Card Rulings:Chthonian Blast
OCG Rulings
- It can also be activated if a monster is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard during the Damage Step.[1]
- If a monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by the effect of a card activated as Chain Link 2 or higher, "Chthonian Blast" cannot be activated.[1]
- The application of "Destroy the 1 face-up monster on the field that has the lowest ATK (your choice, if tied)" and the application of "inflict damage to both players equal to half of that monster's ATK" are considered to be performed at the same time.[1]
- The damage inflicted by the effect of "Chthonian Blast" is equal to half the destroyed monster's ATK on the field. Therefore, if the targeted [sic] monster is a "Beast King Barbaros" that was Normal Summoned without Tributing, since the targeted [sic] "Beast King Barbaros" has 1900 ATK on the field, each player takes 950 damage.[2]

- This effect does not target.
- This card can be activated during the Damage Step if a monster is destroyed as a result of battle. However, it cannot be activated if a monster is destroyed by an effect during the Damage Step.
- You can activate 2 copies of "Chthonian Blast" when 1 of your face-up monsters is destroyed, and since it does not target, the 2nd one will resolve and destroy the monster with the lowest ATK and inflict damage, and then the 1st one will resolve and destroy the monster with the next lowest ATK and inflict damage.
- You can chain "Barrel Behind the Door" to "Chthonian Blast".
