"God Phoenix vs Thunder Dragon" (神不死鳥ゴッドフェニックスVSバーサス雷竜サンダー・ドラゴン Goddo Fenikkusu Bāsasu Sandā Doragon) is the sixth chapter of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Structures manga. It was first published November 21, 2019, in the V Jump magazine.

Shoma continues his Duel against Psychic Tendo, ready to do battle with a Deck built for the World Championships.

Summary

Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Psychic Tendo

Both players have 8000 LP. Tendo controls "Some Summer Summoner" (1600|↙ ↘) in the Extra Monster Zone and "Thunder Dragon Colossus" (L8|2600/2400) in Attack Position, in the center Main Monster Zone that "Some Summer Summoner" points to. Shoma controls "Super Quantum Red Layer" (L5|2000/800), "Evocator Eveque" (L4|1500/1000), and "God Phoenix Gearfried" (L9|3000/2200), all in Attack Position. It is Shoma's turn.

Turn 2: Shoma Yusa
Shoma has just Special Summoned "God Phoenix Gearfried" by its first effect. Tendo's "Maxx "C"" is still in effect, so Tendo draws a card immediately after its Special Summon.

Shoma attacks "Some Summer Summoner" with "Super Quantum Red Layer". In response to the attack declaration, Tendo activates the Quick Effect of "Some Summer Summoner" to discard a card and Special Summon a Thunder monster from his Graveyard to a zone it points to. Tendo discards "Thunder Dragon Fusion" to Special Summon "Thunder Dragonroar" (L6|2400/0) in Defense Position to the other zone "Some Summer Summoner" points to. The attack continues, and "Some Summer Summoner" is destroyed (Tendo: 8000 → 7600 LP).

Shoma attacks "Thunder Dragonroar" with "God Phoenix Gearfried". In response to his own attack declaration, Shoma activates the effect of "Flame Noble Knight Roland" in his hand, equipping it to "God Phoenix Gearfried" as an Equip Spell that increases its ATK by 500 ("God Phoenix Gearfried": 3000 → 3500 ATK). At that start of the Damage Step, Shoma activates the second effect of "God Phoenix Gearfried" to equip "Thunder Dragon Colossus" to it as another Equip Spell that increases its ATK by 500 ("God Phoenix Gearfried": 3500 → 4000 ATK). The attack continues, and "Thunder Dragonroar" is destroyed.

As it was sent from the field to the Graveyard, Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragonroar" to Special Summon a "Thunder Dragon" monster from his Deck in Defense Position; however, Shoma activates the third effect of "God Phoenix Gearfried", sending the "Flame Noble Knight Roland" equipped to it to the Graveyard ("God Phoenix Gearfried": 4000 → 3500 ATK) to negate the activation of Tendo's monster's effect. Shoma attacks Tendo directly with "Evocator Eveque" (Tendo: 7600 → 6100 LP).

During the End Phase, as it was sent to the Graveyard this turn, Shoma activates the effect of "Flame Noble Knight Roland" in his Graveyard to add a FIRE Warrior monster or an Equip Spell from his Deck to his hand. He chooses to add a second "God Phoenix Gearfried". Also during the End Phase, Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragondark" in his hand, discarding it to add a third "Thunder Dragondark" from his Deck to his hand.

Turn 3: Psychic Tendo
Note: Tendo's full turn is not depicted during the chapter itself; however, a page from the end of the chapter describes the full turn in detail.

Tendo activates "Allure of Darkness", allowing him to draw 2 cards, but he must then banish a DARK monster from his hand, or else send his entire hand to the Graveyard. He draws, then banishes "Thunder Dragondark" from his hand. As it was banished, Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragondark" to add a "Thunder Dragon" monster from his Deck to his hand; however, Shoma once again activates the third effect of "God Phoenix Gearfried", sending the "Thunder Dragon Colossus" equipped to it to the Graveyard ("God Phoenix Gearfried": 3500 → 3000 ATK) to negate the effect's activation.

Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragon Fusion" in his Graveyard, banishing it to add a Thunder monster from his Deck to his hand. He chooses to add a second "Thunder Dragonroar". He then activates a second "Thunder Dragon Fusion" from his hand. By shuffling "Thunder Dragon Colossus" and the two copies of "Thunder Dragondark" (3 "Thunder Dragon" monsters) from his Graveyard into his Deck, Tendo Fusion Summons "Thunder Dragon Titan" (L10|3200/3200) into the Extra Monster Zone.

Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragonroar" in his hand, discarding it to add another "Thunder Dragon" monster from his Graveyard to his hand. Since a Thunder monster's effect was activated in the hand, Tendo also chains the effect of "Thunder Dragon Titan" to destroy a card on the field. Tendo destroys Shoma's "God Phoenix Gearfried" with the effect of "Thunder Dragon Titan", then adds "Thunder Dragonhawk" from his Graveyard to his hand.

He then activates the effect of "Thunder Dragonhawk" in his hand, discarding it to Special Summon another "Thunder Dragon" monster from his Graveyard. He chains the effect of "Thunder Dragon Titan" again, destroying Shoma's "Super Quantum Red Layer", then Special Summons "Thunder Dragonroar" from his Graveyard in Attack Position. Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragon" in his hand, discarding it to add two additional copies of "Thunder Dragon" from his Deck to his hand. He chains the effect of "Thunder Dragon" again, destroying Shoma's "Evocator Eveque", then adds the two copies of "Thunder Dragon" to his hand.

Tendo Normal Summons "Thunder Dragonmatrix" (L1|0/2000). He sets "Thunder Dragon Titan" and "Thunder Dragonmatrix" (2 Thunder monsters) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon a second "Some Summoner Summoner" to the Extra Monster Zone. As it was sent from the field to the Graveyard, Tendo activates the effect of "Thunder Dragonmatrix" to add a second "Thunder Dragonmatrix" from his Deck to his hand.

Tendo activates "Instant Fusion", paying 1000 LP (Tendo: 6100 → 5100 LP) to Fusion Summon "Kaminari Attack" to a zone that "Some Summer Summoner" points to. Tendo banishes "Thunder Dragonmatrix" in his hand and "Kaminari Attack" on his field to Special Summon a second "Thunder Dragon Titan" from his Extra Deck by its own procedure, to a zone "Some Summer Summoner" points to. As a Thunder monster activated its effect in the hand this turn, Tendo Tributes "Thunder Dragonroar" to Special Summon "Thunder Dragon Colossus" from his Extra Deck by its own procedure, to the other zone that "Some Summer Summoner" points to. He then banishes "Thunder Dragon" in his hand and "Thunder Dragon Colossus" on his field to Special Summon a third "Thunder Dragon Titan" from his Extra Deck to the other zone that "Some Summer Summoner" points to.

Tendo attacks Shoma directly with "Some Summer Summoner" and his two "Thunder Dragon Titans" (Shoma: 8000 → 6400 → 3200 → 0).
