Card Rulings:Darklord Zerato
OCG Rulings
- "If you have 4 or more DARK monsters with different names in your Graveyard, you can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 DARK monster" is not treated as a monster's effect.[1]
- You can also Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 face-down DARK monster in your Monster Zone.[1]
- The monster effect "You can send 1 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard; destroy all monsters your opponent controls" is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target. Sending 1 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard is a cost to activate this effect.)[1]
- The monster effect "Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this effect was activated this turn: Destroy this card" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. It activates only once during the End Phase of the turn that "Darklord Zerato" activated its first monster effect.)[1]
- Even if "Darklord Zerato" activated its own effect, if during the End Phase it has become face-down, the effect to destroy itself will not activate. Also, if a "Darklord Zerato" that activated its effect became face-down, even if it is flipped by the End Phase, the effect to destroy itself will not activate.[2]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Darklord Ixtab: The monster effects of "Darklord Ixtab", "Darklord Tezcatlipoca", "Darklord Mastema", and "Darklord Amdusias" are not effects that activate the targeted "Darklord" Spell/Trap Cards. The monster effects of "Darklord Ixtab" etc. resolve using the text of the targeted "Darklord" Spell/Trap Card. Therefore, the effect "destroy 1 card on the field" is applied and even if the opponent's "Darklord Zerato" affected by "Forbidden Lance" is chosen, it is destroyed normally. ("then shuffle that target into the Deck" is applied as normal.)[3]
- Predaplant Dragostapelia: If a "Darklord Zerato" with a Predator Counter on it is changed to face-down Defense Position by "Book of Moon", all Predator Counters on it are removed. Because the "Darklord Zerato" that activated its monster effect was changed to face-down Defense Position and does not have Predator Counters on it, it is not negated by the monster effect of "Predaplant Dragostapelia".[4]
- Predaplant Dragostapelia: The monster effect of "Predaplant Dragostapelia" is a Continuous Effect. When resolving the monster effect of an opponent's "Darklord Zerato" that has a Predator Counter, if the player's "Predaplant Dragostapelia" has been changed to face-down Defense Position by the effect of "Book of Moon", the effect is not negated and resolves as normal. (In this case, the face-down Defense Position "Predaplant Dragostapelia" is destroyed by the monster effect of the opponent's "Darklord Zerato".)[5]
