The Final Duel - Part 2, known as Defeat the Three Phantom Gods! in the Japanese version, is the 222nd episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime. It aired on September 15, 2004 in Japan and on May 27, 2006 in English.

Atem has Summoned all three Egyptian Gods! What chance does Yugi have against these powerful creatures that no one has been able to defeat? Yugi better think of a strategy quickly or this Duel will be over soon!

Summary

The three Egyptian Gods tower over Yugi.

Atem now controls all three Egyptian Gods: "Slifer the Sky Dragon" with 2000 ATK, "The Winged Dragon of Ra" with 5000, and "Obelisk the Tormentor" with 2500. Yugi, on 1400 Life Points, stares up in awe, thinking that his other self is serious (in the dub, he thinks that Atem just Summoned the most powerful cards in the game). Everyone else watches in awe as Atem activates the Magic Card "Pot of Greed", drawing two cards, which raises the ATK of "Slifer" to 3000. Mokuba gasps that the other Yugi is great, and Kaiba is shocked that he Summoned all three Gods (in the dub, Mokuba believes there's no way Yugi is going to get out of this and Kaiba agrees that Yugi is in over his head). Solomon has never imagined seeing such a sight (in the dub, he declares that Dueling the Pharaoh is the ultimate test of Yugi's skill). Marik calls it incredible, and Ishizu declares that the Pharaoh's power is beyond their imagination (in the dub she states that he's stronger than ever since regaining his memories). Téa gasps that this is Atem's true power (in the dub, she asks Joey what Yugi is going to do, but Joey doesn't know). Joey notes that even though Yugi's Trap weakened "Obelisk", it still has 2500 ATK, and Mokuba reminds them about the effect of "Slifer" to inflict 2000 damage to Yugi's monsters. Marik adds that if the Pharaoh activates the effects of "The Winged Dragon of Ra" to absorb most of his Life Points and the ATK of his other Gods, he can raise its ATK to 14499.

Kaiba turns to leave.

Kaiba declares Atem's tactics navigated his Super Heavy Deck and Summon the three God Cards, and the Duel will be one for the history books, but the result is clear (in the dub, Kaiba is more cutting, stating that this isn't brain surgery and it's obvious that only one of the Yugis inherited the Dueling skills, so why should they watch? Yugi's secret is out - he can't Duel his way out of a paper bag, so he got Atem to Duel for him). Kaiba turns to walk away, but Joey tells him the Duel isn't over until it's over, and Téa agrees (in the dub, Tristan say that Joey's right, so how about showing a little respect? Kaiba stops, but doesn't turn around, pointing out that none of them have ever used a God card, so they know nothing, much to Joey's anger (in the dub, Kaiba asks if they honestly believe that Yugi can still win and Joey confirms they do). Then Kaiba asks how Joey would defeat all three Egyptian God cards, and Joey hesitates, prompting Kaiba to tell Joey that he doesn't know because doing so is impossible (in the dub, Kaiba tells Joey that he's as clueless as Yugi). Joey insists there has to be an answer, asking Marik what "Ra's" weakness is, and Marik admits Yugi would have a chance against "Ra" alone, but not all three (in the dub, Joey instead asks Marik if the Gods in general have weaknesses, and Marik admits they do, but they're practically indestructible together).

Ishizu points out this may be destiny's will, that the Pharaoh's may be too strong after three thousand years, and the Battle Ritual can't succeed if no-one defeats him (in the dub, Ishizu states that only fate will decide the outcome of this ritual. If Yugi is unable to defeat his alter ego, then the two are not yet ready to separate from one another. If this occurs, the Pharaoh will be trapped here for another five thousand years). Téa whispers Ishizu's name and turns away, troubled, wondering if this means the Duel is over and Atem won't pass onto the afterlife (in the dub, she protests this isn't fair, then muses she wants the Pharaoh to stay, but not if it means trapping him against his will). Kaiba tells Mokuba to come on, and they both start to leave, Joey yelling his name (in the dub, he tells him to go if he wants). Kaiba stops to say that if the Pharaoh does end up sticking around for a few more years, there is a bright side: the two of them can finally have their rematch, and by the looks of the Duel, he's not going anywhere. Atem doesn't respond, and Kaiba wonders to himself if he can beat the Egyptian Gods as they all snarl (in the dub, Atem tells Kaiba the result remains to be seen, and Kaiba laughs as he continues to leave).

Yugi insists he plans to win the Duel.

But Yugi tells Kaiba to wait, asking him to stay and watch to the end, and Joey gasps Yugi's name. Kaiba replies that he doesn't have time to watch Yugi lose, but Yugi tells Kaiba he's wrong. (In the dub, Yugi asks Kaiba what's the rush, as he thought Kaiba would love the chance to watch him lose. Kaiba claims he only wants to see Yugi get crushed if he's doing the crushing, and Yugi tells Kaiba owes it to the Pharaoh to stay.) He remembers Atem giving the Millennium Puzzle to Priest Seto and passing on the kingship to him, telling Kaiba that he and Atem have a bond that goes back thousands of years - and Kaiba should be here to see him return to the afterlife.

Everyone gasps in shock, and Kaiba turns back to Yugi, insisting he can't be serious. Yugi states that Kaiba's words have made him realize he has to defeat the Egyptian Gods and he will win this Duel. Kaiba gasps "What?" and Joey and Téa whisper Yugi's name. (In the dub, Yugi insists he's more serious than he's ever been in his life; the Egyptian Gods may be strong, but they're not undefeatable, and Yugi's going to take them down, one by one. Kaiba thinks Yugi's nuts). Yugi turns back to Atem, declaring that's why he's here (in the dub, he simply declares that he has a Duel to win). Atem tells Yugi that's the spirit (in the dub, Atem tells Yugi he's proud of him and congratulates him) but Kaiba isn't impressed, asking Yugi if he really has a strategy for defeating all three Egyptian God cards. Yugi nods, and Kaiba smiles, agreeing to stay until the end if Yugi is so determined (in the dub, Kaiba admits that he's got to see this, but when Yugi fails miserably, Kaiba will step in and show him what real Dueling's all about).

Yugi sees himself walking behind Atem.

Atem asks if Yugi's ready, and Yugi nods and declares his turn. His hand trembles as the three Egyptian Gods stare him down and he prepares to draw his next card. Duke wonders what's wrong with Yugi, and Tristan begins to cheer for him, but Marik stops him, explaining that Yugi is focusing on fighting himself, and only someone who has battled a God knows how daunting and terrifying that is. Joey agrees, remembering being attacked by Egyptian God Phoenix during his Duel with Yami Marik, and admitting he can't put the terror he felt then into words. (The spectators' exchange is cut from the dub). Yugi thinks that he has to win, and he knew Atem would Summon the three Gods, but he's still so afraid he feels like running away, even though he's been running after his other self (in the dub, Yugi thinks this won't be easy, but he needs to defeat all three Egyptian God cards. It's the only way for him to pass this test and free the Pharaoh by proving he's ready to be on his own). He pictures himself on a narrow stone bridge, walking behind Atem, thinking that he believed he was coming closer to his other self (in the dub, Yugi thinks that ever since their spirits joined together, he's always let Atem take the lead during their Duels). He sees himself falling to his knees, covering his face to protect it from the harsh wind, the Pharaoh disappearing in to the mists ahead of him as Yugi laments that he's still so far away (in the dub, Yugi thinks that every obstacle they faced together pushed him to try harder, and he always knew that some day, he'd be good enough to walk by Atem's side. He just hopes that day's today).

Yugi realizes the truth about his and Atem's Decks.

Atem warns his partner that a Duelist who can't trust his Deck during crucial moments can never defeat him, much to Yugi's surprise, and states that that if Yugi is a true Duelist and friend, he should have been thinking about ways to defeat Atem all the while standing with him as his partner. Yugi gasps, and Téa is surprised by the notion that Yugi should have thought of ways to beat the other Yugi? Atem claims it's what a true Duelist would do: as they built their Decks, they both thought about how to beat the other. (In the dub, their conversation is significantly different. Atem states that he can see the uncertainty in Yugi's eyes. If Yugi expects to win this duel, first he must overcome his self-doubt. Yugi looks surprised, as the Pharaoh says he believes this is why fate brought them together, so that Yugi could learn to trust in himself, and be the Duelist he truly is inside, and so that Atem could learn from Yugi. Téa says that what Atem is saying makes a lot of sense. Atem states he wouldn't be who he is without Yugi, and he thought about everything Yugi taught him when he was building his Deck.) Yugi confirms he spent the entire time he built his Deck thinking about Atem, how he mustered the courage to face countless obstacles, and Atem confirms he did as well, stating that his kindness is his strength, as Yugi would rather be hurt than hurt others, remembering how Yugi stopped him from killing Kaiba during their Duel atop Pegasus Castle. (In the dub, Yugi states that's exactly what he did when he built his Deck. Atem taught him about bravery and having self-confidence, even when all hope seemed lost, and Yugi thought about that with every card he picked. Atem states that Yugi taught him about friendship and having compassion for others, remembering the Duel with Kaiba and stating that Yugi taught him that there are some things more important than winning, like the safety of a friend.) Each of them has given the other a gift, like bravery, Yugi states, and Atem adds, like kindness, sympathy, and heart. Yugi realizes that even though they've separated, they've each maintained the other's strengths, and those strengths are represented in their Decks, so they're pretty evenly matched (in the dub, Yugi states that this is the strongest Deck he's built, because he wanted to send Atem to the afterlife). Atem agrees and Yugi silently thanks his other self, as he's no longer afraid. His Deck is charged with the things he learned from his other self: to never stop fighting, and have faith in your Deck and trust your monsters. This is the pride and honor of a Duelist. (In the dub, thinks that that was just the pep talk he needed. Part of him was worried that the sides of the Duel were uneven. But now he realizes that even though the Pharaoh has all three Egyptian God cards, Yugi has everything he needs to stop them, and that's exactly what he's going to do.)

Yugi absorbs the effect of "Slifer" into his Life Points.

Yugi tells his other self that he's coming, and Atem tells him to bring it on. Declaring his turn, Yugi draws, and Téa, Joey, and Grandpa urge him on. Yugi's "Silent Swordsman" advances to LV4, with 3000 ATK, a number that Tristan cheers and Bakura adds is enough to beat "Obelisk". Next, Yugi sacrifices his three "Magnet Warrior"s, "Alpha, "Beta", and "Gamma" from his hand to Special Summon "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" in Attack Position. Atem reminds Yugi that the effect of "Slifer" activates when Yugi Summons a monster, and "Slifer" unleashes a "Lightning Blast" from its second mouth. As the "Lightning Blast" strikes, Yugi tells "Valkyrion" to hold on (in the dub, he states that he has a back-up plan) and activates the Quick-Play Magic Card "Mirage Spell", coating "Valkyrion" in a reflective layer. "Valkyrion" throws off the "Lightning Blast" and Yugi begins absorbing it into his Duel Disk, explaining that "Mirage Spell" is activated when one of his monsters is targeted, negating the effect of "Slifer" and increasing Yugi's Life Points by the 2000 ATK "Valkyrion" would have lost. His Life Points rise to 3400, and Atem grits his teeth as Joey and Tristan cheer, and Mokuba gasps that Yugi was able to stop "Lightning Blast", while Kaiba is impressed that Yugi used the effect of "Slifer" to restore his Life Points, but believes those Life Points to be nothing against a God (in the dub, Mokuba tells Kaiba he's got to admit that was pretty awesome, and Kaiba admits it may have been a decent move, but it's going to take a lot more than that to defeat the three Egyptian Gods). Yugi then Sets two cards to end his turn.

Bakura wonders why Yugi didn't attack "Obelisk", and Joey claims Yugi couldn't have attacked had he wanted (in the dub, Joey suggests Yugi didn't want to take the risk). Marik agrees that a careless attack on an Egyptian God could easily backfire, but Joey's more bothered by why Yugi left all his monsters on the field in Attack Position, as he can't survive successive attacks from the three Gods (in the dub, Joey notes it's not like Yugi to leave himself wide open to an attack). Kaiba tells Yugi if he has a strategy, let's see him use it, while Atem wonders if Yugi is trying to lure him to attack, as "Silent Swordsman LV4" and "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" are powerful monsters against a normal opponent, but they're no match for the Egyptian Gods.

He declares his turn and draws, (in the dub, Atem believes there's only one way to find out). With four cards in his hand, "Slifer" rises to 4000 ATK, and Atem orders "Slifer" to attack "Silent Swordsman". Yugi activates a Trap Card, but Atem reminds him that Traps don't work against "Slifer". Everyone gasps and Kaiba declares that the hammer of God will come crashing down (in the dub, Tristan cries that it's just too strong and Kaiba agrees, as he's been saying that all along). "Slifer" attacks with "Thunder Force", destroying "Silent Swordsman" with the pillar of lightning and reducing Yugi's Life Points to 2400. Mokuba is shocked by the impact, and Kaiba warns him it's not over, as the other Gods can still attack (in the dub, Mokuba gasps that it's not looking good, and Kaiba calls out to Yugi that this would be a good time for that strategy). Atem orders "The Winged Dragon of Ra" to attack "Valkyrion", and "Ra" builds up its fire and blasts it at "Valkyrion", destroying it as everyone shields themselves from the shockwave and Yugi calls out its name (in the dub, he comments that there goes monster number two) as his Life Points fall to 900. Marik says Yugi's out of monsters now, and Duke points out that the Pharaoh can still attack with the last Egyptian God. Joey worries that Yugi will lose after an attack from "Obelisk" and Téa whispers Yugi's name (in the dub, she urges Yugi to come on). Mokuba turns to Kaiba, asking if it's done, and Kaiba states that this was the best Yugi could have done (in the dub, he asks if Mokuba is really surprised). Atem tells Yugi that this will be his final attack (in the dub, he tells Yugi that he knows he tried his best, and for that, he's forever thankful. But now the time has come for him to end this Duel). He orders "Obelisk" to wipe out Yugi's Life Points with his "Fist of Fate", and as Yugi braces himself for the God's attack, Téa and Solomon cry Yugi's name (in the dub, Téa gasps "Oh no!").

The reappearance of "Valkyrion" stops "Obelisk" from attacking.

But suddenly, "Valkyrion" appears on the field, and "Obelisk" stops its attack. Atem gasps "What?" (in the dub, he asks how, protesting this doesn't make any sense). Then "Silent Swordsman" appears beside "Valkyrion". Atem asks why those monsters are on the field, and realizes it was Yugi's Trap (in the dub, Atem protests that he already sent those monsters to the Graveyard and asks how Yugi brought them back; Yugi has to remind Atem about his Trap). Yugi confirms that it was as his Life Points return to 3400. Joey gasps the Trap's name, "Mirage Ruler", and Téa cheers that Yugi's Life Points came back (in the dub, Joey makes this observation and Téa cheers that she knew he had something up his sleeve). Yugi explains that "Mirage Ruler" activates whenever all of the monsters on his side of the field are destroyed during Atem's Battle Phase, bringing back his monsters and restoring his Life Points to what they were before his opponent's turn began, then paying 1000 Life Points, falling to 2400. Atem is impressed, and Kaiba notes that now "Obelisk" can't attack, as now Yugi has Trapped his own field, and the ATK of "Obelisk" remains at 2500, lower than either of Yugi's monsters (Kaiba's observation is shortened in the dub, and he notes that Yugi has saved himself for now). Atem ends his turn, and Yugi sighs with relief, as does Tristan, who comments that was too close for comfort. Joey turns to Solomon and asks him if he's hanging in there, and Solomon is proud of Yugi, but his ticker can't take much more of this. Joey grins and comments that he might not survive until the end, though Solomon insists he'll never see another Duel like this and can't die until it's over. He thinks that Yugi is stronger than ever and must fight hard to have with no regrets. (In the dub, Joey instead points out he's seen Solomon Duel, and he's stronger than any of them. Solomon agrees he keeps himself in pretty good shape; who do they think the King of Games inherited his strength from? He thinks that he's never been more proud of Yugi than he is today.)

Téa is shocked when she sighs in relief at Yugi's survival.

Even Téa breathes a sigh of relief, then startled at her own reaction, she wonders when she started rooting for Yugi. Mokuba tells Kaiba that it looks like Yugi's holding his own against the Egyptian gods. Kaiba points out that all Yugi did was stall for a little more time, and he can't win unless he figures out the weakness of each Egyptian God card. Mokuba asks what their weaknesses are, and Kaiba says even the Gods have, or rather had a weakness - that they require three sacrifices to be Summoned, but Atem has already cleared this hurdle, and now they have no weaknesses. He wonders what Yugi will do, as even Kaiba couldn't find the weaknesses of the Gods, and Yugi will have to if he wants to defeat them. He urges Yugi to Duel beyond his expectations. (In the dub, Kaiba states that he knows these weaknesses exist - the first major weakness is that they require three sacrifices to Summon them, but since they're already on the field, that weakness was eliminated. Now it's up to Yugi to do the impossible - find the fatal flaws of the most powerful monsters in the game. Kaiba thinks there's no way Yugi can win this Duel, and he's not even the true King of Games. All this time, someone else has been Dueling for him while he took the credit.)

Marik and Ishizu discuss Yugi's strength.

Ishizu believes Yugi will turn things around with his next move. Marik asks if she's seen the future, but Ishizu smiles and states she hasn't had a vision of the future in years, it's just a strong hunch. Marik asks if she thinks Yugi has a chance against the Egyptian Gods, and Ishizu admits she isn't sure, but watching Yugi reminds her of the nameless Pharaoh's soul. The Pharaoh has strength beyond their imagination, but the vessel of the Pharaoh's soul must be equally strong. Yugi may have been small at first, but after carrying the Pharaoh's soul for so long, he's become strong. Marik is surprised she means Yugi, and Ishizu states that a person's vessel grows by overcoming challenges, which can be opportunities or miracles. Marik wonders if a miracle will happen for Yugi. (In the dub, Ishizu explains something occurred to her that she hadn't thought about before. Fate may have chosen Yugi as the vessel for the Pharaoh's spirit not because he needed the Pharaoh's help, but because Yugi himself is the modern-day version of the Pharaoh, equal in every way. The two were brought together because they represent opposite sides of the same soul. Marik starts to protest, but Ishizu finishes for him: they're so different from each other, because Yugi is shy and the Pharaoh is assertive and confident? The truth is, they each have a quality the other needed, so they learnt from one another. Marik asks if she's saying they're complete now, and Ishizu states they'll soon find out if their journey together is truly over. Then fate will allow Yugi to defeat all three Egyptian god cards and win the Duel.)

Yugi deduces Atem's Set card - "Mirror Force".

Yugi thinks that he managed to evade the Gods' attacks, but he'll have no chance if Atem attacks with the Gods on his next turn (in the dub Yugi's statement begins later. He thinks that if he expects to win this, he needs to start thinking like the Pharaoh. He needs to figure out what the Pharaoh's face-down card is). He stares at the Set card on Atem's side of the field, which has been there since before he activated "Turn Jump", but Atem hasn't activated it yet. Then Yugi realizes that he hasn't attacked since the Pharaoh Set that card. He bets the Pharaoh's planning to use it to make one of Yugi's attacks backfire, so it must be "Mirror Force". His odds are slim, but there's a combo in his Deck that can defeat the Egyptian Gods, but with no cards in his hand, everything rides on his next draw - not just his own fate, but Atem's too (in the dub, Yugi tells the heart of the cards it knows the deal: to guide him).

"Magnet Force" redirects the effect of "Slifer the Sky Dragon" back at the Egyptian Gods.

Yugi declares his turn and draws, telling his other self that he's coming, and Atem tells his partner to bring it on (in the dub, Yugi declares that he has a plan, and Atem tells him that's good). Joey asks if Yugi's going to attack (in the dub, he hopes Yugi's not going to attack). First, "Silent Swordsman" increases to LV5, with 3500 ATK. Then Yugi activates the effect of "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior", sacrificing it to revive "Alpha", "Beta", and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior". Kaiba thinks Yugi's lost it, believing that dismantling one of his most powerful monsters just to summon three weaker monsters is self-destruction against the Gods. "Valkyrion" rises into the air and disappears from the field, and three glowing lights emerge from the point of distortion, forming into "Alpha", "Beta", and "Gamma". Atem states that since Yugi Summons monsters, the effect of "Slifer" activates, and as "Slifer" roars, Joey wonders what Yugi is thinking: now every one of his monsters with 2000 or less ATK will be destroyed. Atem orders the "Lightning Blast" effect of "Slifer", but as "Slifer" blasts the blue lightning balls from its second mouth, Yugi activates his Trap Card, "Magnet Force". The air distorts in front of the three "Magnet Warrior", blocking the "Lightning Blasts", and Atem gasps "What!?" as Yugi explains that "Magnet Force" activates whenever one of his Rock or Machine-Type monsters is targeted by the effect of another card, allowing Yugi to switch the effect's target to his opponent's monsters. Kaiba gasps that Yugi Trapped his own field this time, and as the three "Lightning Blasts" are reflected away, Joey gasps that it will strike the Gods (in the dub, Kaiba gasps that Yugi's turning the Egyptian Gods against themselves and Joey wonders if this move is really going to work). "Slifer's" reflected "Lightning Blasts" hit "Slifer", "Ra", and "Obelisk", reducing their ATK to 2000, 3000, and 500 respectively. Solomon gasps that Yugi weakened them by 2000 points and Joey adds that now Yugi's monsters can destroy the Egyptian God cards (in the dub, Joey correctly specifies that "Silent Swordsman" will be able to destroy any of the Gods).

"Mirror Force" blocks Yugi's attack.

Yugi orders "Silent Swordsman" to attack "Obelisk the Tormentor" with "Silent Sword Strike", but Atem tells him it wasn't good enough, and he activates his Trap Card, "Mirror Force", and Kaiba gasps "No way!" as a glowing energy barrier erupts between "Silent Swordsman" and "Obelisk". "Silent Swordsman's" strike is blocked, then he's flung back by the shockwaves and destroyed, as are all three of the "Magnet Warriors", leaving Yugi with nothing on the field but "Magnet Force" (in the dub, Atem tells Yugi that it's over). Joey and Tristan gasp that all of Yugi's monsters are gone, and Solomon cries Yugi's name, while Marik comments that his sister's hunch failed. Ishizu closes her mouth resolutely, and Kaiba comments that Atem's game tactics were superior to Yugi's, snarling that Yugi has wasted his time (in the dub, Marik admits Yugi came closer than he thought possible, but Kaiba states that close doesn't count and Yugi's the same loser he always was). Atem tells Yugi it was a valiant effort, if only Yugi had predicted his face-down card. But Yugi smiles and claims he did - as soon as "Mirror Force" was activated, Yugi was able to complete the combo he needed.

He tells Atem it's time he eliminated the Egyptian God cards, and Atem gasps "What?" (in the dub he asks how) and everyone gasps in shock, watching the Duel breathlessly.

Featured Duel: Yugi Muto vs. Atem

Duel continues from previous episode.

Yugi has 1400 Life Points and controls "Silent Swordsman LV3" (4000/1000) in Attack Position.

Atem has 4000 Life Points and controls "Slifer the Sky Dragon" (2000/2000), "Obelisk the Tormentor" (2500/4000), and "The Winged Dragon of Ra" (5000/4000) in Attack Position and "Mirror Force" Set in his Magic & Trap Zone.

Turn 7: Atem
Atem has just Tribute Summoned "The Winged Dragon of Ra". Due to the effect of "Ra", its ATK and DEF are equal to the sum of the respective ATK/DEF of the monsters Tributed to Summon it ("The Winged Dragon of Ra": ???? → 5000/???? → 4000). Atem activates the Magic Card "Pot of Greed", drawing two cards. Due to the effect of "Slifer the Sky Dragon", it gains 1000 ATK and DEF for each card in Atem's hand ("Slifer the Sky Dragon": 2000 → 1000 → 3000/2000 → 1000 → 3000). During Atem's End Phase, the effect of "Ambush Shield" expires ("[Silent Swordsman LV3": 4000 → 2500/1000).

Turn 8: Yugi
Yugi's hand contains "Beta The Magnet Warrior". During Yugi's Standby Phase, the effect of "Silent Swordsman LV3" activates, increasing its ATK by 500 and its LV by 1 ("Silent Swordsman LV3" → "Silent Swordsman LV4": 2500 → 3000/1000). Yugi Tributes "Alpha The Magnet Warrior", "Beta The Magnet Warrior" and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" from his hand to Special Summon "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" (3500/3850) in Attack Position. As Yugi Summoned a monster in Attack Position, the effect of "Slifer the Sky Dragon" activates, reducing the ATK of the Summoned monster by 2000, but as the ATK and/or DEF of a monster Yugi control would be changed by Atem's card effect, Yugi activates his Quick-Play Magic Card "Mirage Spell", gaining Life Points equal to the ATK and/or DEF that would have been changed instead (Yugi: 1400 → 3400 LP). Yugi Sets two cards.

Turn 9: Atem
("Slifer the Sky Dragon": 3000 → 4000/3000 → 4000). "Slifer the Sky Dragon" attacks "Silent Swordsman LV4", but as Atem's monster declared an attack, Yugi activates his face-down Continuous Trap Card "Mirage Ruler". When all monsters on Yugi's side of the field are destroyed during Atem's Battle Phase, Yugi can Tribute "Mirage Ruler" to return all monsters he controlled that were destroyed during the turn's Battle Phase and his Life Points to the state they were in before the Battle Phase, then pay 1000 Life Points. The attack continues and "Slifer" destroys "Silent Swordsman LV4" (Yugi: 3400 → 2400 LP). "The Winged Dragon of Ra" attacks and destroys "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" (Yugi: 2400 → 900 LP). "Obelisk the Tormentor" attacks Yugi directly, but Yugi activates the effect of "Mirage Ruler", Tributing it to return "Silent Swordsman LV4" (3500/1000) and "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior" (3500/3850) to the field in Attack Position and his Life Points to the state they were before the Battle Phase, then pay 1000 Life Points (Yugi: 900 → 3400 → 2400 LP). A replay occurs and Atem chooses not to attack with "Obelisk the Tormentor".

Turn 10: Yugi
During Yugi's Standby Phase, the effect of "Silent Swordsman LV4" activates ("Silent Swordsman LV4" → "Silent Swordsman LV5": 3000 → 3500/1000). Yugi activates the effect of "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior", Tributing it to Special Summon "Alpha The Magnet Warrior" (1400/1700), "Beta The Magnet Warrior" (1700/1600) and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" (1500/1800) from his Graveyard in Attack Position. As Yugi Summoned a monster, the effect of "Slifer the Sky Dragon" activates, but Yugi activates his face-down Trap Card "Magnet Force", allowing him to switch the target of an effect targeting any of his face-up Rock and/or Machine-Type monsters to an appropriate monster Atem controls until the End Phase. He chooses to target "Obelisk", "Slifer" and "Ra" ("Obelisk the Tormentor": 2500 → 500/4000, "Slifer the Sky Dragon": 4000 → 2000/4000, "The Winged Dragon of Ra": 5000 → 3000/4000). "Silent Swordsman LV5" attacks "Obelisk the Tormentor", but as Yugi's monster declared an attack, Atem activates his face-down Trap Card "Mirror Force", destroying all Attack Position monsters Yugi controls. "Silent Swordsman LV5", "Alpha", "Beta" and "Gamma" are destroyed.

Duel continues next episode.
