- If "Atlantean Marksman" is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect, and an effect like "Evolzar Dolkka" is chained to negate that WATER monster's effect, after the chain finish resolving "Atlantean Marksman"'s effect will still activate.[1]
OCG Rulings
- The "You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Atlantean" Sea Serpent-Type monster from your Deck, except "Atlantean Marksman"." effect is a Trigger Effect. Also this effect does not target.[2]
- The effect that destroys a Set card the opponent controls is a Trigger Effect. Also this effect targets.[2]
- Even if the opponent does not control any Set cards, this effect activates and starts a Chain Link.[2]
- If the Set card the opponent controls is chained, the effect of "Atlantean Marksman" is not applied.[2]
- The "If this card would be destroyed, you can destroy 1 face-up Level 3 or lower WATER monster you control instead." effect of "Armed Sea Hunter" does not start a Chain Link. Therefore, if an "Atlantean Marksman" is destroyed by the effect of "Armed Sea Hunter", the effect of that "Atlantean Marksman" will not activate.[3]
- Since the card discarded from the hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Swap Frog" is not treated as being sent to the Graveyard to activate the effect of a WATER monster, the effect of an "Atlantean Marksman" discarded from the hand to Special Summon "Swap Frog" will not activate.[4]
- The "When this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect" effect activates when this card is sent to the Graveyard as a cost to activate the effect of a WATER monster.[5][6][7][8]
- If "Abyss Soldier" activates its effect, sending an "Atlantean Marksman" from the hand to the Graveyard as a cost, after the effect of "Abyss Soldier" finishes resolving, the effect of "Atlantean Marksman" will activate.[5]
- If "Genex Undine" activates its effect, sending an "Atlantean Marksman" from the Deck to the Graveyard as a cost, after the effect of "Genex Undine" finishes resolving, the effect of "Atlantean Marksman" will activate.[6]
- If "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon" activates its effect, detaching an "Atlantean Marksman" treated as an Xyz Material, after the effect of "Number 17: Leviathan Dragon" finishes resolving, the effect of "Atlantean Marksman" will activate.[7]
- If "Atlantean Marksman" is Tributed as a cost for the "Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard." effect of "Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon", after the effect of "Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon" finishes resolving, the effect of "Atlantean Marksman" will activate. Furthermore, since the effect of "Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon" also activates upon its Special Summon, the effects of "Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon" and "Atlantean Marksman" will form a chain.[8]
