OCG Rulings

  • "If you have 4 or more DARK monsters with different names in your Graveyard, you can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 DARK monster" is not treated as a monster's effect.[1]
  • The monster effect "You can send 1 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard; destroy all monsters your opponent controls" is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target. Sending 1 DARK monster from your hand to the Graveyard is a cost to activate this effect.)[1]
  • The monster effect "Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this effect was activated this turn: Destroy this card" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. It activates only once during the End Phase of the turn that "Darklord Zerato" activated its first monster effect.)[1]
  • Even if "Darklord Zerato" activated its own effect, if during the End Phase it has become face-down, the effect to destroy itself will not activate. Also, if a "Darklord Zerato" that activated its effect became face-down, even if it is flipped by the End Phase, the effect to destroy itself will not activate.[2]
