Although Yugi Mutou was able to destroy "The God of the Obelisk", Atem continues to press the offensive by Summoning their favorite monster - the "Dark Magician".

SummaryEdit

Atem watches in shock as "The God of the Obelisk" and "Silent Swordsman LV3" destroy one another, and Jonouchi gasps that Yugi took down "Obelisk", but Yugi thinks to himself that he still hasn't surpassed Atem. As the two monsters fade in wisps of smoke, Atem chuckles and notes to himself that his partner has grown. Jonouchi admits he thought the other Yugi would be on top, but neither is giving an inch, and Honda comments that all they can do is watch. Anzu thinks that Yugi is getting stronger and stronger, wondering how Atem feels watching and wondering if he's happy or said. She believes as the other Yugi, he's happy, but may be sad as Atem, who Sets a card to end his turn.

Dwelling on the face-down card, Yugi declares his turn, reflecting that he and Atem shared a body for so long and now they're facing one another in a Duel. He thinks about what he would do and how he would think and fight if he were Atem, and decides he'd be afraid to lose and be separated from his friends to go to the other place alone, so to prevent that he'd use his strongest cards, including the God cards and his most trusted servants. But the God cards need sacrifices and it's risky to include so many low-Level monsters in a Deck, so Atem probably only included one God, so now that "Obelisk" is in his Graveyard, he'd play that card next. He Sets two cards face-down and Summons "Marshmallon" in Defense Position, ending his turn. He's feeling sorrow and pain and knows his other self feels them too, so he has to defeat the part of himself in Atem.

Atem declares his turn and draws, mentally telling his partner to get ready, for he will use his full power and dominate this Duel. He Summons "Jack's Knight" in Attack Position and ends his turn. Yugi declares his turn and draws, Summoning the "Blockman" in Defense Position. Atem declares his next turn, thinking that if Yugi wins somehow and takes his sword, then he must stab his soul without mercy. He sacrifices his two monsters and Summons the Dark Magician", Yugi gasping its name to himself. Jonouchi gasps that the other Yugi's partner is here and he's the Pharaoh's best servant who's gotten him out of all kinds of pinches, Honda agreeing this means he's serious. Atem mentally challenges Yugi to just try and take his sword, as his grip is firm and his aim is true, and he orders "Dark Magician" to attack "Marshmallon" with "Black Magic" and destroys it. Yugi notes that Atem knew "Marshmallon" could only be defeated with magic, and thinks that while the "Dark Magician" was reassuring to have on his side, there's no stronger foe, but Yugi will have to defeat him or this fight is hopeless. Atem isn't done yet, Setting a card to end his turn and telling Yugi that it's his turn.

Yugi gets ready, thinking that he has to take a chance here, and he'll lose the Duel if he fails. Jonouchi wonders how Yugi can beat the "Dark Magician", and Honda believes this to be the crucial moment where Yugi wins or loses. Yugi activates a Spell Card, "Gold Sarcophagus", which he places a card in to prevent either player from using. Atem dwells on it, and Jonouchi wonders what card Yugi chose, while Anzu notes that it resembles the Millennium Puzzle box and Honda realizes she's right. Anzu notes that it's the box that held the Millennium Puzzle, the box of friendship that brought the two Yugis together. Yugi has another move, the "Block Release" effect of "Blockman", which splits into several bricks to Atem's shock. Yugi explains that "Blockman" can split into parts equal to the number of turns that have passed since it was Summoned, and the bricks reform into two "Block Tokens". Sugoroku is pleased with his grandson, as he can sacrifice the Block Tokens to Summon a high-Level monster. Vowing he'll defeat the "Dark Magician" with this monster, Yugi sacrifices the Block Tokens to Summon "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction". Atem gasps its name and Yugi declares that its effect destroys all the monsters on the field no matter how strong they are. Jonouchi believes Yugi will have a chance to win if he can defeat the "Dark Magician" and Yugi orders the "Giga Rays of Destruction" effect of "Gandora".

But to Yugi's shock, Atem grins as "Gandora' blasts energy rays from the orbs on its body, and he activates his Trap Card, "Mirror Force". Yugi can only gasp "Oh no!" to himself as the holy barrier reflects the "Giga Rays" and "Gandora" dies by its own hand. Yugi's Life Points fall to 1000 as the cost of using the effect of "Gandora" and Jonouchi cries that Yugi doesn't have any monsters left, so he'll lose if the "Dark Magician" attacks him. The smoke clears as Atem looks at Yugi in determination.

Yugi Sacrifices the two "Block Tokens" to Sacrifice Summon "Gandora the Dragon of Destruction" (0/0) in Attack Position. As "Gandora" was Summoned, Yugi activates its effect, paying half his Life Points (Yugi: 2000 → 1000 LP) to destroy all other monsters on the field when "Gandora" attacks, but he must send it to the Graveyard at the end of the turn. As Yugi attacked, Atem activates his Set Trap Card "Mirror Force", forcing the attack of "Gandora" to target all monsters Yugi controls instead. "Gandora" is destroyed.

Duel continues in the next chapter.
