OCG Rulings
- The ATK increase is applied when the equipped monster selects a face-down monster as an attack target.[1]
- The ATK increase is only applied during Damage Calculation.[1]

These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - "Ballista of Rampart Smashing" increases the ATK at damage calculation.
- "Ballista of Rampart Smashing" only increases the ATK for damage calculation, then the increase disappears after the end of damage calculation.

- Marshmallon: When a monster equipped with “Ballista of Rampart Smashing” attacks a face-down, Defense Position “Marshmallon”, the effect of “Ballista of Rampart Smashing” that increases the ATK of the equipped monster is applied during damage calculation. After damage calculation, the effect of “Marshmallon” that inflicts damage is activated.
