Alvaro, known as Kan Nikaido in the Japanese version, is a character appearing in the Tag Force series. His japanese name is a reference to the Nikaido clan, Japanese daimyo who ruled over the Iwase District of Mutsu Province during the Sengoku period.

Alvaro seems to not think much about dueling, and believes everything is a matter of physical strength.

Tag Force 1[edit]

When the player receives Alvaro's Deck Recipe, he also gives them a "Royal Guard" card.

During the Tag Force Tournament, he teams up with Rio.

Tag Force 2-3[edit]

Alvaro partners with Joshua for the Slifer Red Tournament in Tag Duel Sundays.

Tag Force 2[edit]

Alvaro can sometimes appear in a special random event at the Red Dorm, where he will ask the player for 20,000 DP. If the player agrees, Alvaro will give him several rare cards in exchange.

Ending Scenes[edit]

Alvaro uses Insect-Type Decks focused on protecting "Petit Moth" as it evolves into more powerful stages, keeping it on the field by increasing its DEF or stopping attacks altogether. In the later installments, his Decks also include easily-summoned high-ATK Insect-Type monsters as support.

His third Deck in both the second and third games, instead of being his usual defensive "Moth" Decks, are Demise/Doom OTK Decks.
