Appearance
As suggested by the name, they are spirit-like little girls, wearing robes that look like typically far-east traditional clothing.
Etymology
In OCG, each card has a name with a double meaning. For example, the Japanese name of "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" (幽鬼うさぎ Yuki Usagi) literally means "Ghost Ogre Rabbit" but is pronounced the same way as "Snow Rabbit" (雪兎 Yuki Usagi). The English names consist of both meanings.
Playing style
The members of this series all have anti-meta Quick Effects designed to disrupt the opponent's plays by discarding themselves.
- "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" sends itself from the hand or field to the Graveyard in order to destroy a face-up card that has activated its effect. Despite the fact it does not negate its "target", this may put the opponent in a difficult situation, as they will have lost one of their combo pieces. Also, it is particularly effective against Continuous Spell/Trap Cards and Field Spell Cards, because they have to remain on the field in order to resolve their effects, as well as some monsters, such as "Naturia Beast" and "Zombie Master".
- "Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries" discards itself in order to banish all copies of an opposing Extra Deck monster, after a copy of that monster has been revealed from its owner's Extra Deck. This can be used to get rid of powerful monsters that are traditionally the lynchpin of some strategies, such as "Cyber Dragon Infinity", "Toadally Awesome", "Firewall Dragon", "Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon" or "ABC-Dragon Buster".
- "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" negates any effect that either moves a card from the Main Deck to the hand, Special Summons a monster from the Main Deck or sends a card from the Main Deck to the Graveyard. This can be deadly if used against cards with high costs and/or restrictions, such as "Pot of Desires", "A Hero Lives", "Left Arm Offering" or "Darklord Ixchel". It can also avoid the floating effects of monsters like the "Yang Zing", "Gusto", etc., and prevent a player from capitalizing on their opponent's string of Special Summons with "Maxx "C"".
