"Pendulum Summons!", titled "Pendulum Summon!" (ペンデュラム召喚! Pendyuramu Shōkan!) in the Japanese version, is the third chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V manga.

This chapter was first printed in Japanese in the December 2015 issue of V Jump, released on October 21, 2015, and in English in the October 26, 2015 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump.

"Phantom" finally reveals his true form in front of the Leo Corporation agents, shocking everyone with his unique Summoning method and tricks.

Summary

In Maiami City, the Leo Corporation task force has Yuto cornered and trapped in an Action Duel. Yuto's opponent, Shingo Sawatari, has put him on the backfoot by removing his Dark Rebellion XYZ Dragon from the field, destroying his protection, and reducing his LP to 200. But inside, a voice tells him that he will finish the Duel in his place. In a grand flash of light, Yuto disappears, and Yuya Sakaki, the true Phantom, appears.

Yuya thanks his audience for their patience, as now the greatest Entertainment Duelist in the world has arrived. Everyone watching the Duel, including Reiji Akaba from the Leo Corporation tower, Shun and Sora of the task force, and Yuzu Hiiragi watching from outside the Duel dome, is shocked to witness Phantom's transformation into his true identity. And now, Yuya declares, the fun begins.

Shingo thinks back to what President Akaba told the task force during their briefing on Phantom. The Solid Vision system that runs all throughout Maiami City creates amazing Duel fields for entertainment, but its ability to apply mass to holograms makes it invaluable in times of crisis or disaster. But Phantom, he told them, only uses the Solid Vision system for himself. His motives for doing so were unknown, and so they were tasked with bringing him in. But Akaba warned them not to be careless, as the Pendulum Summons he uses are a considerable threat. Sora had asked what a Pendulum Summon is, but Akaba couldn't tell, due to not possessing the cards. Though, he told them he had another station conducting research on the Pendulum Summon.

Back to the Duel in progress, Shingo decides that it doesn't matter how powerful these "Pendulum Summons" are, they still can't beat him now. Yuya takes his turn. The fourth and final Action Card for this field reveals itself high above the two players. Shingo already knows that the card is Haunted Legend Pair Card 2, a twin to the Haunted Legend Pair Card 1 that Phantom already has in his hand. He needs both to activate the card, and both cards increase a monster's ATK by 200. But seeing how high in the air it is, he decides that neither player will be able to get it. But Yuya isn't deterred.

Yuya calls for all eyes on him. Seemingly from nowhere, he draws a giant party popper, which pops open to reveal a stream of confetti... and a trained pigeon, which flies into the air and retrieves the Action Card for Yuya. Yuzu is delighted by her future employee's entertaining style of Dueling, and calls out if she can have his autograph. Yuya is ready to oblige, but a voice in his head - Yuto's - tells him they have other things to worry about, so Yuya calls out that he'll sign after. Yuzu agrees, but tells him not to lose, as the future of her family's school is on the line. Yuya is confused, and Yuzu tells him to never mind her and continue.

Shingo doesn't care that Phantom found the other Action Card, and tells him to bring it on. Yuya obliges, and with a flick of his coat, he disappears in a puff of smoke, only to reappear suddenly behind Shingo. Shingo, not a fun of these slippery tricks, activates his Set Reawakening of the Emperor, which allows him to activate the effect of his Emperor again. Yuto points out that he can use his Underworld Emperor Erebus' effect to return a card in Yuya's hand to the Deck, and Yuya responds by using Yuto's Phantom Knights Tomb Shield in the Graveyard, banishing it to negate Reawakening's activation.

Finally, with the stage set, Yuya declares that it's showtime. Into his Pendulum Zones, he sets the Scale 1 Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon and the Scale 8 Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon. With his Pendulum Scale set from 1 to 8, he can conduct a Pendulum Summon to Summon monsters from his hand between Level 2 and Level 7 at the same time. Yuya Pendulum Summons Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon. The arena cracks and crumbles from the force of the Summon, stunning everyone watching. Shun is shocked, Sora is delighted, Reiji is satisfied that Yuya's identity is confirmed, and Yuzu is estatic from all the money she's sure to make from this stranger with the mysterious dragon.

Phandom Dragon's 2500 ATK still doesn't match up to Erebus' 2800, so Shingo still says Yuya is outclassed. But Yuya reminds him of his Action Cards. Now that he has both Pair Cards, he activates both of them to increase his monster's ATK by 200 points each, to 2900. Yuya tells Phandom Dragon to attack with Phantom Spiral Flame, and Shingo's LP fall to 1400. Shingo hangs on, as he's still got LP left, but Yuya warns him that that won't last long. He activates Phantom Dragon's effect: as it destroyed a monster during the turn it was Pendulum Summoned, Yuya inflicts damage to Shingo equal to the total ATK of the Pendulum Monsters in his Pendulum Zone. Both monsters have 1200 ATK, so Shingo takes 2400 damage by the power of his Odd-Eyes dragons' Atomic Force. Shingo is blown away as his LP fall to 0.

As the Duel dome begins to disappear, Reiji orders his task force to apprehend Phantom, whatever the cost. Shun and Sora leap in, and Sora tells Shingo that he talks big for a loser. In short order, Yuya is surrounded by police in riot gear, but unfazed, he only asks if they enjoyed his style of entertainment. Without waiting for an answer, he declares that the fun is over, and disappears once again in a puff of smoke, only leaving a strange card behind. Shun realizes that the card is a Phantom card, and that Yuya Sakaki wasn't actually there. Everyone begins to look around, as Yuya couldn't have left the dome in the middle of the Duel, and Sora spots him on a nearby building - the same building that Yuzu herself is on, in fact. He knew they would try to catch him like that after the Duel, so he was prepared.

Sora realizes that when Yuya disappeared earlier, he used the smoke as a distraction to place his Phantom card, while he actually conducted the Duel from the nearby building where the dome extended. As Yuya makes good on his promise and signs an autograph for Yuzu, Sora marvels at how interesting this Entertainment Duelist is, despite being the enemy. Continuing to make use of the Solid Vision system for himself, Yuya conjures a paper airplane from another card and bids everyone farewell, as he takes off into the night sky over the ocean.

In the air, Yuya thinks to himself that his plane seems to be flying a bit heavier than usual. Yuto tells him to look behind him, and Yuya sees that he has a passenger: Yuzu had decided in the spur of the moment to hitch a ride. Yuya points out that the airplane is only made to seat a single passenger. It's silent for a moment as Yuzu processes what that means, before they both start yelling as the paper airplane begins to fall, crashing into the ocean. Later, Yuzu wakes up on a couch in a strange place, where a massive computer dominates the room. She is soon joined by Yuya, who commends her on the stunt she pulled, and welcomes her to his hideout.

Featured Duel: Yuya Sakaki vs. Shingo Sawatari

Duel continues from the previous Scale.

Turn 4: Yuya
Yuya gets an Action Card. Shingo activates his face-down "Reawakening of the Emperor" in an attempt to use the effect of his "Underworld Emperor Erebus" again, but Yuya activates the effect of "Phantom Knights Tomb Shield" in his Graveyard, banishing it to negate the activation of Shingo's Trap Card. Yuya activates "Odd-Eyes Persona Dragon" (PS: 1) and "Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon" (PS: 8) in his Pendulum Zones. Yuya Pendulum Summons "Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon" (2500/2000). He then activates the Action Cards, "Haunted Legend Pair Card 1" and "Haunted Legend Pair Card 2", increasing the ATK of "Phantom Dragon" by a total of 400 ("Odd-Eyes Phantom Dragon": ATK 2500 → 2900). "Phantom Dragon" attacks and destroys "Erebus" (Shingo 1500 → 1400), and its effect activates; since it inflicted battle damage the turn it was Pendulum Summoned, "Phantom Dragon" inflicts damage to Shingo equal to the combined ATK of "Mirage Dragon" and "Persona Dragon" in his Pendulum Zones (Shingo 1400 → 0).
