Card Rulings:Assault Revival
OCG Rulings
- This card targets one "/Assault Mode" monster in your Graveyard. (If a monster was not successfully Special Summoned by the effect of "Assault Mode Activate" and sent to the Graveyard, it cannot be targeted.)[1]
- It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.[1]
- The resolution of "Destroy all monsters you control" and the resolution of "Special Summon 1 "/Assault Mode" monster from your Graveyard, ignoring its Summoning conditions" are considered to be done at the same time. (The effect "Its effect(s) is negated, and it cannot be Tributed. If it is removed from the field, remove it from play" is applied immediately.)[1]
- Applying "If it is removed from the field, remove it from play" does not make a Chain Link. (It is applied even during the Damage Step.)[1]
- When resolving the effect of "Assault Revival", if monsters on the player's field cannot be destroyed, the effect to Special Summon is not applied. Also, if "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6", which is unaffected by Spell effects, is on the player's field, destroy all monsters on the player's field other than "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6", but due to the fact that not all monster's on the player's field were destroyed, the "/Assault Mode" monster cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.[2]
- If "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" is activated by targeting an "/Assault Mode" monster that was Special Summoned by "Assault Revival", it is treated as being banished by "Assault Revival". During the End Phase, it remains banished and does not return to the field.[3]
- If a "Red Dragon Archfiend/Assault Mode" etc. Special Summoned by the effect of "Assault Revival" is destroyed and banished, because its effect that activates when it leaves the field is not negated, "Red Dragon Archfiend" etc. can be Special Summoned.[4]
- If a monster Special Summoned by the effect of "Assault Revival" becomes face-down, the effect of "Assault Revival" no longer applies the moment it becomes face-down. Therefore, it is not banished when it leaves the field, its effects are no longer negated, and it can be Tributed.[5]
TCG Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[7] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
- “Assault Revival” can only Special Summon an “/Assault Mode” monster that was properly Special Summoned in the first place, and was then sent to the Graveyard. It cannot Special Summon an “/Assault Mode” monster that was directly sent to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck.[6]
- Only effects on the field are negated by “Assault Revival”. If an “/Assault Mode” monster is Special Summoned with “Assault Revival”, and is then destroyed (and removed from play [sic] because of “Assault Revival”’s effect), its effect does activate and the appropriate Synchro Monster is Special Summoned.[6]
- You must destroy at least 1 monster you control with “Assault Revival” in order to Special Summon an “/Assault Mode” monster, as the effects are linked. You also must destroy all monsters you control, so if 1 of your monsters was not destroyed, you cannot Summon an “/Assault Mode” monster.[6]
- A monster Special Summoned with “Assault Revival” cannot activate its effects even if “Pole Position” makes it unaffected by Spell Cards.[6]
- If an “/Assault Mode” monster is Special Summoned with “Assault Revival”, and is flipped face-down, the restrictions from “Assault Revival” are wiped and you can Tribute it and (once it is face-up again) activate its effects.[6]
- This card targets the “/Assault Mode” monster in the Graveyard that you wish to Special Summon.[6]
