Summary

Kuroda keeps pushing against Shoma, using his "Drytron" Deck that carries his and his sister's feelings. Can Shoma and his "Ursarctic" Deck top the Duel King of Darkness?

Featured Duel: Shoma Yusa vs Yami Kuroda

Duel continues from the previous chapter.

Turn 2: Kuroda
Shoma activates the effect of "Ursarctic Megabilis" in his hand, with the effect of "Ursarctic Big Dipper" allowing him to banish a Level 7 or higher "Ursarctic" monster from his GY instead of Tributing a monster from his hand; Shoma banishes "Ursarctic Miktanus" from his GY to Special Summon "Ursarctic Megabilis" from his hand. Since Shoma Special Summoned a single monster from his hand, the effect of "Pinpoint Landing" activates; upon its Special Summon, the effect of "Megabilis" activates as well, becoming Chain Link 2. The effect of "Megabilis" resolves, allowing Shoma to banish "Cyber Angel Benten" from Kuroda's GY. Next, the effect of "Pinpoint Landing" resolves, allowing him to draw 1 card. Finally, since a monster was Special Summoned, "Ursarctic Big Dipper" gains 1 counter ("Big Dipper" counters: 2 → 3). Shoma activates his face-down "Ursarctic Quint Charge", and pays 700 LP (Shoma's LP: 8000 → 7300) to activate its effect; he Tributes "Ursarctic Megabilis" and "Ursarctic Polari" to Special Summon "Ursarctic Grand Chariot" from his Extra Deck in Attack Position. Upon its Summon, the effect of "Grand Chariot" activates, allowing Shoma to destroy Kuroda's "Drytron Alpha Thuban" and "Drytron Delta Altais". Furthermore, since a monster was Special Summoned, "Ursarctic Big Dipper" gains 1 counter ("Big Dipper" counters: 3 → 4). At this point, Kuroda's hand contains "Meteonis Drytron", "Drytron Beta Rastaban", "Drytron Nova", "Drytron Alpha Thuban", "Diviner of the Herald" and a 2nd "Drytron Beta Rastaban".

Kuroda Normal Summons "Diviner of the Herald" and activates its effect, sending "Herald of the Arc Light" from his Extra Deck to the GY and increasing its own Level by the sent monster's Level ("Diviner of the Herald": Level 2 → 6). Since "Herald of the Arc Light" was sent to the GY, its effect activates, allowing Kuroda to add the Ritual Monster "Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids" from his Deck to his hand. Kuroda activates "Meteonis Drytron", Tributing "Drytron Alpha Thuban" and "Drytron Beta Rastaban" in his hand to Ritual Summon "Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids" from his hand in Attack Position. Since a monster was Special Summoned, "Ursarctic Big Dipper" gains 1 counter ("Big Dipper" counters: 4 → 5). Kuroda means to destroys Shoma's "Big Dipper" with the effect of "Quadrantids". However, upon its successful Ritual Summon, Shoma activates the effect of "Ursarctic Megatanus" in his hand, banishing "Ursarctic Departure" from his GY instead of Tributing a monster. "Ursarctic Megatanus" is Special Summoned, and its effect activates, changing "Quadrantids" to face-down Defense Position - thus, its effect fails. "Ursarctic Big Dipper" gains 1 counter ("Big Dipper" counters: 5 → 6). While Kuroda's "Quadrantids" cannot be targeted by the effect of "Big Dipper" to gain control of a monster, it is noted that, since Shoma flipped it face-down, its effects are null, meaning it can now be affected by "Big Dipper". Kuroda activates "Drytron Nova", Special Summoning "Drytron Gamma Eltanin" from his Deck in Attack Position. "Ursarctic Big Dipper" gains 1 counter ("Big Dipper" counters: 6 → 7). Since "Big Dipper" reached 7 counters, Shoma activates its effect, removing all counters to take control of Kuroda's face-down "Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids".

At this point, some steps are skipped. Kuroda now controls "Linkuriboh", "Diviner of the Herald", "Drytron Meteonis Draconids" and "Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir", all in Attack Position. Furthermore, Shoma's "Ursarctic Big Dipper" now has 5 counters. Kuroda enters his Battle Phase. "Diviner of the Herald" attacks Shoma's "Linkuriboh", but Shoma activates the latter's effect, Tribuing itself to change the ATK of "Diviner" to 0. "Drytron Meteonis Draconids" can attack all of Shoma's Special Summoned monsters; it attacks and destroys "Ursarctic Megatanus" and "Ursarctic Grand Chariot" (Shoma's LP: 7300 → 4400). Since his "Ursarctic" Synchro Monster was destroyed by an opponent's attack, Shoma activates the 2nd effect of "Ursarctic Quint Charge", forcing Kuroda to shuffle cards into the Deck so the total number of cards in his field, hand, and GY is 7. Kuroda opts to keep "Drytron Gamma Eltanin", "Drytron Alpha Thuban", "Herald of the Arc Light" and "Meteonis Drytron" in his GY, as well as "Linkuriboh", "Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir" and "Drytron Meteonis Draconids" on his field, and shuffles the remaining 5 cards from his GY and "Diviner" from his field into the Deck.

Turn 3: Shoma
Shoma changes his face-down "Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids" to face-up Attack Position. Kuroda activates the effect of his "Drytron Meteonis Draconids", banishing "Drytron Gamma Eltanin" and "Drytron Alpha Thuban" from his GY to send Shoma's "Quadrantids" and "Ursarctic Big Dipper" to the GY.

Duel continues in the next chapter.
