Blue Angel and Spectre's Duel | |
Blue Angel and Specter's Duel is the fifteenth Duel of the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime, conducted between Blue Angel and Specter.
Prior events[edit]
The Tower of Hanoi was recently activated, giving Playmaker, the Gore and Blue Angel limited time to shut it down. On the way to the Tower, Blue Angel encounters Specter, who would not allow Blue Angel to pass unless she defeated him in a Master Duel.
The Duel[edit]
Turn 1: Specter
Specter Normal Summons "Sunseed Genius Loci" (0/600). Specter sets "Genius Loci" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryas" (0/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. The effect of "Dryas" prevents it from being targeted for attacks, but does not prevent Blue Angel from attacking Specter directly. Specter Sets a card.
Turn 2: Blue Angel
Blue Angel's hand contains two copies of "Trickstar Lycoris", "Trickstar Candina", "Trickstar Light Stage", "Trickstar Light Arena", and "Trickstar Treat". Blue Angel Normal Summons "Trickstar Candina" (1800/400). As "Candina" was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect, adding a "Trickstar" card from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Reincarnation". Blue Angel activates the Field Spell "Trickstar Light Stage", adding a "Trickstar" monster from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Lilybell". As "Lilybell" was added to Blue Angel's hand except by drawing it, she activates its effect, Special Summoning it (800/2000). Blue Angel activates the Field Spell "Trickstar Light Arena". Blue Angel activates the effect of "Light Arena", targeting a Set card in Specter's Spell & Trap Zone, and while "Light Arena" is in the Field Zone, that Set card cannot be activated until the End Phase, and Specter must activate it during the End Phase or else it is returned to the hand. She targets Specter's Set card. Blue Angel activates the effect "Trickstar Lycoris" in her hand, revealing it, then targeting a different "Trickstar" monster she controls to Special Summon it, then return that monster to the hand. She targets "Candina". Blue Angel activates the effect of a second copy of "Lycoris" in her hand, targeting "Candina", Special Summoning "Lycoris" (1600/1200), then returning "Candina" to her hand. The effect of the first copy of "Lycoris" resolves, and it is Special Summoned (1600/1200). Blue Angel sets two copies of "Lycoris" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Trickstar Holly Angel" (2000/↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the effect of "Light Arena", targeting a "Trickstar" monster in her GY that was used as its material and Special Summoning it. She targets and Special Summons "Lycoris" (1600/1200) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Holly Angel" points to. Each time a "Trickstar" monster is Normal or Special Summoned to a zone "Holly Angel" points to, its effect inflicts 200 damage to Specter (Specter: 4000 → 3800 LP). As Specter took damage from a "Trickstar" monster's effect, the effect of "Holly Angel" activates, increasing its ATK equal to the damage he took ("Holly Angel": 2000 → 2200 ATK).
The effect of "Lilybell" allows it to attack directly. "Lilybell" attacks Specter directly (Specter: 3800 → 3000 LP). As Specter took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryas", Special Summoning a "Sunvine" Link Monster from his Extra Deck to his zone his "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to, then gaining LP equal to the damage he took. He Special Summons "Sunvine Gardna" (600/↑) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryas" points to (Specter: 3000 → 3800 LP). As "Lilybell" inflicted battle damage to Specter, Blue Angel activates its effect, adding a "Trickstar" monster from her GY to her hand. She adds "Lycoris" to her hand. "Holly Angel" attacks "Gardna". As Blue Angel's monster declared an attack that targeted "Gardna", Specter activates its effect, targeting a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it and reducing any battle damage Specter would take from that battle by that monster's Link Rating times 800. He targets the Link-1 "Dryas", reducing the battle damage by 800. The attack continues and "Gardna" is destroyed (Specter: 3800 → 3000 LP). As "Gardna" was destroyed by battle, Specter activates its effect, ending the Battle Phase. Blue Angel activates the effect of "Lycoris" in her hand, targeting "Lilybell", Special Summoning "Lycoris" (1600/1200), then returning "Lilybell" to her hand. Blue Angel Sets a card. During the End Phase, by the effect of "Light Arena", Specter must activate his Set card or else it is returned to his hand. As Specter controls a "Sunavalon" monster, he activates his face-down Trap "Sunvine Burial", targeting a Set card in Blue Angel's Spell & Trap Zone, revealing it, and if it is a Trap, it is banished, then Specter banishes all cards from Blue Angel's hand and Deck with the same name as that banished card. He targets Blue Angel's Set card, revealing it to be the Trap "Trickstar Reincarnation", banishing it and two other copies of "Reincarnation" from Blue Angel's Deck.
Turn 3: Specter
Specter draws. Each time a card is added to Specter's hand, the effect of "Lycoris" inflicts 200 damage to him for each (Specter: 3000 → 2800 → 2600 LP). As Specter took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryas", Special Summoning "Sunvine Healer" (600/↑) from his Extra Deck to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryas" points to, then gaining LP equal to the damage he took (Specter: 2600 → 2800 LP). As "Healer" was Special Summoned, Specter activates its effect, targeting a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it and gaining LP equal to its Link Rating times 300. He targets the Link-1 "Dryas" and gains 300 LP (Specter: 2800 → 3100 LP). As Specter took damage from a "Trickstar" monster's effect, the effect of "Holly Angel" activates, increasing its ATK equal to the damage he took ("Holly Angel": 2000 → 2400 ATK). Specter sets "Dryas" and "Healer" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryades" (0/↙↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. Specter Normal Summons "Genius Loci" (0/600). Specter sets "Genius Loci" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Sunvine Thrasher" (800/↓) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Dryades" points to. As "Thrasher" was Special Summoned, Specter activates its effect, targeting a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it and increasing its ATK equal to that monster's Link Rating times 800. He targets the Link-2 "Dryades" and increases the ATK of "Thrasher" by 1600 ("Thrasher": 800 → 2400 ATK). "Thrasher" attacks "Holly Angel". At the start of the Damage Step, as "Thrasher" is battling Blue Angel's monster, Specter activates its effect, if Blue Angel's monster is destroyed by this battle and sent to the GY, Specter Special Summons it to his zone his "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to. The attack continues and both "Thrasher" and "Holly Angel" are destroyed, then Specter Special Summons "Holly Angel" (2000/↙↘) to the zone the bottom-right Link Arrow of "Dryades" points to. "Holly Angel" attacks and destroys "Lycoris" (Blue Angel: 4000 → 3600 LP). Blue Angel's hand contains "Trickstar Treat", "Lilybell" and "Candina".
Turn 4: Blue Angel
Blue Angel Normal Summons "Candina" (1800/400). As "Candina" was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect, adding a "Trickstar" card from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Trickstar Temptation". Blue Angel sets "Candina" and "Lycoris" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Trickstar Crimson Heart" (2000/↙→) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the effect of "Light Arena", targeting a "Trickstar" monster in her GY that was used as its material and Special Summoning it. She targets and Special Summons "Candina" to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Crimson Heart" points to. Each time a "Trickstar" monster is Normal or Special Summoned to a zone "Crimson Heart" points to, its effect increases Blue Angel's LP by 200 (Blue Angel: 3600 → 3800 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Crimson Heart", discarding a "Trickstar" card to make both players draw a card. She discards an unknown "Trickstar" card, and both players draw a card[Note 1]. Blue Angel activates the Quick-Play Spell "Trickstar Bouquet", targeting a "Trickstar" monster she controls and a face-up monster on the field, returning that "Trickstar" monster to the hand, then the other monster gains ATK equal to the original ATK of the returned monster, until the end of this turn. She targets "Candina" and "Dryades", returns "Candina", and increases the ATK of "Dryades" ("Dryades": 0 → 1800 ATK). As Blue Angel controls a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the Quick-Play Spell "Trickstar Temptation", targeting a monster whose current ATK is different from its original ATK and returning it to the hand. As Blue Angel activated a card or effect that targeted a Plant monster Specter controls, Specter activates the effect of "Sunvine Maiden" in his hand, Special Summoning it (0/0), then negating the activation. The activation of "Trickstar Temptation" is negated. Blue Angel Sets a card.
Turn 5: Specter
Specter sets "Maiden" and the Link-2 "Dryades" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Sunavalon Dryanome" (0/↙↓↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Specter controls a "Sunavalon" monster, he sends a card from his hand to the GY to activate the Continuous Spell "Sunvine Shrine". He sends an unknown card[Note 2]. Specter activates the effect of "Shrine", targeting a Level 4 or lower Plant Normal Monster in his GY and Special Summoning it. He targets and Special Summons the Level 1 "Genius Loci" (0/600). Specter sets "Genius Loci" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Thrasher" (800/↓) to the zone the bottom-left Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to. As "Thrasher" was Special Summoned, Specter activates its effect, targeting a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it and increasing its ATK equal to that monster's Link Rating times 800. He targets the Link-3 "Dryanome" and increases the ATK of "Thrasher" by 2400 ("Thrasher": 800 → 3200 ATK). "Thrasher" attacks "Crimson Heart". At the start of the Damage Step, as "Thrasher" is battling Blue Angel's monster, Specter activates its effect, if Blue Angel's monster is destroyed by this battle and sent to the GY, Specter Special Summons it to his zone his "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to. During damage calculation, as Blue Angel's "Trickstar" Link Monster is battling, Blue Angel activates the effect of "Light Arena", making all battle damage from that battle become 0, then gaining LP equal to the original damage. The attack continues and "Crimson Heart" is destroyed (Blue Angel: 3800 → 5000 LP), then Specter Special Summons "Crimson Heart" (2000/↙→) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to. "Holly Angel" and "Crimson Heart" attack Blue Angel directly (Blue Angel: 5000 → 3000 → 1000 LP).
Turn 6: Blue Angel
Blue Angel Normal Summons "Trickstar Nightshade" (100/0). Blue Angel sets "Nightshade" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon "Trickstar Bloom" (100/↓) to the Extra Monster Zone. As "Bloom" was Link Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect, making Specter draw a card. As "Nightshade" was sent to the GY as Link Material for the Link Summon of a "Trickstar" monster, Blue Angel activates its effect, Special Summoning it (100/0). Blue Angel sets "Bloom" and "Nightshade" in the Link Arrows to Link Summon "Trickstar Black Catbat" (2000/←→) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned a "Trickstar" monster, she activates the effect of "Light Arena", targeting a "Trickstar" monster in her GY that was used as its material and Special Summoning it. She targets and Special Summons "Nightshade" (100/0). Blue Angel sets "Nightshade" and the Link-2 "Black Catbat" to Link Summon "Trickstar Delfiendium" (2200/↙↑↘) to the Extra Monster Zone. As Blue Angel Link Summoned, she activates the Trap "Trickstar Maribold", returning a "Trickstar" card from the GY to her hand, then during her Main Phase this turn, Blue Angel can Normal Summon a "Trickstar" monster in addition to her Normal Summon/Set. She returns "Lycoris" to her hand. Blue Angel Normal Summons "Candina" (1800/400) to a zone "Delfiendium" points to. As "Candina" was Normal Summoned, Blue Angel activates its effect, adding a "Trickstar" card from her Deck to her hand. She adds "Lycoris" to her hand. Blue Angel Sets a card. "Delfiendium" attacks "Crimson Heart". As "Delfiendium" declared an attack while pointing to a "Trickstar" monster, Blue Angel activates its effect, targeting her banished "Trickstar" cards up to the number of Link Monsters Specter controls and adding them to her hand, then "Delfiendium" gains 1000 ATK for each card added until the end of this turn, but for the rest of this turn, Blue Angel cannot Set cards, nor activate the effects of "Trickstar" cards in her hand. She targets and adds three copies of "Reincarnation" to her hand ("Delfiendium": 2200 → 5200 ATK). As a monster "Dryanome" points to was targeted for an attack, Specter activates its effect, moving that monster to another Main Monster Zone to negate that attack. The attack of "Delfiendium" is negated. During the End Phase, Specter activates the effect of "Shrine", sending it to the GY, then targeting a Trap in his GY to Set it[Note 3].
Turn 7: Specter
Blue Angel activates the effect of both copies of "Lycoris" in her hand, targeting "Candina" and "Delfiendium", Special Summoning both copies of "Lycoris" in Defense Position (1600/1200 each), then returning "Candina" to her hand and "Delfiendium" to her Extra Deck. Blue Angel activates her face-down Continuous Trap "Trickstar Treat", placing a Trickstar Counter on it ("Treat": 0 → 1 Trickstar Counter). During the End Phase, if two or more Trickstar Counters are on "Treat", it is destroyed. If "Treat" is destroyed, Blue Angel takes 1000 damage for each Trickstar Counter that was on "Treat". Blue Angel activates the effect of "Treat", placing a Trickstar Counter on "Treat" and revealing a "Trickstar" Trap in her hand to Set that card to her Spell & Trap Zone, but it is destroyed during the End Phase. It can be activated this turn ("Treat": 1 → 2 Trickstar Counters). She reveals and Sets "Reincarnation", and subsequently activates it, banishing Specter's entire hand, then he draws the same number of cards. Four cards are banished and Specter draws four cards (Specter: 3100 → 2300 → 1500 LP). As Specter took battle or effect damage, he activates the effect of "Dryanome", Special Summoning a "Sunvine" Link Monster from his Extra Deck to his zone his "Sunavalon" Link Monster points to, then gaining LP equal to the damage he took. He Special Summons "Healer" (600/↑) to the zone the bottom-center Link Arrow of "Dryanome" points to (Specter: 1500 → 2300 LP). As "Healer" was Special Summoned, Specter activates its effect, targeting a "Sunavalon" Link Monster that points to it and gaining LP equal to its Link Rating times 300. He targets the Link-3 "Dryanome" and gains 900 LP (Specter: 2300 → 3200 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Treat", placing a Trickstar Counter on it ("Treat": 2 → 3 Trickstar Counters), revealing, Setting, then subsequently activating "Reincarnation", with the effects of both "Lycoris" following after (Specter: 3200 → 2400 → 1600 LP). Blue Angel activates the effect of "Treat", placing a Trickstar Counter on "Treat" ("Treat": 3 → 4 Trickstar Counters), revealing, Setting, then subsequently activating "Reincarnation", but as Specter controls a "Sunavalon" monster, he activates his face-down Trap "Sunbloom Doom", targeting a monster he controls and gaining LP equal to the total ATK of all monsters on the field with the same Type as that monster. He targets the Fairy "Holly Angel" and gains LP equal to the combined ATK of all Fairy monsters on the field ("Holly Angel", "Crimson Heart", and both copies of "Lycoris"), in this case 7200 (Specter: 1600 → 8800 LP). The effect of "Reincarnation" resolves, with the effects of both "Lycoris" following after (Specter: 8800 → 8000 → 7200 LP).
Specter activates the effect of "Sunbloom Doom" in his GY, banishing it to destroy as monsters on the field as possible with a Level less than or equal to the total number of Spells/Traps in the GYs that were activated this turn, then inflicting 500 damage to their controllers for each of their destroyed monsters[Error 1]. A total of three Trap Cards were activated and sent to the GY this turn, so Specter destroys both Level 3 "Lycoris" (Blue Angel: 1000 → 0 LP).
Aftermath[edit]
The Duel was being broadcast live, allowing Blue Angel's brother, Akira Zaizen to monitor the Duel. Upon Blue Angel's defeat, Akira rushes into Link VRAINS, where he is then captured in a prison of vines. Blue Angel is subsequently turned into data for the Tower of Hanoi.
