Featured Duel: Marik Ishtar vs. Joey Wheeler - Part 3
Duel continues from previous episode.
Turn 14: Joey Wheeler
- Joey draws Gamble.
- Attacks Marik directly with "Lava Golem", but Marik activates Trap Card "Relieve Monster", returning "Plasma Eel" to his hand. The second effect of "Relieve Monster" then Special Summons "Plasma Eel" back to Marik's side of the field (500 ATK / 1200 DEF) in Defense Position. Since it can't be destroyed by battle, "Lava Golem" does not destroy it.
- "Helpoemer's" effect activates from Marik's Graveyard: Joey discards "Gamble".
- "Lava Golem's" effect inflicts 700 damage to Joey (Joey: 2900 → 2200 Life Points)
- Note: In the real game Lava Golem inflicts 1000 damage.
Turn 15: Yami Marik
- Marik Draws and Activates Magic Card "Machine Duplication", Special Summoning another two "Plasma Eels" (500 ATK / 1200 DEF) to the field in Attack Position.
- Two of Marik's "Plasma Eels" equip themselves to Joey's "Rocket Warrior" and "Lava Golem".
- Sets a card.
Turn 16: Joey Wheeler
- Joey draws "Gilford the Lightning".
- Activates "Graceful Dice" and rolls a die. He gets a six, so "Plasma Eel's" ATK is increased by six times its original strength ("Plasma Eel": 500 → 3000 ATK / 1200 DEF). Because "Plasma Eel's" ATK now exceeds 500, "Machine Duplication" and the two "Plasma Eels" that are Equip Cards are destroyed, freeing Joey's monsters.
- Tributes "Panther Warrior", "Rocket Warrior", and "Lava Golem" to Summon "Gilford the Lightning" (2800 ATK / 1400 DEF) in Attack Position. Its effect immediately activates upon being summoned: all of Marik's monsters are destroyed(in this case, his "Plasma Eel").
- Attacks Marik directly with "Gilford the Lightning", but Marik activates "Nightmare Mirror", negating the attack, inflicting 1000 damage to Joey (Joey: 2200 → 1200 Life Points) and allowing Marik to discard the "The Winged Dragon of Ra" from his hand.
- "Helpoemer's" effect activates from the Graveyard, but Joey has no cards in his hand so he doesn't discard anything.
Turn 17: Yami Marik
- Draws and Activates "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon "The Winged Dragon of Ra" from his Graveyard back to the field (? ATK / ? DEF) in Attack Position. Marik then transforms it into "Egyptian God Phoenix" (0 ATK / 0 DEF).
Changes To The English Dub
- The pan of the field at the very beginning of the episode is cut.
- A brief scene of Marik explaining what Machine Duplication does is removed.
- A close up of Joey screaming in pain is also removed.
- Cut short is a scene of Joey saying that Gilford the Lightning is going to kill Marik.
- Monster Reborn's cross is changed in the English version.
