Burning Skull (バーニング・スカル Bāningu Sukaru) is a series of Zombie monsters used by Hunter Pace in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime. They were released in as promotional cards with Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Wheelie Breakers. Thematically, they resemble Ghost Rider.

Playing style

A "Burning Skull" Deck features a combination of swarm and burn tactics. The most obvious of combos available is the combined effects of "Skull Flame" and "Burning Skull Head" (the former can Special Summon the latter, which then inflicts damage to the opponent). This can lead up to the Special Summon of the series' trump monster, "Supersonic Skull Flame".

"Skull Conductor" works well with this Deck, as it allows you to Summon two Zombie monsters whose total ATK equals 2000 by sending it from your hand to the Graveyard.

Weaknesses

Though this series can be effective against both Stall and Beatdown, it can be halted by anti-swarm and Burn Decks that feature "Prime Material Dragon" or the anti-Special Summon "Thunder King Rai-Oh" as a key card. Also, Decks built around removing cards from play can be a problem if they remove needed cards from the Graveyard. "D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation" or "Imperial Iron Wall" can counter this, though the latter can be a problem for Summoning "Supersonic Skull Flame" during the Duel.
