Before Yusaku Fujiki's avatar Playmaker, Kal Kolter, an ally who has been with him through thick and thin, now stands as an enemy. Having been forced to fight since his brother Jin is taken hostage by the Ignis Lightning, Kal challenges Playmaker to a Duel.

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs Kal KolterEdit

This Duel is conducted as a Master Duel.

Turn 1: Kolter
Kolter Normal Summons "Codebreaker Zero Day" (1800/0) and Sets a card.

Turn 2: Playmaker
Playmaker Normal Summons "Digitron" (1500/0). Playmaker sets his Normal Monster in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Link Spider" (1000/↓). He then activates the effect of "Link Spider", letting him Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Normal Monster from his hand to a zone it points to. He Special Summons "Bitron" (200/2000) in Defense Position. As he controls a Cyberse monster, Playmaker Special Summons "Backup Secretary" (1200/800) from his hand in Attack Position via its own effect. Playmaker sets the Cyberse "Bitron" and "Backup Secretary" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Protocol Gardna" (1000/←→). Playmaker sets his two Effect Monsters in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Decode Talker" (2300/↙↑↘).

Turn 3: Kolter
Kolter Normal Summons another copy of "Zero Day" (1800/0) and activates his face-down Continuous Trap Card, "Codebreak Backfire". Kolter sets his two "Codebreaker" monsters in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Codebreaker Virus Swordsman" (2300/↑↓) in the zone "Decode Talker" points. The effect of "Decode Talker" increases its own ATK by 500 for each monster it points to (2300 → 2800). As "Virus Swordsman" was Special Summoned and is now co-linked, Kolter activates its effect, letting him Special Summon a Level 4 or lower "Codebreaker" monster from his hand or GY to a zone that Playmaker's Link Monster points to in Defense Position. He Special Summons "Zero Day" (1800/0) from his GY in the zone "Decode Talker" points to in Playmaker's control ("Decode Talker": 2800 → 3300). The effect of "Zero Day" reverses any ATK or DEF increases/decreases to non-"Codebreaker" monsters it is linked to ("Decode Talker": 3300 → 1300). As a "Codebreaker" monster was Special Summoned to his opponent's field, the effect of "Codebreak Backfire" activates, inflicting 600 damage to Playmaker (Playmaker: 4000 → 3400). "Virus Swordsman" attacks "Decode Talker", with the effect of "Codebreak Backfire" preventing monsters from being destroyed by battle by "Codebreaker" monsters (Playmaker: 3400 → 2400). As "Virus Swordsman" battled, its effect activates at the end of the Damage Step, decreasing the ATK of a monster the opponent controls by 500 for each "Codebreaker" monster on the field then inflicting damage equal to the lost ATK. Playmaker activates the effect of "Decode Talker", letting him Tribute a monster in a zone it points to negate and destroy a card that targets a card he controls. He Tributes "Zero Day" to negate and destroy "Virus Swordsman" ("Decode Talker": 1300 → 2300). As "Virus Swordsman" is in the GY because it was destroyed and sent there from the field by the opponent's card effect this turn, its effect activates during the End Phase, letting him Special Summon it (2300/), but it will be banished when it leaves the field. As it was Special Summoned and is co-linked, Kolter activates the effect of "Virus Swordsman", Special Summoning "Zero Day" (1800/0) from his GY to a zone "Decode Talker" points to ("Decode Talker": 2300 → 1300) in Defense Position. The effect of "Codebreak Backfire" activates (Playmaker: 2400 → 1800).

Duel continues in the next episode.
