"Unwavering Instinct" is the one-hundred and first episode of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. It first aired in Japan on May 8, 2019.

Bohman set up a "Neuron Link" to use the consciousness of humans to create his Data Storm. The three Knights, Akira, and Ghost Gal put their lives on the line and succeed to destroy the Neuron Link. However, Bohman starts repairing it right afterward, leaving Playmaker in despair...

Featured Duel: Playmaker vs. Bohman

Duel continues from the previous episode.

Turn 4: Playmaker

Bohman attempts to activate his Skill, "Master Storm Access", in order to access the Neural Link once per turn and add a random Cyberse monster to his Extra Deck. However, due to the actions of the Knights of Hanoi, Akira Zaizen, and Ghost Gal, it fails. Bohman activates the effect of "Chimera Hydradrive Dragrid", removing 1 Hydradrive Counter from it ("Dragrid" "Hydradrive Counters: 1 → 0) to roll a die, then return "Dragrid" to his Extra Deck and Special Summon 1 "Draghead" monster from his Extra Deck, whose Attribute corresponds to the die roll (● 1: EARTH ● 2: WATER ● 3: FIRE ● 4: WIND ● 5: LIGHT ● 6: DARK). He rolls a 5 (LIGHT), however because he doesn't have any LIGHT "Draghead" monsters in his Extra Deck, the effect of "Dragrid" resolves without effect.

Playmaker attacks and destroys "Dragrid" with "Cyberse Clock Dragon" (Bohman: 4000 → 2500 LP).

Turn 5: Bohman

Bohman activates "Hydradrive Readvent", allowing him to target 1 monster in his GY, whose ATK is less than the ATK of the monster his opponent controls with the highest ATK, and Special Summon it, but its effects are negated, and it will be destroyed during the End Phase. He Special Summons "Dragrid" (4000/←↙↓↘→) to the Main Monster Zone. Bohman activates "Judgement Arrows" (↖↑↗) in one of his Spell & Trap Zones that "Dragrid" points to. Bohman activates his Skill, "Master Storm Access", in order to access the Neural Link once per turn and add a random Cyberse monster to his Extra Deck. Bohman sets "Dragrid" (1 or more Link Monsters) in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" (0/←↙↓↘→) to the Extra Monster Zone. Since it was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, Bohman activates the effect of "Perfectron", placing 5 "Hydradrive Counters" to it ("Perfectron" "Hydradrive Counters": 0 → 5). "Perfectron" gains 1000 ATK for every "Hydradrive Counter" on itself ("Perfectron": 0 → 5000 ATK).

Bohman attacks "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron", but Playmaker activates "Return Risk Reservoir", allowing him to Special Summon 1 Level 1 monster from his GY. He Special Summons "Protron" in Attack Position. Playmaker then activates the effect "Linkuriboh" in his GY, tributing 1 Level 1 monster he controls to Special Summon itself from the GY. He tributes "Protron". Since the monster that was Special Summoned by the effect of "Return Risk Reservoir" left the field, Playmaker draws a card. Bohman continues with his attack on "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron". Since an opponent's monster is declaring an attack, Playmaker activates the other effect of "Linkuriboh", tributing it to change the ATK of that attacking monster to 0 until the end of the turn ("Perfectron": 5000 → 0). Bohman continues with his attack on "Clock Dragon" with "Perfectron". Due to the effects of "Perfectron", Bohman takes no Battle damage from battles involving it, and if it would be destroyed, he can remove 1 Hydradrive Counter from it instead ("Perfectron" "Hydradrive Counters": 5 → 4), ("Perfectron": 5000 → 4000 ATK). Since "Perfectron" battled, Bohman activates its effect, destroying all monsters his opponent controls after Damage calculation, and then inflicting damage to his opponent equal to the number of "Hydradrive" Link Monsters in Bohman's GY x300. "Clock Dragon" is destroyed and Playmaker takes 2400 points of damage (since Bohman has 8 Link Monsters in his GY). (Playmaker: 2500 → 100 LP).

Duel continues in the next episode.

Errors

  • During the scene where the ATK of "Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon" becomes 5000 by its own effect, the section of its upper-right arm that would be connected to its right wing is missing.
