Yugi Muto is a character in Yu-Gi-Oh! The Sacred Cards and Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction. This is a video game depiction of Yugi Mutou from the manga and Yugi Muto from the anime.

Biography

Yugi took part in the Duelist Kingdom tournament. He defeated Mako Tsunami in one of the rounds and beat Maximillion Pegasus to win the tournament.

The Sacred Cards

Yugi and Joey Wheeler arrived at the player's house the day of the Battle City tournament and the three made their way to Clock Tower Square for the commencement of the tournament. Shortly before it began, Joey declared the three friends to be rivals from that point and asked them not to lose until the finals. The player challenged Yugi to a Duel, which he declined since the tournament had not begun yet.

If the player chose to tell one of the park generic Duelists Yugi's location, Yugi defeated that generic Duelist outside the game shop.

Solomon Muto notified Yugi and the player that Joey had been acting strange and came by the shop to collect Tea Gardner. Just after Yugi said that he had a bad feeling about it, a Ghoul entered the shop and said that Joey and Tea had been taken captive by the Ghouls. He asked Yugi and the player hand over their Decks and quit the tournament, if they valued their friends lives. Yugi and the player then split up to find their friends.

Mai Valentine came up with the idea that they ask Seto Kaiba to use the transponder in Joey's Duel Disk to locate him. She passed this idea on to the player and Yugi, who went with the player to the KaibaCorp headquarters to get help. However they only found Roland, who was not authorized to tell them Kaiba's location and suggested that they ask Mokuba Kaiba instead.

Yugi and the player found Mokuba at the building, where he was being kidnapped by Lumis and Umbra. After Yugi and the player defeated Lumis and Umbra, Marik Ishtar took control of Lumis' body, using the Millennium Rod, and told Yugi how he had used the Rod's brainwashing power on Joey and Tea. After this battle, Yugi had enough Locator Cards to qualify for the tournament finals.

Although Mokuba was freed, he told Yugi not to expect a thank you. Yugi informed Mokuba of their plan to get Kaiba to help locate Joey. Although Mokuba was not happy with the idea of helping Yugi, he wanted to see the Ghouls punished, so he told Yugi and the player that they could find Kaiba at the art gallery. Kaiba did not care to help Joey, but strongly disliked the Ghouls and hoped to sanction them, so he ran the scan and told Yugi and the player that Joey was at Area F, Sector 5362, which was the vicinity of the pier.

At the pier, Yugi and the player were confronted by Bandit Keith and a group of Ghouls. Yugi asked the player to Duel Keith, while he attended to the other Ghouls. After defeating them, the two then moved forward and found Joey and Tea, brainwashed by Marik. Joey demanded that Yugi face him in a Duel, where the loser would be dragged to the bottom of the ocean. And threatened to have Tea swallow a capsule of poison, should he refuse. Yugi accepted the Duel, but could not bring himself to beat his friend and was dragged into the water. However the player dived in and saved him. Joey then challenged the player to a Duel, but was defeated. Marik threatened to dispose of Joey, but Yugi was able to return Joey to his old self by reminding him of the promise he made to meet him and the player in the finals.

Yugi, the player, Joey and Tea went back to the top shop, where Yugi noted that he and the player were now qualified for the finals. He suggested that they wait for Joey to get his last Locator Card, then all go to the finals together. He refused challenges from the player, as he used the time to make adjustments to his Deck for the finals.

Yugi and his friends went to the stadium site for the finals. There he counted six finalists and wondered who the last two were. To his surprise Ryou Bakura, whom Yugi did not know was competing, arrived as the seventh and Yugi wondered if Marik would be the eighth. The finalists boarded the airship, after Odion, posing as Marik Ishtar, arrived.

The Ultimate Bingo machine matched Yugi and Bakura as the players in the first quarterfinal. Joey said that this would be a must-see Duel, but was worried it might end like before. At the beginning of the Duel, Yami Bakura took control of Bakura's body and announced that he was after Yugi's Millennium Puzzle. Yami Bakura regarded Yugi as weak and an unworthy opponent and demanded that he switch to Yami Yugi. Yami Yugi then took control of Yugi's body and proceeded to win the Duel.

Yugi began to suspect that Odion might not actually be Marik when Odion, as Marik, was matched with the player for the second quarterfinal. He explained to Joey that Millennium Item bearers can sense when others are like them on an instinctive level. He became more certain of this when Odion spoke at the beginning of the Duel. When Yugi previously spoke with Marik, he felt an overwhelming sense of evil coming from Marik, but he was not getting that feeling from Odion.
