The dread of "Golden Castle of Stromberg".

• The Duel keeps on. Siegfried looks amused at Yami's confidence when he claims that he will Destroy this accursed Field Spell Card.

• Kaiba departs the scene, claiming that this is Yami's battle and he has his own battle to fight: stop the virus.

• Siegfried reveals one of "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" Effects: it forces both parties to Battle. Besides, when the Opponent's Monster is Destroyed, the Opponent shall suffer Battle Damage equal to that Monster's 1/2 ATK points. It's obvious that Siegfried himself added this Effect.

• In the meanwhile, Kaiba and Mokuba reach the control center and begin working on halting the virus program: Mokuba thinks that he won't let Siegfried get away with betraying his brother's trust.

• Another Effect is soon revealed: the Maintenance Cost of this Field Spell Card forces the Opponent Player to Discard HALF of his Deck to the Graveyard! It'd seem that this was one reason why it wasn't intended to be used in real Duels. Siegfried has edited it so that the Opponent instead of the Controller will bear this cost.

Crisis.

• Elsewhere around the world, several Duel Disk systems begin to malfunction: it's an effect of the Virus, obviously enough.

Yami's comeback.

• Yami barely survives an Attack which would've costed him the Duel. Yami Special Summons an Effect Monster with an Effect of Destroying all of the Opponent's Card. Unfortunately, it too fails, since Siegfried foresaw that possibility.

• However, Yami was aiming for something else: he's used all but 1 Card in his Deck! Thus, he can't toss "half a Card" to the Graveyard and can't pay the Field Spell Card's Maintenance Cost! "Golden Castle of Stromberg" is finally Destroyed!

• The virus is finally halted and Kaiba realizes Yami found the weakness of the Card. He orders for all systems to be linked to the backup ones and reboot it.

Yami's Triumph.

• Even though Leonhart manages to Tribute Summon a very powerful Monster, Yami, by Special Summoning "Black Magician" and using a combo of "Necromancy" and "Diffusion Wave-Motion", wins the Duel.

• Yami consoles Leon: he fought his best and didn't give up until the very end. He tells him that he's a "True Duelist". Leon breaks down into tears.

• Siegfried, being the bad loser he is, claims that the virus program has already managed what he sought. Kaiba comes in and claims that he's already restored the main computer to normal.

• Leonhart tries to reason with him: he tells him that he knew the whole thing was pointless. Siegfried collapses and mutters if, in the end, he can't win over Kaiba. Kaiba claims no-one can. Leonhart tries to explain what he's learned: if you give up, all's over. But if he keeps on moving forward with high spirits, someday, he can accomplish something. He wants to help him. He pleads of him to share his pains with him.

• Yami & Yuugi look on and see that the thing was solved in a neat manner.

• Yami's victory is announced: Amelda, next to the Pisa Tower of Italy, watches. Valon, near Barcelona's "Sagrada Família" also watches. Insector Haga and Dinosaur Ryuzaki curse in Tokyo, Kujaku Mai looks on from somewhere else.

Back home.

• After the victory, Mokuba fulfills his promise: he arranges for Yuugi & co. to return to Japan with a KC plane. When Otogi comment's he'd like to meet Shizuka, both Jounouchi and Honda hold him and place and tell him off. The Professor tells Sugoroku "not to do anything reckless". Sugoroku plays the strong but his waist ache comes back. Rebecca tells Yuuugi that they must have a new Duel in the future.

• It's finally the time to open Yami's world of memories!

Notes

• Leonhart's "Pumpkin Carriage" and "Iron Hans" are not affected by "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" third Special Ability (being forced to battle), because they are in Defense Position.

• For those wanting an explanation of how Yami ends up with only 1 Card left: 40 Card Deck to start. When "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" Effect Activates the first time, he has 28 Cards left in his Deck (5 opening Hand, 2 for "Pot of Greed" and 5 Turns have passed). Half his Deck is then discarded to "Golden Castle of Stromberg" (14 left). He Draws for the Turn (13), Then uses "King's Knight" to Special Summon "Jack's Knight" (12). Plays "Card of Sanctity" Drawing 6 (6 Cards left). Then "Royal Straight Slasher" to Remove 5, leaving 1 Card remaining.

Yami Yuugi's Turn

• (Yami Yuugi's Deck - 28)
• Second Turn since Leonhart's "Spinning Wheel Spindle" has been Activated: next Turn Yami's "Queen's Knight" will return to the Field.
• Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" third Special Ability, Yami's "Dark Magician Girl" is forced to battle. It Attacks Leon's "Pumpkin Carriage".
  • Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg" fourth Special Ability, Yami's "Dark Magician Girl" is Destroyed before it deals or receives Battle Damage and Yami is inflicted Damage equal to half his Monster's ATK i.e. 500 damage (Yami: 2200 → 1700 Life Points).
    • Thanks to its Special Effect, "Glass Slippers" is Equipped back to Leonhart's "Cinderella" increasing her ATK by 1000 ("Cinderella": 300 → 1300 ATK / 600 DEF).
• Yami Sets a Card.

Leonhart von Schroider's Turn

• Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" fifth Special Ability, Yami is forced to send half his Deck to the Graveyard. (Yami Yuugi's Deck - 14)
• Leonhart Summons "Forest Wolf" (1800 ATK / 300 DEF) in Attack Position.
• Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" third Special Ability, Leonhart's "Cinderella" is forced to Attack. It Attacks Yami Directly (Yami: 1700 → 400 Life Points).
• Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" third Special Ability, Leonhart's "Forest Wolf" is forced to Attack. It Attacks Yami Directly.
  • Yami Activates Trap Card "Dark Magic Retribution": he Special Summons "Dark Magician Girl" (2000 ATK / 1700 DEF) to the Field for one Turn, and blocks Leonhart's attack. "Forest Wolf" is Destroyed (Leonhart: 2100 → 1900 Life Points)
• Due to "Dark Magic Retribution's" Effect, "Dark Magician Girl" returns to Yami's Graveyard.

Yami Yuugi's Turn

• Third Turn since Leon's "Spinning Wheel Spindle" has been Activated: Yami's "Queen's Knight" (1500 ATK / 1600 DEF) returns to the Field.
• Sets two Cards.
• Activates Spell Card "Card of Sanctity" to make him and Leonhart Draw until both have 6 Cards in their Hand. (Yami Yuugi's Deck - 7)
• Summons "King's Knight" (1600 ATK / 1400 DEF), which allows him to immediately Special Summon "Jack's Knight" (1900 ATK / 1000 DEF) from his Deck. (Yami Yuugi's Deck - 6)
• Activates Spell Card "Royal Straight": Yami Tributes "Queen's Knight", "King's Knight", and "Jack's Knight" to Special Summon "Royal Straight Slasher" (2400 ATK / 1350 DEF) in Attack Position. (NOTE: Royal Straight Slasher was sent to the Graveyard when Golden Castle's Effect Activated last Turn.)
• Activates "Royal Straight Slasher's" Special Ability: Yami sends "Kuriboh" (Level 1), "Old Vindictive Magician" (Level 2), "Giant Soldier of Stone" (Level 3), "Big Shield Gardna" (Level 4) and "Curse of Dragon" (Level 5) from his Deck to the Graveyard to destroy all Cards on Leonhart's side of the Field. • To avoid being forced to Attack with it due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" third Special Ability, Yami activates Spell Card "Time Travel": he Removes his "Royal Straight Slasher" from the Field until Leonhart's next Turn.

Leonhart von Schroider's Turn

• Due to "Golden Castle of Stromberg's" fifth Special Ability, Yami is forced to send half his Deck to the Graveyard. However Yami reveals he only has one Card left in his Deck, making it impossible to discard half of it. This automatically Destroys "Golden Castle of Stromberg".
• Due to "Time Travel's" Effect, "Royal Straight Slasher" (2400 ATK / 1350 DEF) returns to Yami's side of the Field in Attack Position.
• Leonhart Activates Spell Card "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon "Cinderella" (300 ATK / 600 DEF) back from the Graveyard: it allows him to Special Summon "Pumpkin Carriage" (0 ATK / 800 DEF) in Defense Position.
• Tributes "Cinderella" and "Pumpkin Carriage" to Summon "Hexe Trude" (2600 ATK / 1800 DEF) in Attack Position.
• Uses "Hexe Trude" to Attack Yami's "Royal Straight Slasher" (Yami: 400 → 200 Life Points).
  • Due to its Special Ability, "Hexe Trude's" ATK increases by 400 ("Hexe Trude": 2600 → 3000 ATK / 1800 DEF).

Yami Yuugi's Turn

• Sets a Card.
• Activates Spell Card "Emergency Provisions": Yami Tributes his Set Card ("Chain Destruction") to gain 1000 LP (Yami: 200 → 1200 Life Points).
• Activates Spell Card "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon "Dark Magician" (2500 ATK / 2100 DEF) back from his Graveyard in Attack Position (NOTE: it was one of the cards Yami sent to the Graveyard due to Leonhart's "Golden Castle of Stromberg").
• Activates his Set Spell Card "Necromancy": Yami can Special Summon four Monsters from Leon's "Graveyard" back to Leon's side of the Field in Defense Position. He Special Summons "Little Red Riding Hood" (800 ATK / 1200 DEF), "Forest Hunter" (1200 ATK / 800 DEF), "Iron Hans" (1200 ATK / 800 DEF) and "Iron Knight" (1700 ATK / 700 DEF).
• Due to "Iron Knight's" Effect, since "Iron Hans" is on the Field, "Iron Knight's" ATK drops by 1000 ("Iron Knight's": 1700 → 700 ATK / 700 DEF).
• Activates his Set Spell Card "Diffusion Wave-Motion": Yami Pays 1000 LP (Yami: 1200 → 200 Life Points) so that his "Dark Magician" can Attack all of Leonhart's Monsters once each.
  • Yami's "Dark Magician" Attacks & Destroys Leonhart's "Little Red Riding Hood", "Forest Hunter", "Iron Hans", and "Iron Knight".
    • Due to "Necromancy's" Effect, Leonhart's "Hexe Trude" loses 4 × 600 = 2400 ATK ("Hexe Trude": 3000 → 600 ATK / 1800 DEF).
• Uses "Dark Magician" to Attack & Destroy Leonhart's "Hexe Trude" (Leonhart: 1900 → 0 Life Points). Yami wins.

Differences in Adaptations

• Hexe Trude's dress was made less revealing in the English version.
• Cut from the dub is a bit of two kids dueling in a park, using duel disks. One kid orders his Ruiz (Beaver Warrior) to attack, but the hologram starts to flutter with static. The other kid's Gremlin (Feral Imp) does the same, and the kid says something's wrong.
• Cut also is a shot of Rebecca saying that Yami's Deck will be halved every round.
