Card Rulings:D/D Nighthowl
OCG Rulings
- "When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 "D/D" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target, but its ATK and DEF become 0. If that monster is destroyed, you take 1000 damage. If you activated this effect, you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Fiend-Type monsters." effect is a Trigger Effect. (This effect targets.)[1]
- When this effect resolves, Special Summoning the monster is considered the last thing to happen.[1]
- Applying "If that monster is destroyed, you take 1000 damage." does not start a Chain Link.[1]
- "If that monster is destroyed, you take 1000 damage." is applied if the monster is destroyed either by battle or card effect.[1]
- If the monster Special Summoned by "D/D Nighthowl" is destroyed and banished by "Bottomless Trap Hole", since it was destroyed, the "If that monster is destroyed, you take 1000 damage." is applied.[2]
- Even if you have already Special Summoned monsters other than Fiend-Type monsters, you can still activate the effect of "D/D Nighthowl" during the same turn. After that, you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of the turn, except Fiend-Type monsters.[3]
- If the monster Special Summoned by "D/D Nighthowl" is used as a Synchro Material Monster, since it was not destroyed, the "If that monster is destroyed, you take 1000 damage." is not applied.[4]
