Q&A Rulings

  • Q: My opponent activates the effect of "Maxx "C"" from their hand. If I chain "Called by the Grave", and target that "Maxx "C"" sent to my opponent’s Graveyard, what happens?
A: In this scenario, when resolving the effect of "Called by the Grave" that was chained to the effect of "Maxx "C"", that "Maxx "C"" is banished and the effects of "Maxx "C"" are negated until the end of the next turn. In this case, since the effect of "Maxx "C"" has been negated, your opponent does not draw any cards even if you Special Summon this turn.[1]
A: You can target a Normal Monster such as "Mekk-Knight Avram" with "Called by the Grave". The effect will be applied normally.[2]
A: When resolving the effect of "Called by the Grave", the targeted monster is banished from your opponent’s Graveyard, and monsters with that monster’s name have their effects negated for the rest of the turn. In this scenario, since "Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit" was Special Summoned by the effect of "Back to the Front" and is no longer in the Graveyard, it cannot be banished by "Called by the Grave", so no part of the effect of "Called by the Grave" can be applied.[3]
A: In this scenario, since the effects of "Beat, Bladesman Fur Hire" are negated by the effect of "Called by the Grave", the effect that you activated is negated even if that "Beat, Bladesman Fur Hire" was changed to face-down Defense Position by "Book of Moon".[4]
