Q&A Rulings

  • Q: An "Altergeist Marionetter" on my field is equipped with "Altergeist Camouflage". In this situation, if "Royal Decree" is activated, which effects of "Altergeist Camouflage" are negated?
A: In this scenario, "Altergeist Camouflage" will remain equipped to "Altergeist Marionetter", but the effect that prevents the equipped monster from being targeted for attacks and the effect that negates any activated monster effects that target it are both negated. (Both effects will be reapplied if the effect of "Royal Decree" stops applying.)[1]
A: In this scenario, the effects of both "The Legendary Fisherman" and "Altergeist Camouflage" prevent your monsters from being targeted for attacks, but also do not prevent your opponent's monsters from attacking directly, so any attacks by your opponent’s monsters will be direct attacks.[2]
  • Q: An "Altergeist Silquitous" equipped with "Altergeist Camouflage" is face-up on my opponent's field. If I have an Attack Position "Cyber Dragon" on my field that is unaffected by Spell/Trap effects due to the effect of "Forbidden Lance", can it attack "Altergeist Silquitous"?
A: While "Altergeist Camouflage" is equipped to a monster and its effects are applying, even monsters that are unaffected by Trap effects, such as "Cyber Dragon" in this scenario, cannot target the equipped monster for attacks. If there are no other monsters on your opponent’s field, "Cyber Dragon" can attack your opponent directly.[3]
