  • Mai gets hold of The Winged Dragon of Ra, but can't use it because her blood is not part of the Royal Egyptians and therefore, can't read the ancient text on the card.

Featured Duel: Mai Valentine vs. Yami Marik - Part 3

Duel continued from previous episode.

Mai's turn
Mai Sets 1 card (Continuous Trap Card "Gravity Bind").

Yami Marik's turn
Marik Normal Summons "Holding Legs" in Attack Position (800 ATK / 600 DEF) to return all Magic Cards and Trap Cards on the field to their owner's hand then Special Summons "Sacred Stone of Ojhat" in Attack Position (0 ATK / 0 DEF). "Holding Arms" then "Holding Legs" attacks Mai (Mai: 2100 → 1300 → 800 Life Points). Yami Marik then chains the ancient text on "The Winged Dragon of Ra's" card to take control of it ("The Winged Dragon of Ra": ???? → 5400 ATK / ???? → 3900 DEF). "The Winged Dragon of Ra" attacks Mai (Mai: 800 → 0 Life Points).

Marik wins.

Changes to the English Version

  • The cuffs are obscured when they grab Mai's arms and legs in the US version.
  • Mai's skirt is made longer in the dub.
  • A shot of Holding Legs merging into the stone is cut from the US version.
  • A shot of Mai being attacked is cut from the US version.
  • A shot of Marik crossing his arms as he begins the chant is cut from the US version.
  • In the dub when Winged Dragon of Ra attacks Mai her mind will be trapped in the Shadow Realm forever, in the Japanese version she will die.
  • Cut from the US version is a scene in which Yami Marik explains his birth was at the tombkeeper ceremony on the day Marik was ten. The pain and suffering his father gave him made him want to destroy himself, and he thus created another personality to live and protect himself.
  • Yami Marik about to kill Yugi with the dagger is cut.
  • Mai's eyes are closed in the dub when she gets her mind sent to the shadow realm/dies.
