're both spell groups, and they both modify monster ATK/DEF values. This isn't enough to say they're related, and besides, when they're grouped together, because of the ATK/DEF notes, the monster names no longer line up with the group names. As for the colors, both "None Yet" and "(500 ATK▲/400 DEF▼)"/"(400 ATK▲/200 DEF▼)" just serve as notes, so there's really not much of a reason other than aesthetics to distinguish them (and if we get into aesthetics, we'll be here forever - ask anyone on Wikipedia who was involved in the color discussions for wikipedia:Template:Ambox or wikipedia:Template:Navbox. If you really want colors for these tags, though, my talkpage isn't the place to ask for them; you should instead start a discussion on Template talk:Six Attributes. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 18:36, December 25, 2010 (UTC)

Template issue

Thanks for fixing Template:Cyber. Can you create another section on the template for cards that are in the "Cyber" archetype, but not in one of the three sub-archetypes? I asked Delt about it, and he didn't respond. I hate to be pest, so I thought I'd ask you instead. Templates are not my cup of tea. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:14, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

According to [3], [4], and [5], there are no cards belonging or related to the "Cyber" archetype without being in one of the more specific subarchetypes. I don't think it's possible to query according to part of an archetype name, which is what would be required for this. If you know of other subarchetypes we could try, though, that would work. ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 02:19, December 30, 2010 (UTC)
That would because I haven't added them as being part of the archetype to any of the card pages yet. I wanted to have the template working first, but it appears adding them to the card pages needs to happen first. Since it seems quite likely that we'll be going with singular archetype page names, I'm going to wait until that goes through to add everything.Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:17, December 30, 2010 (UTC)
All right. Once that happens, you should be able to just add {{ArchetypeNavbox|Cyber}} to the template to pick the rest of the pages up. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · Talk⇒Dinoguy1000 07:06, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

No problem. In the future, when you notice card images with incorrect names, you can add {{TCG-OCG card image}} (with necessary parameters filled in) to the image, which will automatically mark it as needing renamed and provide a link for admins to perform the rename. =)

Thoughts on Template:Set

  • Generally speaking, I really need to think through these things better before implementing them.
  • A set-name-based system would be more robust than a set-abbreviation-based one, since historically, set abbreviations do not necessarily have a one-to-one mapping with set names.
    • This may be a problem if there are any cases where two unrelated sets with the same name are covered on the same page, but in those cases, the page should be split anyways.
    • Are there any cases where the same abbreviation, with the same lang code, refers to two different sets? The only one I'm aware of is EP1-EN, which refers to both the Exclusive Pack (EP1-EN001 through EP1-EN008) and Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie Kids WB Promo (EP1-EN000).
  • Language/region (lang) should be expanded to specify set lang and output lang. Set lang should still be specified in the template (sub)name; output lang should be passed in as a parameter and default to (Worldwide) English. This could be used in pairs to link to a set via its English name, but with the link piped to display the set name in some other language.
  • When SMW coverage of set details improves, {{set}} can be changed to fetch actual set names/abbreviations via SMW instead of having it hardcoded. This means the information is all pulled from the same place, making updates easier (however, it also means any templates relying on {{set}} will probably break whenever SMW breaks/is disabled (though this may not be such a problem, since it should typically get used in templates that already rely heavily on SMW)).

As always, I appreciate thoughts of others, so feel free to post any thoughts or suggestions you may have on the {{set}} system. --Dinoguy1000 (talk contribs) as 208.124.86.54 (talk) 22:41, December 31, 2010 (UTC)

There may also be cases where the link target should differ from the set name (especially when disambiguating set names); the template must be able to account for that. And how to handle cases where the template doesn't get enough info to be able to unambiguously return a single set? (perhaps error text, or maybe just give back the least-ambiguous set name possible with the given info...) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:06, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Weekly Jump dates

I think, but would need someone to confirm, that the cover date for issues of Weekly Shōnen Jump is four weeks after their actual release date. Do you know if this is true? And would it be safe to say that it holds true for all issues (at least since it started to serialise Yu-Gi-Oh!)? -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:50, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I have no idea. On Wikipedia, we faced a similar problem over a year ago and decided that generally, cover dates are preferred over release dates, since cover dates are usually trivially confirmable (just look at the cover), unless the release date can be explicitly sourced (and even then, the cover date should be given as well).
On a related matter, I've been assuming that when the WJMP promos appear on issue covers, it means the card is actually in that issue - do you know if this is correct? ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:55, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Also, do you have any comment about the filenames I've been using? I could see a strong argument for expanding "WSJ" to "Weekly Shōnen Jump", and it may make a certain amount of sense to otherwise tweak the filenames... ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:57, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
When it comes to comparing release dates, the actual one would be more useful than the cover one. Since there's only three magazines to keep track of, if we can confirm that it only takes a consistent simple subtraction for each, we shouldn't have the same problem as Wikipedia. Of course, it is still worth while noting the cover one. Maybe I should add a cover date parameter to {{Infobox/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Chapter}}.
The filenames are fine. I don't have preference over abbreviating the name or not. Although, if using the long one we should probably use "o" instead of "ō". Same with the article name. In Yu-Gi-Oh! macrons tend to get left out in English romanisations (Yūgi Mutō → Yugi Muto). And the American Shonen Jump doesn't use the macron. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:07, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
You mean, comparing between different languages, or different magazines? And while we certainly don't have the variety of magazines Wikipedia must contend with, we *do* have more than three. I am currently aware of Weekly Shōnen Jump (Japan), V Jump (Japan), Shonen Jump (U.S./Canada), and Banzai! (Germany), and there are undoubtedly other magazines we could create articles for (mostly versions of Shonen Jump in other countries). That being said, if we can confirm that a given magazine's release date is constant versus its cover date, we should certainly use that (for instance, the American Shonen Jump always goes on sale the first Tuesday of the month before its cover date (although subscribers often get their issue 2-3 weeks before that)).
Macron-less English publication is actually a somewhat more general trend for Viz - they aren't afraid of using macrons in names (for instance, when he was first introduced in Shonen Jump, Gaara's name was written as "Gāra"), but they generally seem to prefer not using them. Even so, WSJ is "above" YGO, and the stylistic decisions made for YGO shouldn't necessarily dictate our handling of WSJ and other such topics. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:51, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
Comparing to anything other than issues of the same magazine. e.g. the cover date for the V Jump issue that Ride 16 was first printed in is January 2011. The tankōban it's reprinted in was released December 29 2010. A timeline based on cover dates will list the reprint as coming before the original print.
I didn't think cover dates for any others would come up too much. But there's also the Swedish Shonen Jump. It and Banzai have four promos between them. I think Yu-Gi-Oh! has also been serialised in Comics House and Comic Champ. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:55, January 4, 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprised if we could find release dates for at least a few issues from official sources, if we look around some. We'd be able to use these to extrapolate as necessary (though we should note such extrapolations, and source them whenever possible). Comparing cover dates to reprints seems like a good metric for establishing the latest possible time an issue could have been released, but it still leaves us a certain amount of ambiguity.
I think if we allow for cover dates for these, even if we ourselves don't go looking for them, they'll get filled in by others over time. It certainly doesn't hurt anything to support them, at least. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:17, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

I am definitely *not* an expert on rulings, but as far as I can tell, Red Nova's effect should resolve regardless of whether it's still in your control when its effect is supposed to resolve (since removing Red Nova from play is not a cost). I'm not as sure about whether Red Nova's effect removes it from play at this time, even if it's no longer in your control.

Archrelated

Based on what is in a lot of other card articles, I would say that the regular counterparts to the Toons should be related. There are plenty of things listed in archrelated that make much less sense than that. "Ojama Yellow" is categorized as being related to "Mokey Mokey (series) because the both appear in the artwork of "The League of Uniform Nomenclature", for example. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:56, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

I'm not convinced myself. The only real argument I could see being made for Ojama Yellow/the Ojamas being related to the Mokey Mokeys is that both are low-level, low-power monster series with high-power members. In reality, Ojama Yellow and Mokey Mokey could have been replaced with any other Level 1 or 2 monsters on TLoUN's artwork for similar effect. BEWD and BETD are only tied together by virtue of the latter being a toon version of the former, which means (to me, of course) that Toon Dragon would be related to the Blue-Eyes archetype (as it is), rather than BEWD being related to the Toon archetype (a very tenuous connection, at best). On Wikipedia, this (comparing BEWD/BETD to Ojama/Mokey Mokey) would just be a variant of OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:09, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
I realize that. I believe it was User:Missign0 who added most of the card-art based archrelations to the card pages. That being said, I do feel some of them are valid, such as "Kozaky" being related to the Gagagigo (series) and "Inpachis", since those are covered in a lot of images. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:22, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, there's a decently stronger argument in that case. Really, it just shows that this stuff should be handled with at least a modicum of thought, rather than "HURR THESE APPEARED TOGETHER ONCE ON THIS TOTALLY-UNRELATED-TO-EITHER-OF-THEM CARD SO THEY MUST BE RELATED". The card trivia pages should be used for incidental overlap/relations between cards, as opposed to adding the cards themselves to archetypes that they otherwise have absolutely nothing in common with. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:28, January 11, 2011 (UTC)
The card trivia pages do tend to be used that way, it just gets added to the main article too, which I would agree is ridiculous. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:30, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

Fake Vector

Inciclopedia have syled their Monobook to look like Vector. (CSS, JS). It's not exactly the same, but close. 'Might be of interest to you. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:34, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

That does look interesting. I may well adapt it for myself (if I do, I'll look into applying it for myself globally on Wikia). With any luck, it won't end up being a permanent thing. =D ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:02, January 11, 2011 (UTC)

So...

...apparently Judai used the same card enough times that the template couldn't handle it. Taking a guess from looking at the Template:Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime appearances page, I'll assume that the template can't show more than 50 appearances currently. I honestly think the templates should be adjusted to show 150+ appearances, as if I ever get around to putting the template in "Polymerization", it's not even going to cover half of it. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 19:17, January 12, 2011 (UTC)

Counting, it seems that there are currently 58 episodes of GX that Clayman is listed as appearing in. The template *should* just ignore any extra parameters, but I don't know if that's what actually happened or not, since SMW has apparently been disabled again (at least, that's what the third box on my user page claims =D ). That really is some *bad* breakage, though, isn't it? We're probably going to have to move this functionality straight into {{CardTable2}} itself so that we can trivially provide a backup when SMW goes down like this. In any case, I've updated Elemental Hero Clayman so that it'll properly display any number of GX anime appearances (you can use either slashes (/) or commas now, in addition to the up to 50 unnamed parameters, but you can't mix styles). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:52, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
I assume that all the redlinks I'm seeing at Clayman's article are due to SMW. So slashes and commas will let list any number of appearances, but "|" will not. Do I have all that right? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:20, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Yes, the redlinks are all SMW's fault. I have a nice little fix in mind, once I start working on the /core separation on CardTable2. =D And yes, assuming #arraymap has no upper limit on the number of items it can handle. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:47, January 13, 2011 (UTC)
Seems to be some more breakages at Yu-Gi-Oh! GX episode listing - season 3. Your user page says that SMW is enabled, so I'm not sure what's going on there. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 15:27, January 16, 2011 (UTC)

Archetype templates removed from bottom of card pages?

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with Monobook, but archetype templates have been removed from the bottom of card pages - e.g. the Egyptian Gods template not appearing at the bottom of Obelisk the Tormentor, where it should be. Was it removed recently, or is this a problem with using Monobook? Toob (talkcontribs) 12:57, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

It's because of a change made to {{CardTable2}} with the intention of reducing the total number of SMW queries across the wiki (with the hope that doing so would decrease how often the devs have to disable it for performance reasons). I'm not sure if the functionality will ever be re-added, but it is currently still present in the sandbox version. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:47, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

Am not saying this will prevent all threats and I think this will reduce the risk of the page.. Its an opinion... Enyel (talkcontribs) 09:07, January 20, 2011 (UTC)
Are you referring to the text "Siguiendo la luna no llegare lejos, tan lejos como se pueda llegar ♫" following the comment above? If so, no that is not his username, any more than "「ダイノガイ千?!」" is my username (though in my case, it is a transliteration of my username, with a couple extra bits). We don't have any control over the length of people's usernames or what characters are used in them, and I doubt Wikia will change it for a single wiki because of how user accounts work across their different wikis (make sure you're logged in on this wiki, then visit a random Wikia wiki - notice how you're logged in there, even though you never logged in on that wiki yourself?). Besides that, limiting username length won't do anything to deter spambots at all. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:46, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

CardTable2

On this page, you cannot click on the "Show" link for "Yu-Gi-Oh! The Duelists of the Roses" Lore section with the new version of the wiki. Probably just a sizing issue, and I don't know if you can fix it or not. Just pointing it out you.

Cheers. ~DragonXDoom (talkcontribs) 05:17, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

Aah, the title is overlapping the "show" link, making it unclickable. I have a feeling this may be a problem with some of the other collapsible boxes as well. I'll see if I can do something about it real quick. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:51, January 19, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, the problem was affecting the lore boxes for several other games as well. What I'd really like to see is new collapsible code that allows you to expand or collapse a box simply by clicking in the header, thus removing the need for the show/hide links, but until we get something like that, I simply removed the {{navbar}} v-d-e links - I'm not sure why they were added in the first place, but they really don't serve any purpose aside from cluttering the table. There's still some overlap with a few games, but it's not nearly as bad as it was, and all the show/hide links can be clicked now. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:12, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

Cyber Dragons

I was notified by Wasn't that someone has seriously messed with the archetype support cat for "Cyber Dragons". If you check Template:Cyber, it's listing every anime/manga only card as "Cyber Dragon" support. I checked a few of the card pages, and it archsupport1 = Cyber Dragons" isn't showing up on them, so I'm thinking it may be a template issue. If not, could your bot help revert everything? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 16:12, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

It's not just a problem with the Cyber Dragon section of {{Cyber}}, it's the same across every section of that template and of {{Hero}} as well, and it's even displaying on the {{ArchetypeNavbox}} metatemplate, which hasn't been edited since July. It's more likely that this has to do with the fact we finally got the upgrade to MediaWiki 1.16.1 and SMW 1.5.5, meaning it will probably fix itself in a couple of days. If not, we'll need to file a support ticket with Wikia staff. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:00, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
Wow. Alright, I'll guess all we can do is wait around for now. I don't know if it's related, but the "gender" parameter of Template:Infobox/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Character is completely borked too. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:03, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
That seems to be Extension:Negref getting uninstalled or borked in the upgrade; Delt wrapped it in {{IfSemantics}}, leading me to guess that it was packaged with one of the SMW extensions. If that was the case, it must have been forgotten about in the upgrade, so this'll be another support ticket issue. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:13, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
Wonderful. Looking around a bit, a bunch of other parameters are borked too. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:37, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
Are they all using #negref? If so, they'd all get fixed in one fell swoop once this is taken care of. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:46, January 25, 2011 (UTC)
I checked the template, and yes, the broken parameters are all using negref. All of those parameters are usually references with Yu-Gi-Oh! Character Guidebook: The Gospel of Truth, so it makes sense that they're using negref. Incidentally, I'm not sure why the "gender" parameter is using it, unless it put in to use with bishonen male monster spirits. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 20:02, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

Show/Hide Links jumping to top of page

When I use the Show/Hide links on Card Lores and Archetype Nav Boxes, they jump me up to the top of the page. Strangely, this doesn't happen for Show/Hide Links for Card Packs, Card Support Categories, Deck Lists, etc. Also, all the Show/Hide Links that are working normally look very strange when I load the page. Screenshot below.

However, What I think is strange is the fact that it only happens on some Show/Hide links, not all of them. ~DragonXDoom (talkcontribs) 10:42, February 5, 2011 (UTC)
See my last comment above; it's a result of my fix for the labels on the collapsible boxes overlapping the show/hide links, making some of them unclickable for a few people. AFAIK, there is no way to fix this while keeping that fix, without ceasing to use w:c:anime:MediaWiki:Anime-Common.js.
I've noticed that clicking the show/hide link only seems to cause the page to jump to the top when the collapsible box is already uncollapsed. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:39, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Falzar FZ

Hi! I was just writing to inform you of what I see as an abuse of power. User:Falzar FZ has blocked many users and deleted page material. Don't misunderstand, I have nothing wrong with vandals being blocked, but most are just frustrated with the wiki, and I'm sure if they were given a second chance, some of them anyway, would gladly take that opportunity. (Like what you gave me.) However Falzar FZ seems to think otherwise. user: 216.17.228.134 was given an expiry block time of 5 days, however it was changed from 5 days to 3 weeks, and the block time Currently now is 7 months. I looked through the user's history and they did vandalize pages, However, Once they were blocked the vandalize ceased, yet the block time increased. I believe if we were to give this user a second chance, they would take it. it worked with me. (75.71.136.197 (talk) 07:42, February 21, 2011 (UTC))

Can you please at least tell me which pages I shouldn't have deleted? (Apart from the 1 incident where I agreed to delete your Card Trivia at Temporal Machine God Metaion, which has already been marked for deletion, with a valid reason)
I have explained why it was changed to 3 weeks on your talk page. To add on to that, before the 2nd block on that user, I've asked Deltaneos if I should block their talk page access and an extension before I did that.
He replied with "... Feel free to block them from editing their talk page if they continue."
and he did continue, and yet I didn't extend it yet. Even other users were asking if I should stop him, and I replied with if we ignore it, normally, trolls with stop trolling because they're not getting the response they're after, but he didn't, so only after that did I extend the block.
That's like more than 3 chances....
As for the 7 months thing... I have no idea where you came up with that, but the longest block I've placed for continuous vandalism was that 3 weeks one. I have not blocked anyone for continuous vandalism for more than that yet, nor have I changed that block's time since. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 08:07, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
Can I ask why how they 'trolled all over their take page?' I really am not aware of that. and regarding the 7 months block, I never said you set that block time. I was merely stating that the block time had been changed. (by User:Charitwo). and regarding the page deletion, you have no right to decide what information is useless and what isn't. Last time I checked it was okay to point-out details on the card artwork! (75.71.136.197 (talk) 21:34, February 21, 2011 (UTC))
In the case of the deleted card trivia page, it's not that the information is useless, so much as it is that it's patently obvious to anyone looking at the card. If that face belonged to a particular monster, or was clearly drawn from some mythological creature or something, that would be a bit of noteworthy trivia. ;)
As for 216.17.228.134 - their block log only shows two block actions by Falzar, and none by anyone else. Charitwo's most recent block was in January, and only blocked the person for 2 weeks. For that matter, I'm not seeing any blocks for longer than a month since I blocked User:Wilson10o for three months in December. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:18, February 21, 2011 (UTC)
Generally, the only things I delete are either obvious spam/vandalism/nonsense, fan-made items, duplicated/superseded files, unnecessary redirects left from page moves, and pages that have already been marked for deletion (with a reason I agree on) (that trivia page fell into this category). Basically, stuff on the Deletion policy, and the other Deletion page. If it's something I'm not sure of, I mark it for deletion, like what other people generally do, which then gets deleted if others who can delete it agree.
As for the deleted talk page. There were 2 pages actually, the first contained:
[snip]
Followed by:
[snip]
Which was, I must admit, was pretty hilarious at first (due to how desperate he was), but since it eventually became a disruption to other members (ie others asking me why I'm not stopping him), only then did I block him more to prevent it from continuing. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 05:53, February 22, 2011 (UTC)
The only reason I’m upset so much about the trivia is because it was posted by a one-time, anonymous contributor and, not even an hour after it was posted, it was deleted. That kind of blind disregard for people’s ideas is what creates vandals in the first place! (And I should know...) Regarding 216.17.228.134 – he emailed me and informed that he was blocked from a separate wiki (Pokemon wiki) and that the block is effective on the yugioh wiki as well. And how did his talk page affect anything else? It looks like to me it’s just a bunch of gibberish, which YOU yourself said to ignore. And I know you said that ‘became a disruption to other members’ that still doesn’t justify a 3 week block. Couldn’t you of blocked him from editing their talk page without extending the block anymore than it had to of been? (75.71.136.197 (talk) 01:50, February 24, 2011 (UTC))
Actually, it was 'Marked for deletion' after 1 and a half hours, and then, I deleted after another 1 and a half hours. Making it a total of 3 hours. Anyhow, Dinoguy gave a better reason for deleting that 'trivia', I'll keep that point in mind.
I only extended it because of his initial posts. "I was wrongly blocked by an admin, for crimes i did not commit." followed by "haha my favorite is the third one."
which indicates that he is only here to be a troll.
It's ironic how he's also blocked on another wiki... -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 03:27, February 24, 2011 (UTC)
-Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 03:27, February 24, 2011 (UTC)
In cases like that, where there's no reason to think the user is posting in bad faith, it would certainly help to explain exactly why their page is being deleted, but unfortunately this doesn't happen nearly as often as it should (to be totally honest, even I'm guilty of taking the lazy route with this one). As for the blocked anon, none of their edits here inspire any faith in me that they'll do anything besides trolling and vandalism. I'd be happy to have them prove me wrong after their block expires, but without any indication from their past behavior that they'd be willing to change, I won't shorten their block. Whether they're blocked on another wiki has nothing to do with any potential blocks here; it's not technically possible to block a user on one wiki and have that block be effective across other wikis on Wikia (Wikia staff can globally block users from the whole website, but AFAIK they generally only do that when the user is doing damage to a number of different wikis and shows no signs of stopping). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:54, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

Card Galleries

Thanks for fixing the "!" issue in that card gallery. Its in a lot of them, and I never could figure out how to avoid it. Is there any reason you removed the "perrow" part? I really think a row of four cards looks better than a row of three and a row of one. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 21:14, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

No problem; it looks like the syntax has been copied between a lot of them without the people really understanding what it does. As for perrow, depending on the image size, number of images, and browser window width, it can force horizontal scrolling (particularly on the fixed-width Wikia skin). It's better to let the browser decide how many images should be displayed on one line, and to grin and bear it when the browser seemingly makes a bad choice (in such cases, you can probably blame the gallery extension before you blame the browser; in my experience the extension isn't as clean and well-tested as it should be). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:20, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
That's exactly what I did, actually. Delt had done a few card galleries, and copied what he did and modified it for other galleries without really knowing how it worked, so there may be more errors in them too. Fair enough on the perrow issue, I'll leave it be and go ahead and fix the other galleries per your changes later. I'm actually working on a new one in another tab right now, so I'll fix that one up before I save it to. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 21:23, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
I went through and fixed all of the chapter card galleires per your fixes, with the exception of ruby card names. My knowledge of both kanji and wikicode is not sufficient for me to figure out that really works. Out of sheer curiosity, what is "!!" actually supposed to do in the table code besides screw up the spacing? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:29, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
"!" at the beginning of a new line in wikitable markup indicates that a header cell should be generated. If you have more than one header cell in the same row, you can mark the end of the current cell and the beginning of a new one without moving to a new line with "!!" - for example:
{| class="wikitable"
|-
! This is a header cell !! So is this
|-
| This is a data cell || This too
|-
|}
results in
This is a header cell So is this
This is a data cell This too
Once you get the hang of it, {{Ruby}} replacement is pretty straightforward. The template requires two unnamed parameters; the first parameter is the base text and the second is the ruby text: {{Ruby|Base text|Ruby text}} --> Base textRuby text. This is the same as the code <ruby><rb>Base text</rb><rp>(</rp><rt>Ruby text</rt><rp>)</rp></ruby>: Base text(Ruby text).
When you're converting the latter to the former, the important things to look for are the <rb/> and <rt/> tags, which contain the base text and ruby text, respectively (<ruby/> is the "container" tag for the whole thing, and <rp/> contains text that is displayed when the browser doesn't support Ruby markup - the previous example will display as "Base text (Ruby text)" in Firefox and older versions of Internet Explorer, for instance).
There are cases where the Ruby markup will be more complicated, but these are relatively uncommon, and you can leave them alone and ask for help if you're not sure how to handle them. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 23:02, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
Alright, maybe I'll give it a try later. It's something else I can add to my list of things to do when I a edit a card article too. If I edit any given card article, I generally deploy the anime and manga appearances template if it's not there, and get rid of overlinking (which is rampant everywhere for some reason). So there's something else to add to that. Thanks. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:42, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
Yep. I actually started up my bot a few days ago to do some of this stuff... I got it auto-replacing Ruby markup with {{Ruby}} without any problems, and then immediately proceeded to bash my brains out over a regex bug in AWB which is currently stopping me from similarly auto-deploying the card appearances templates. =/ I've noticed the overlinking, but haven't really been doing anything with it myself; I don't think there'd be any simple way to automatically delink stuff if it's already been linked, so it'd be the type of thing I'd have to do manually. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:01, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
I was wondering why that wasn't being deployed quicker. Heh. And overlinking is a real pet peeve of mine. Other wikis seem to have underlinking problems. To me, overlinking looks really messy, and it's everywhere on this wiki some reason. Ultimately it's a minor thing, but my OCD disagrees with the rest of the brain. Something I've just noticed. Template:Decklist seems to be showing all three lists by default instead of hiding them. Also, to be sure my browser is right, ruby text should only appear in the Cardtable header, correct? I'm not seeing it where the actual "kanji" parameter is displayed when a page is saved, just in the header. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 19:32, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, that's a known issue; see Forum:Move away from Anime-Common.js and company?#Done. Correct, the ruby version of a card's Japanese name only appears in the card table header. Confusingly, the "kanji" parameter is what is used for the ruby name, whereas the "jpname" parameter is for the ruby-less kanji name (really, the Japanese name parameters need to be reworked, but updating all 7000+ transclusions would be one massive job). ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:00, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

But yes, we all are not perfect, I have seen many mistakes with my friends and companies as I went through my write career. --FredCat 13:17, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
So there aren't any figures/gestures that look quite similar to each other (and, thus, could potentially be confused for each other)? That's actually what I was getting at. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:19, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Exact = Perfect, Specify
Extract = Dead
Therefore Exact ≠ Extract in ASL.
That's how I knew the difference in the sign language. --FredCat 18:21, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Interesting... but I wasn't talking specifically about "exact" and "extract". >.> ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:24, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
I see, just ask me some more if you like to. Any kind of questions are good for me. ^_^ --FredCat 18:32, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
All right, perhaps my question would be better phrased as: are there any hand signs that you have trouble keeping straight? (this might be because they are very similar visually to each other, or because their meanings are very close, or anything else) If you do, chances are good that others have trouble with them as well, and would confirm my initial statement that I find it likely that even sign languages such as ASL have vocabulary that native speakers find easily confusable. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:40, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
That's good question... Only thing I remember seeing other civilians back in my E School (Class that below Middle School) was that they had trouble making a sign for "Pie" and "Pizza", since they both had almost exact same old ASL sign process (P-shape hand slice on the palm in X line) so I had to take over the "shop" to correct the shopper's understandable of which is which. But for now, Pie has same shape as "Stop" (open hand, thumb away, smashed on palm, but for Pie, just slice in V line on the palm instead) while Pizza has spelling Z twice (X-shape finger, shake in the air that following the Z way, quickly) to make it easier to understand them apart. --FredCat 18:53, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Aah, cool. =) (I can't say I really understood your explanation of the signs, but that's more because I'm not familiar with ASL than that you didn't explain them very well) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 09:21, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Indeed... good thing I learned and understood ASL as my primary language. --FredCat 10:42, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I wish I could've been raised bilingually myself (and, actually, my father was a polyglot; he seemed to have lacked the patience to teach me or my brothers any other languages, though =( ). I took some Spanish in high school, but not much of it wore off on me, admittedly... I do intend to try and learn some languages at some point, though, and it'd definitely be nice to look at ASL or another sign language at that time. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 11:31, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Ah aw... your old man need some rest for himself, you can learn some various languages through sites or by the college, simple as a pie. --FredCat 11:40, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Yep, I know. ;) I've actually been trying to pick up some Japanese from anime (perhaps not the best way to learn, though it is a great way to get used to how the spoken language sounds). It would help if I was somewhat more observant... =/ ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:30, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Possible template conflict

Weird issues at Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - Chapter 053, none of which were present before my previous edit. I replaced ruby code. Not sure if its the cause, but now Template:Chapter summary doesn't seem to be working and the "next" and "previous" infobox parameters are now displaying chapter links not by chapter name, but by number. Looking through my changes, I can't see what's wrong. Nothing seems to be amiss on the other pages either. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 18:55, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

No, it's not your fault; Semantic MediaWiki was down (so was Negref, actually). And it's totally not my fault, either. XD *wonders how much more it'll take for a Wikia staffer to swing through and yell at me/us* At any rate, they're both back up (for now, at least), and a null edit fixed the appearance of the page. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 19:02, March 14, 2011 (UTC)
I don't think it's because of anything you did. SMW was also disabled on other wikis yesterday. -- Deltaneos (talk) 12:08, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Well, the timing certainly didn't help. SMW went down pretty much immediately after I made that edit. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:16, March 15, 2011 (UTC)

exceed summon

How do you know that tokens cannot be used for exceed summon? —This unsigned comment was made by 86.27.120.193 (talkcontribs) 20:19, March 17, 2011

It was confirmed in V Jump. When the information was added to Exceed Summon, Blackwings0605 linked in their edit summary to a scan of the page. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 21:04, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

GX's Future

So where would one find valid info about GX's future, at least the dub's future that is? --Dark Yugi (talkcontribs) 21:18, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Mainly, official announcements (press releases or blog posts on 4Kids' website, for instance) or comments made through official channels (such as their YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter pages). I think we'd also be fine with an email, if a wiki member known for their veracity were to state that they had received such an email. Really, that whole bit needs to be either given a source or simply removed; speculation and claims of "I emailed them and they told me this, even though I can't prove it and none of you have ever heard of me before, so no one can vouch for my honesty" don't have any place in mainspace articles. If no source is given after a couple more days, I'll probably remove it myself. ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:29, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
Ah, so just check around those locations then? --Dark Yugi (talkcontribs) 00:03, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

water exceed deck

can you help me create a water deck based around exceed summoning? Posably using Superanchient deepseaking please. —This unsigned comment was made by 86.27.120.193 (talkcontribs) 21:56, March 17, 2011

Hello, unfortunately I can't offer any help with decks. If you ask over in the deck help forum, someone there should be able to help you. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 22:24, March 17, 2011 (UTC)
