Emma and Skye are trying to figure out who Playmaker is, and one of their leads is Shima, who claims to be Playmaker's friend. When Ghost Gal finds The Brave Battler, Shima's avatar, in LINK VRAINS, she challenges him to a Duel.

Featured Duel: Ghost Gal vs. The Brave BattlerEdit

The Duel is conducted as a Master Duel.

Turn 1: Ghost Gal
Ghost Gal Normal Summons "Altergeist Silquitous" (800/1500) and Sets two cards.

Turn 2: The Brave Battler
The Brave Battler's hand contains two copies of "Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest", two copies of "Scrap Kong", "Double Summon", and "Yellow Baboon, Archer of the Forest". The Brave Battler Normal Summons "Scrap Kong" (2000/1000). As "Scrap Kong" was Normal Summoned, its effect activates, destroying itself. As a Beast monster The Brave Battler controls was destroyed and sent to the GY, The Brave Battler activates the effect of "Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest" in his hand, paying 1000 LP to Special Summon it (2600/1800) (The Brave Battler: 4000 → 3000 LP). The Brave Battler activates the Spell Card "Double Summon", allowing him to Normal Summon an additional time this turn. The Brave Battler Normal Summons another "Scrap Kong", whose effect activates, destroying itself. As the Beast "Scrap Kong" was destroyed, The Brave Battler activates the effect of another "Green Baboon" in his hand, paying 1000 LP to Special Summon it (2600/1800) (The Brave Battler: 3000 → 2000 LP). The Brave Battler sets both copies of "Green Baboon" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Metal Baboon, Stalwart of the Forest" (2600/↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone.

"Metal Baboon" attacks "Silquitous". Ghost Gal activates her face-down Trap Card "Altergeist Camouflage", equipping it to "Silquitous". While equipped with "Camouflage", "Silquitous" cannot be attacked, but it does not prevent The Brave Battler from attacking Ghost Gal directly, and all effects that target "Silquitous" will be negated. As Ghost Gal activated a Trap Card, she activates the effect of "Altergeist Multifaker" in her hand, Special Summoning it (1200/800). As "Multifaker" was Special Summoned, Ghost Gal activates its effect, Special Summoning an "Altergeist" monster from her Deck. She Special Summons "Altergeist Marionetter" (1600/1700). Ghost Gal activates the effect of "Silquitous", returning another "Altergeist" card she controls to her hand to return a card The Brave Battler controls to his hand. She returns her "Camouflage" to her hand to return The Brave Battler's "Metal Baboon" to his Extra Deck.

Turn 3: Ghost Gal
Ghost Gal sets "Multifaker" and "Silquitous" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Altergeist Hexstia" (1500/↓→) to the Extra Monster Zone. "Hexstia" gains ATK equal to the original ATK of each "Altergeist" monster it points to, in this case "Marionetter" ("Hexstia": 1500 → 3100 ATK). "Hexstia" attacks The Brave Battler directly (The Brave Battler: 2000 → 0 LP).

Differences in adaptionsEdit

  • In the dub, Zaizen confirms that he does not want Playmaker to be captured and that he is working against that. To this end, he orders Gore and Shepherd to wait until the portal reappears, though Shepherd disobeys him.
  • In the original version, Ghost Gal claims to The Brave Battler that she's Dueling him to test his strength. In the dub, she suggests that she is a Bounty Hunter.
  • In the original version, Ghost Gal is less cutting to The Brave Battler. In the dub she is more openly scornful.
  • In the original version, The Brave Battler convinces Ghost Gal to defeat him with one attack instead of multiple ones as it would be less embarrassing. In the dub, he asks her to only attack once since he did.
  • In the original version, when Skye goes on to perform the Blue Angel event she announced to draw The Brave Battler out, she's annoyed that she's having to continue with the farce. In the dub, she goes on to do it more remorsefully to lift Shima's spirits, after having humiliated him like they did.
  • When Zaizen calls Gore back to SOL Technologies in the dub, he clarifies that it is on Queen's orders.
