- In episode 22, Akiza Izinski uses this card during her Ground Duel against Commander Koda. She adds this card from her Deck to her hand via the effect of "Violet Witch". On Akiza's next turn, she sends "Phoenixian Seed" to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon this card. "Black Garden" then halves this card's ATK and Special Summons a Rose Token to Koda's side of the field. "Rose Flame" then inflicts 500 damage to Koda. This card then attacked the newly summoned "Rose Token". The Rose Token is not destroyed, but Koda still takes Battle Damage. After damage calculation, this card was destroyed due to its first effect. This activates this card's second effect, inflicting 800 damage to Koda. On Akiza's End Phase, this card revives itself through its third effect. "Black Garden" then halves this card's ATK and Special Summons a Rose Token to Koda's side of the field. "Rose Flame" then inflicts 500 damage to Koda. Later, Koda activates the effect of "Mad Profiler" to banish this card from the field.

This card then attacks and destroys "Speed Warrior". After damage calculation, this card's first effect destroys itself. This activates this card's second effect, inflicting 800 damage to Yusei. On Akiza's End Phase, Akiza activates this card's third effect to revive it in Defense Position. On Yusei's next turn, he switches "Stardust Dragon" to Defense Position and equips it with "Prevention Star". Yusei then targets this card for the effect of "Prevention Star", preventing this card from attacking while "Prevention Star" is around. On Akiza's Standby Phase, "Black Rose Dragon" was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck via the second effect of "Synchro Back". Akiza then activates the first effect of "Black Rose Dragon" to destroy all cards on the field, but Yusei Tributes "Stardust Dragon" to negate the effect and destroy "Black Rose Dragon". This destroys "Prevention Star" and frees this card from its effects. Before Akiza could switch this card to Attack Position and use it to attack directly, Yusei activates "Cosmic Blast" to inflict the ATK of "Stardust Dragon" as damage to Akiza and win the Duel.

While the Duel was in progress, Lester was disappointed with Yusei and Akiza's Duel as the Grand Design didn't activate even though it was two Signers dueling against one another.
- In episode 99, Akiza uses this card during her Turbo Duel against Andre. She Special Summons this card via the effect of "Phoenixian Seed". This card then attacks and destroys "D.D. Unicorn Knight". Due to the effect of this card, it is destroyed after damage calculation. This activates the second effect of this card, inflicting 800 damage to Andre. On Akiza's End Phase, she activates the final effect of this card to banish "Phoenixian Seed" from her Graveyard and revive this card. On Andre's next turn, he activates "Speed Spell - Dash Pilfer" to take control of this card. Andre then Normal Summons "Unibird" and activates the effect of "Unibird" to banish itself and this card in order to revive "Thunder Unicorn".
