Gecko, Adrian

Adrian Gecko is a Duelist Construct of Adrian Gecko from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series in the Virtual Dueling System. He is also the opponent that the player faced in Stage 7-1 of the GX Campaign mode in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Generation. The player has to defeat him in a Duel in order to unlock the next stage and progress Campaign mode.

Appearance

As a Duelist Construct, his appearance is based on Adrian Gecko, and the outfit is what he normally wore during the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime series. Though later in the anime series, he wears a teal cape alongside with his normal outfit, and that teal cape became a part of his normal appearance. But in this game, he is not wearing the teal cape used in later part of the anime.

Etymology

His given name "Adrian" is a form of the Latin given name Adrianus or Hadrianus. The name "Adrianus" or "Hadrianus" means "from Hadria" in Latin. The term Hadria is actually a alternate name for two Roman settlements. One is Adria, a town and comune in the Veneto region of Northern Italy while the other is Atri, a comune in the Abruzzo region of Central Italy. His surname "Gecko" comes from the Gecko, a type of lizard of the taxonomic family Gekkonidae. His name "Adrian Gecko" could be a reference to Gordon Gekko from the 1987 film Wall Street, due to his wealthy status.

In the French version, his given name is "Adien" which comes from "Adrien", the French spelling for the name "Adrian". In the Italian version, he is simply refers to as "Adrian" and his surname "Gecko" was omitted.

Rewards

There are a total of six rewards that the player can earn and received after defeating the Duel Construct in a Duel. The first two rewards are cards that come from the Duel Construct's Deck and the third reward is a recipe for their Deck. Then the fourth, fifth and sixth rewards repeated the same process of the three earlier rewards, but in a harder difficulty with a different Deck. In addition, the sixth reward will allow the player to have the Duel Construct's avatar and the ability to Duel them anytime between the two difficulty.
