Card Rulings:Dark Room of Nightmare
OCG Rulings
- The effect of "Dark Room of Nightmare" starts a Chain Link. (It does not target.)[1]
- It always activates when your opponent takes damage from a card effect, except "Dark Room of Nightmare". (It activates even during the Damage Step.)
- It activates not only when your opponent takes damage from a card effect you activated, but also when your opponent takes damage from a card effect they activated.[1]
- If your opponent takes damage from multiple card effects activated in the same Chain, after the Chain resolves, the effect of "Dark Room of Nightmare" activates a number of times in the same Chain equal to the number of times your opponent took damage from a card effect.[1]
- Q: If your opponent activates "Pot of Duality" while you control "Trickstar Candina", "Trickstar Light Stage" and "Dark Room of Nightmare", how do you resolve each effect?
- A: After the "Pot of Duality" that your opponent activated resolves, the effect of "Trickstar Candina" is applied and it inflicts damage to your opponent. As a result, the effect of "Trickstar Light Stage" is applied and it inflicts damage to your opponent. After that, since your opponent took damage by the effect of "Trickstar Candina" and "Trickstar Light Stage", the effect of "Dark Room of Nightmare" activates twice in the same Chain.[2]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[3] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - A cost is not damage so this card's effect does not apply against "Chain Energy", or costs for "Imperial Order", etc.
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Barrel Behind the Door: If you re-direct damage to your opponent using "Barrel Behind the Door", and you have "Dark Room of Nightmare" on the field, then "Dark Room of Nightmare" inflicts 300 more damage.
- Magical Thorn: Even though "Magical Thorn" does damage per card discarded, it deals the damage as one lump sum for effects like "Dark Room of Nightmare".
