Heraldry Beast

Could you tell me what the hell is going on with the "Members" link in this infobox of the "Heraldry Beast" page? The article, List of "Heraldry Beast" cards" exists, but the infobox is linking as a red link and is attempting to link to List of "Heraldry Beast" cards, List of "Heraldry Beast" cards, List of "Heraldry" cards, List of "Heraldry" cards for some reason. I'm thinking it has something to do with "Heraldry" being redirected to "Heraldry Beast" and the unredirected back to its own article.
Also, can you look at "Heraldry Beast Aberconway" and/or "Heraldry Beast Bernard's Falcon" and isolate the Japanese text for "Heraldry Beast" based on "High Medallion Arts". I can't quite do so. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:40, May 16, 2012 (UTC)
I think it's a SMW caching issue related to (as you said) making stuff redirects and then reverting; it's fixed itself, so there's not much for me to do now (though I tried plenty of stuff before it fixed itself).
Done. Also, where are the "English" lores for "High Medallion Arts" and the "Number" monster coming from? I thought we only did "English anime" lores for anime-only cards? I'm especially asking since I'm not seeing any evidence that the anime lores actually explicitly support "Heraldry Beast"... ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:35, May 16, 2012 (UTC)
What? The cards are being released in Abyss Rising and the lores are from the spoiler list, I suppose. The anime lores are...from the anime. And the anime effects don't support "Heraldry Beast". Its the real effects that do. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:34, May 16, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, I"m watching episode 54 now. Tron seems to say Monshōjū when he uses "High Medallion Arts" and the text on the anime card image itself appears longer than the text we have transcribed in "jpanimelore". Its anime effect may also support "Heraldry Beast". A better image is needed to confirm it though. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:59, May 17, 2012 (UTC)
Right, I didn't think to check if the cards were actually being released; I just assumed they were currently anime-only. I found a JP lore for Number 8, but couldn't find one for HMA (not that I either looked terribly hard or particularly know where to look...). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:06, May 17, 2012 (UTC)
Bit of a necro bump, and you might be aware already, but Heraldry Beast page has been acting up again for a few days now. Similarly, Navigation links are saying Card Gallery:Absorbing Jar doesn't exist. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 13:11, May 31, 2012 (UTC)
Fixed it for good, I think. The problem was List of "Heraldry" cards, which was left over from Heraldry. Since the latter was redirected to Heraldry Beast, the list started acting like a "Heraldry Beast" member list, and because of the way the links are designed and SMW works, that caused the weird links. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 17:59, June 1, 2012 (UTC)
Then it must be the existence of Card Gallery:Absorb Jar that's causing the other problem I mentioned. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 18:07, June 1, 2012 (UTC)
Oh, right, I forgot about that part. =/ Yeah, that's what was causing it. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:18, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

Question Regarding Retro1 and Retro2

Just a quick question for you. Were the Retro Packs released in the U.S.? I see they have the EN after the Card Code. However the Release Dates Say European TCG Releas and they have the European Union flag at the top of the page. It is sending mixed messages to me. Glittersword TalkContributions 18:28, May 31, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure I have a pack of RP01 (which, given that I live in the Midwest and buy my cards almost exclusively from Walmart, would be pretty weird if the sets weren't released in the U.S.), and the yugioh-card.com RP02 page explicitly mentions a North American version of the set (unfortunately, like for all releases prior to Konami regaining TCG distribution rights from Upper Deck, yugioh-card.com doesn't have an information on RP01). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:05, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

Infobox migration

So, what's the plan? Are there any thoughts on us starting to convert all the old infoboxes, which use the ACG material, to the Wikipedia-like ones? -- Deltaneos (talk) 14:51, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, that's definitely the plan, though I was intending to wait until I did some more work on the language support in Infobox archetype (after which it would be broken out into a subtemplate of Infobox so it could be more easily reused), and perhaps looked a bit more at the styling.
The long-term plan is also to create dedicated infoboxes for a lot of stuff that currently uses only the generic ACG infobox modules, if you're curious. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:08, June 1, 2012 (UTC)

Another archetype

"Vision Polymerization" (which should really be at "Vision Fusion", if you ask me) seems to specify just "Vision" cards. Which would include "Vision HEROes", "Phantom Magician" and probably some other cards. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:00, June 4, 2012 (UTC)

That does look like a new archetype, though it would not support "Vision HERO" cards; it specifies "幻影ヴィジョン" whereas the Japanese name of "Vision HERO" is "V・HEROヴィジョンヒーロー". ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:55, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
.....Then the effect itself is wrong. When the card was used in the manga, it was used to fuse Vision HEROes (and only Vision HEROes, actually). Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:05, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Manga logic? =D ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:08, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
So, what do you suppose we should do, then? Because I have no clue. We should probably check to see if any of the other things we have listed as "Vision HERO" support cards have this same issue... Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:14, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
For actual archsupport, go with a literal reading of the effect, and add a note to "Vision HERO"? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:53, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Meaning we would create a "Vision" archetype page and note that "Vision HEROes" apply for some reason? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:55, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Basically, yeah. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:57, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
I actually really don't like that idea. That said, I have no other ideas myself. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:18, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
It'd be similar to "Papillon" in that regard, wouldn't it? --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 04:23, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Yup. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 04:50, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
I can't say I like it either, but, like you, I'm at a loss as to what else we might do in this situation, so we might as well continue what we started with "Papillon". ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 05:06, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Since the Japanese lore doesn't put quotation marks around the word "Vision", would it be okay to assume its not referring to the cards by a portion of their name? -- Deltaneos (talk) 11:51, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
I dunno. We (or at least I) have treated it as name-calling (heh) in the past, chalking it up to weird manga being weird; if we didn't do so here, we'd also have to go back through and find/fix all previous instances of this (and that still leaves the question of how exactly we would handle these: if we don't treat them as identical to archetype support, how do we note them?). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:42, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm not aware of any others besides "Prayer to the Evil Spirits", but I'm sure they do exist. I may find some when I get to the manga cards (I'll record them on one of my sandboxes pages in-case we do decided to change them). Currently, I have a few hundred more anime cards to update first. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 19:22, June 4, 2012 (UTC)
"Forbidden Mantra" is another one that doesn't use quotes and it pluralises the name. I don't suppose the English manga shone any light on the "Prayer to the Evil Spirits" example? -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:35, June 6, 2012 (UTC)
I dunno; "Prayer" appears after the last 5D's chapter to be serialized in Shonen Jump, and Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha didn't continue the serialization (though it has featured the first chapter of ZEXAL). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:31, June 6, 2012 (UTC)

Question about Template:CardTable2/doc

Why is that everytime I hit edit on that page to view the Source Code the system takes me back to the login Page and then back to the Doc page without ever allowing me to view the source code? Glittersword TalkContributions 00:24, June 8, 2012 (UTC)

That sounds like an error on Wikia's end; this link should work fine without having to log in at all (it worked for me while logged out, at least). On that note, I'm gonna have to do something about the cascading protection on CardTable2; it also protects the /doc subpage, which we probably really don't want to happen. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 04:15, June 8, 2012 (UTC)

Sect's surname

Sect's surname is said in this scene in chapter 10 of the Japanese manga. Can you see if it's mentioned in the English manga too? I think I made a stupid mistake that's been uncorrected for two years. I moved the page to Sect Injuin, when III spelled it without that first "n" in the previous edit. -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:17, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

III got it right; the English version has his surname as "Ijuin". ;)
If there are any other names you need me to check or anything, I can easily get at the issues of SJ with chapters 9 through 14 (where the magazine ended); my earlier issues are all packed away so it'd be a bit more trouble for me to find the right issue for earlier chapters, but I could if needed. I also subscribe to Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha, which has featured the first chapter of ZEXAL, so I can also check stuff from that if needed. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:23, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Card Table Set Question

When looking at Ancient Gear Beast I noticed that the sets were done in a format I haven't noticed before.

Dark Revelation Volume 3

rather than

Dark Revelation Volume 3 (DR3-EN187 - R)

(You'll need to see these in edit mode to see the coding differences of course)

Is this an old style that is just hanging around or is it a new format that we are switching to or does it really make any difference at all?

For consistency's sake I think we need to use one or the other and I personally prefer the second style cause I think that style is in way more pages. Glittersword TalkContributions 05:34, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

It's a "bleeding-edge" style, if you will - that's the style that we'll eventually use across all our card pages, but Card table set isn't actually ready for general use; I have at least one change planned that will break all current transclusions, and there's work on other templates that also has to be done before it's ready to go. For now, if you see it on any card pages, you should remove it. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 07:17, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Images Format

Hi, I have a question about this, I hope you can help me. I've been uploading images to wikia that I have found on the internet (specilly Spanish cards) and I keep the original format (*.jpg), but if I get the card in real life I can scan it in *.png format and I've noticed that it looks better. My question is: Can I upload the *.jpg card again but in *.png with better quality? And if I can, What should I do with the *.jpg? Mark it for deletion?... BTW this is the quality i can get. Thanks in advance. AxSkyex21|ʞlɐʇ*© 17:19, June 20, 2012 (UTC)

Hey AxSkyex21, sorry about the late response.
Per our image policy, we prefer card images in PNG format, so you're doing the right thing there. ;) When you replace a JPG with a PNG, you should change all uses of the former to instead use the latter, and mark the former for deletion (it helps if you include a link to the latter in the "reason" parameter, too). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 18:21, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
Also better off not get them all captains... It teased all admins when they see last three letters of the URL Address being bigger than rest of the links. Make it look like "whatever.blahblah.png" instead of "whatever.blahblah.PNG" and all those shits. --iFredCat 19:11, June 21, 2012 (UTC)
Maybe because we have another life outside of here, i think. I ask because i've been located few cards than don't look very good and i have it on my collection, now i have time to scan (and Duel). Anyway, thanks a lot for the help. n_n AxSkyex21|ʞlɐʇ*© 05:15, June 27, 2012 (UTC)

Neo Ark Cradle

Who is this NeoArkadia? What do they do on the "Neo Ark Cradle" forum?  HHT   - (Talk to the Turtle) 19:59, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

This is the Neo Ark Cradle forum, and this is NeoArkadia (you might need to have an account to view that page; I'm not sure) - he's the main admin on there. Neo Ark Cradle is a major hangout for fans of the anime/manga (in my experience, at least; I don't actually know much about the YGO fan base beyond this wiki). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 20:04, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Depends on your time scale. They seem to have started on that website in August 2011, though I don't know if they actually started then, or if they moved from a different site. Sure. And for the most part, so is NAC. Ark does do some OCG stuff, but he himself even admits that there are better OCG translators. In many cases though, they are the first to have new information, which is always nice. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 09:33, June 30, 2012 (UTC)

Puzzle and Yonezato Hospitals

Can you get the English name of the hospital in chapter 7 of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. We're currently calling it Puzzle Hospital. I've just noticed it looks very very similar to Yonezato Hospital from Yu-Gi-Oh! (Duelist). Yes, Yonezato Hospital looks very different in the manga than in the anime image currently on its page. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:43, June 30, 2012 (UTC)

If you're talking about the hospital shown on page 16, immediately after the conclusion of Akiza's Duel with Ran, the English manga (at least as published in SJ) also calls it "Puzzle Hospital" (the exact caption printed is "Satellite, Puzzle Hospital", if you're curious).
