A rule change is coming to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game, and Des, friendly local part-timer, has offered to give a demonstration to the younger Duelists. Shoma Yusa had better learn quickly though, because this instructor is giving out a harsh lesson in the New Master Rule.

At the Satellite Shop, a big announcement has been made: the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game is set to undergo a set of rule revisions, to much shock. To help ease the transition, guest instructor Des, who in fact works at this very shop, announces that she will be hosting an Exhibition Duel for the younger Duelists to show off the changes, and asks for any volunteers. Many among the crowd whisper hesitantly among themselves, as Des has a reputation for not holding back against anyone, even children. Even Jukyu Goriki says that he'd rather focus on reading through the changes first, while Tsukiko Kuroda admits that she forgot to bring a Deck with her today. However, Des receives a very eager volunteer in the form of Yami Kuroda, who offers her a black rose and a place by his side as his "bride of darkness", to his sister Tsukiko's embarassment. Des, being nearly twice the teenager's age, is put off by the young boy's "advances", but seeing as how she doesn't have any other volunteers lined up...
At that moment, another hand in the crowd shoots up to volunteer. Kuroda turns in rage to see Shoma Yusa, socially nervous but always ready to Duel, and demands to know why he would dare disrupt his courting. Shoma, nervous as ever, stands silent, and Jukyu advises Kuroda to give up, as Shoma would never pass on an oppurtunity like this. Meanwhile, Des thinks back to the recent Adult's Night event, where she had the chance to Duel Shoma's older sister, Ageha Yusa, after the event ended. They had played many Duels long into the night, and in all of their Duels, Des had only won a single one. And if it were a choice between Kuroda and the younger brother of the legendary "Traptrix" Ageha, the choice was clear.
The choice made, and Kuroda's heart broken by Des (who doesn't date teenagers, sorry), the Exhibition Duel between Des and Shoma Yusa begins. Des begins with "Adamancipator Laputite", using its effect to set up the top five cards of her "Adamancipator" Deck. She then digs deep with her excavation strategy, pulling cards from the top of her Deck to swarm the field. In no time at all, she's gathered four monsters on her field - 2 Tuners and 2 non-Tuners. She uses one pair of them to Synchro Summon "Adamancipator Risen - Leonite" into the Extra Monster Zone. Up to this point, she explains to Shoma, she's been playing in a way they would with the old rules; however, now she's going to play by the new rules. She then uses her other pair of monsters to Synchro Summon "Adamancipator Risen - Dragite"... into the Main Monster Zone.
Jukyu protests that there aren't any Link Monsters on the field to point to that zone, and Des explains that he is right about that; however, with the new rules, it isn't a problem - Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Monsters can be freely Special Summoned to the Main Monster Zones, whether a Link Monster points to it or not. Jukyu notes to himself that the simplification of the rules certainly benefits him, while Kuroda wants only to express his appreciation to Des. Tsukiko is not amused by his "disgusting" ramblings. Shoma is excited by these new rules, and to see the results of this new evolution of Dueling. With that, Des ends her turn.
Shoma begins his turn by activating "Galloping Gaia", with Kuroda noting that he's changed his Deck again. Des recognizes the card, and knows that Shoma can use it to replenish his hand every turn. She can't let him do that, and so uses the effect of her Synchro Monster to negate and destroy it. Undeterred, and trusting that his Deck's combination of Warriors and Dragons will give him a monster worthy of the "Gaia Knight" legacy, Shoma continues his turn, using his "Artillery Catapult Turtle" as a launch point to gather "Gaia the Magical Knight" and "Curse of Dragon, the Cursed Dragon" on his field. And with "Spiral Fusion", Shoma fuses the two halves of his Deck together to Fusion Summon "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons". Tsukiko notes that he's learned fast and Summoned it into his Main Monster Zone.
Using the combined power of his card's, Shoma uses his monster's Spiral Double Magical Strike to pierce through Des' field, destroying both of her Synchro Monsters and inflicting major damage to her LP. Des compliments Shoma's performance, showing that ten years of learning from one of the best has really paid off. However, she has also been Dueling for the last ten years, and her pride will not allow her to lose in this Exhibition Duel.
Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Anna DesEdit
Turn 1: Des
Des activates the Field Spell "Adamancipator Laputite". All Rock she controls will gain 500 ATK/DEF. She then activates its effect to take five "Adamancipator" cards from her Deck and place them on top of her Deck in any order. She chooses "Adamancipator Crystal - Leonite", "Adamancipator Crystal - Raptite", "Adamancipator Laputite", "Adamancipator Analyzer", and "Adamancipator Seeker".
Des Normal Summons "Adamancipator Analyzer" (L4|1500 → 2000/700 → 1200). She activates its effect to excavate the top five cards of her Deck, Special Summon one Level 4 or lower Rock non-Tuner monster among the excavated cards, and return the rest to the bottom of her Deck. She excavates and Special Summons "Adamancipator Crystal - Leonite" (L4|0 → 500/2200 → 2700) in Defense Position. Since it was Special Summoned by the effect of an "Adamancipator" card, Des activates the effect of "Adamancipator Crystal - Leonite" to place the "Adamancipator Crystal - Dragite" in her hand on top of her Deck. Since she controls an "Adamancipator" monster, she activates the effect of "Adamancipator Seeker" in her hand, Special Summoning it (L4|1200 → 1700/1000 → 1500) in Defense Position. She activates its effect to excavate another five cards, Special Summon one Level 4 or lower Rock non-Tuner monster among them, and return the remaining cards to the bottom of her Deck. She excavates and Special Summons "Adamancipator Crystal - Dragite" (L4|0 → 500/2200 → 2700) in Defense Position. Since it was Special Summoned by the effect of an "Adamancipator" card, Des activates its effect to draw a card.
Des tunes the Level 4 "Adamancipator Crystal - Leonite" to the Level 2 Tuner "Adamancipator Seeker" to Synchro Summon "Adamancipator Risen - Leonite" (L6|2400 → 2900/2200 → 2700) in Attack Position in the right-hand Extra Monster Zone. She activates its effect to excavate the top five cards of her Deck, add one "Adamancipator" card among them to her hand, and return the rest to the bottom of her Deck. She excavates and adds "Adamancipator Signs". Des then tunes the Level 4 "Adamancipator Crystal - Dragite" to the Level 4 Tuner "Adamancipator Analyzer" to Synchro Summon "Adamancipator Risen - Dragite" (L8|3000 → 3500/2200 → 2700) in the bottom-right Main Monster Zone adjacent to "Adamancipator Risen - Leonite".
Turn 2: Shoma
Shoma activates the Field Spell "Galloping Gaia"; however, Des activates the Quick Effect of "Adamancipator Risen - Dragite" to negate the activation of and destroy Shoma's Spell Card, since she has a WATER monster in her Graveyard. Shoma Normal Summons "Artillery Catapult Turtle" (L4|1000/2000). He then activates its effect to Tribute one monster and Special Summon a "Gaia the Fierce Knight" monster or Level 5 Dragon monster from his hand or Deck. He Tributes "Artillery Catapult Turtle" and Special Summons "Gaia the Magical Knight" (L7|2300/2100) from his Deck in Attack Position. Since it was Normal or Special Summoned, he activates the effect of "Gaia the Magical Knight" to Special Summon a Level 5 Dragon monster from his hand or Graveyard. He Special Summons "Curse of Dragon, the Cursed Dragon" (L5|2000/1500) from his hand in Attack Position. Since it was Normal or Special Summoned, Shoma activates the effect of "Curse of Dragon, the Cursed Dragon" to add a Spell/Trap Card from his Deck to his hand, that specifically lists "Gaia the Dragon Champion" in its card text. He chooses "Spiral Fusion".
Shoma activates "Spiral Fusion", using "Gaia the Magical Knight" and "Curse of Dragon, the Cursed Dragon" as Fusion Material to Fusion Summon "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons" (L7|2600/2100), whose name becomes "Gaia the Dragon Champion" while on the field, in Attack Position to the Main Monster Zone. Since "Gaia the Dragon Champion" was the Summoned card, "Spiral Fusion" increases its ATK by 2600 ("Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons": 2600 → 5200 ATK) and allows it to attack twice during each Battle Phase. Since it was sent to the Graveyard, Shoma activates the effect of "Curse of Dragon, the Cursed Dragon" in his Graveyard by targeting his "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons", negating the effects of all monsters his opponent controls with ATK less than that target's. Des activates the Quick Effect of "Adamancipator Risen - Leonite" in chain to Special Summon a Rock monster from her Graveyard, as she has a FIRE monster in her Graveyard. The chain resolves, and Des Special Summons "Adamancipator Analyzer" from her Graveyard in Defense Position, then has the effects of all her monsters negated.
Shoma attacks and destroys "Adamancipator Risen - Leonite" with "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons" (Des: 8000 → 5700 LP). Since it destroyed a monster by battle, Shoma activates the effect of "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons" to increase its ATK by 2600 ("Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons": 5200 → 7800 ATK). Shoma attacks and destroys "Adamancipator Risen - Dragite" with "Gaia the Magical Knight of Dragons" (Des: 5700 → 1400 LP).
