"A Duel You Cannot Lose" (
After a shocking finish in the first round, the Team Battle continues. However, if Team Structures wants to win it all, Shoma must once again face Saiko Tendo, the one Duel King he has never defeated.
Summary
On the Duel platform, head judge Ageha Yusa declares Tsukiko Kuroda to be the winner of the first Duel of the final round in the ongoing Team Battle. Tsukiko pants heavily from the force of energy she put into her decisive win, while her opponent Des can only look on at her in apprehension. Ageha commends Tsukiko for her amazing comeback - as expected from one of the Four Duel Kings - but wonders if she'll be alright after this. Indeed, Tsukiko's eyes are now bright red, her hair is standing up on its own, and her mood is darker than its ever been. Leaving her Duel Disk with her teammate Saiko Tendo (who wonders what Des could have done to set her off), Tsukiko declares simply that she's leaving. Des, ever the picture of grace in defeat, starts to cry and demand a rematch; however, even she balks against the young Duelist. Kuroda, fearing his sister's wrath, hastily thanks her for her hard work, as "Light" Tsukiko leaves the Satellite Shop.
Moving along, Ageha declares the start of the second Duel. Representing Team Structures next is Shoma Yusa, cheered on by the now-sulking Des. Jukyu Goriki silently worries to himself, as now both he and Shoma have to win their Duels if they want to win the tournament. Shoma steps up to the stage, but freezes as his opponent from Team Light and Darkness, the Two Sides of a Same Coin stands to join him - "Psychic" Tendo, who calls to Shoma to not to disappoint him like he did last time. This worries Jukyu further, as not only is Tendo the only member of the Four Duel Kings that Shoma hasn't defeated, but now he personally has to Duel Kuroda next. Kuroda warns Tendo to not take Shoma lightly, but Tendo has a simple Duel philosophy - "Victory at All Costs". Ageha silently wishes her younger brother luck as the Duel begins.
Tendo takes the first turn, and immediately activates "Cursed Eldland", then paying 800 LP to add "Eldlich the Golden Lord" to his hand. Even faster than that, he Sets three cards in his Spell/Trap Zones and ends his turn. On the sidelines, some kids whisper among themselves on how weird a Deck Tendo is playing if he didn't Summon a single monster. Ageha finds it amusing that they haven't seen an "Eldlich" Deck in action yet. Shoma begins his turn and, himself knowing how Tendo's Deck works, begins working out how to counter Tendo's strategies. Des calls out encouragement to Shoma, reminding him that a defeat here will spell doom for Team Structures - as well as for her chances of getting those Stainless Steel prize cards. Shoma balks at the reminder of the stakes, and realizes that this is a Duel he cannot lose.
Nervously, Shoma draws for his turn, but as soon as he does so, Tendo activates "Eldlixir of White Destiny" to Summon "Eldlich the Golden Lord" from his hand. The crowd cheers from the gleam and shine of the zombie king's golden armor, while Tendo berates Shoma for his shaking hands. Steady and confident, Tendo sarcastically welcomes Shoma to Tournament play - a world where victory and defeat really does matter. Shoma now feels the pressure of carrying his team, but compared to what he felt going to the Qualifiers months ago, this tournament is nothing to him. Pushing forward despite his apprehension, Shoma continues his turn with his "Virtual World" Deck. However, just as he's about to use the effect of "Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan" to further his field advantage, Tendo activates his Set "Huaquero of the Golden Land", banishing Shoma's "Nyannyan" and putting "Huaquero" on his field as a monster. Tendo plays to win, and won't let Shoma get ahead without a fight.
Shoma continues, and soon he has "Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen" on his field, whose effect will banish any cards sent to the Graveyard, which will hurt Tendo's Deck significantly. He then launches an attack with his monster and activates its effect to return his banished "Nyannyan" to his Graveyard, intending to recover the lost effect that Tendo stole. However, Tendo responds with "Golden Land Forever", which negates his monster's effect and destroys it outright. This rocks Shoma to his core - he watched Tendo bring that card out of his Deck last turn, and watched him Set it face-down. He knew it was there and what it did, and despite knowing he needed to play around it, he walked right into it. Tendo thanks Shoma for the saving him from his own monster.
Shoma enters his Main Phase 2. Des notes that with the contents of his hand, he still has ways to get monsters on his field to protect him. Shoma, however, Sets two cards face-down before ending his turn. Always believing the best in herself in any situation, Des wonders what's happened to Shoma, as he's been making one mistake after another today. Jukyu says nothing, but is displeased with the burden on his friend's shoulders thanks to a certain someone. Ageha, watching her brother flounder, knows her brother is a savant in the ways of Dueling, but he's only ever had her to Duel against until he moved to Tokyo, and certainly never in a tournament setting where this much is on the line. But still, she cheers her brother on - he'll overcome this trial and come out on the other side a better Duelist for it.
But for now, it's Tendo's turn again.
Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Psychic Tendo
Turn 1: Psychic Tendo
Tendo activates the Continuous Spell "Cursed Eldland" and subsequently activates its effect, paying 800 LP to add 1 "Eldlich" card or "Golden Land" Spell/Trap from his Deck to his hand. He adds "Eldlich the Golden Lord". He then activates "Foolish Burial Goods", allowing him to send 1 Spell/Trap from his Deck to the Graveyard. He sends "Eldlixir of Black Awakening". Tendo activates the effect of "Eldlixir of Black Awakening" in his Graveyard, banishing it to Set a "Golden Land" Spell/Trap directly from his Deck. He Sets "Golden Land Forever!" in his Spell & Trap Zone, followed by two more cards.
Turn 2: Shoma Yusa
Tendo activates his Set "Eldlixir of White Destiny", allowing him to Special Summon a Zombie monster from his hand or Graveyard; however, since he controls no "Eldlich" monsters, the monster he Summons must be an "Eldlich" monster. Tendo Special Summons "Eldlich the Golden Lord" (L10|2500/2800) in Defense Position.
Since he controls no monsters, Shoma Normal Summons "Virtual World Oto-Hime - Toutou" (L6|1200/1800) without Tributes. He then activates the Continuous Spell "Virutal World Gate - Qinglong". Shoma activates the effect of "Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu" in his hand by targeting his "Virtual World Gate - Qinglong". By sending a card with a different card type (Monster, Spell, Trap) than that card from his Deck to the Graveyard, he can Special Summon it from his hand, then add a "Virtual World" card of the third remaining type from his Deck to his hand. He sends "Virutal World Hime - Nyannyan" (a Monster) to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu" (L3|1600/600) in Defense Position, then adds "Virtual World Gate - Chuche" (a Trap) to his hand.
Since a Level 3 monster was Special Summoned to his field, Shoma activates the effect of "Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan" in his Graveyard to Special Summon it and treat it as a Tuner monster; however, Tendo activates his Set "Huaquero of the Golden Land". The latter Special Summons itself as a Normal Monster to Tendo's field (L5|1800/1500) in Defense Position, then, since Tendo controls "Eldlich the Golden Lord", Tendo can banish a card from either Graveyard. He chooses "Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan".
Shoma tunes the Level 6 "Virtual World Oto-Hime - Toutou" to the Level 3 Tuner "Virtual World Mai-Hime - Lulu" to Synchro Summon "Virutal World Kyubi - Shenshen" (L9|2800/2400) in Attack Position. Shoma attacks "Huaquero of the Golden Land" with "Virtual World Kyubi - Shenshen". Since his monster has declared an attack, Shoma activates his monster's effect to return any 1 banished monster to its owner's Graveyard. He intends to use this effect on his banished "Virtual World Hime - Nyannyan"; however, Tendo activates his Set "Golden Land Forever!". Since he controls "Eldlich the Golden Lord", he Tributes "Huaquero of the Golden World" to negate the activation of Shoma's monster's effect and destroy it. Shoma Sets two cards in his Spell & Trap Zone.
