OCG Rulings

  • The effect targets 1 face-up Synchro Monster in either player's Monster Zone.[1]
  • Returning the targeted Synchro Monster to the Extra Deck and Special Summoning the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard are not considered to happen at the same time.[1]
  • The process that returns the targeted Synchro Monster to the Extra Deck is always applied, but you can choose not to Special Summon the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard.[1]
  • The Synchro Material Monsters cannot be Special Summoned unless all the Synchro Material Monsters that were used for the Synchro Summon are in the Graveyard of the player that activated "De-Synchro".[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: After the Synchro Material Monsters that were sent to the Graveyard for a Synchro Summon leave the Graveyard, if they are sent to the Graveyard again, can these Synchro Materials Monsters be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by the effect of "De-Synchro"?
A: When you send Synchro Material Monsters to the Graveyard for a Synchro Summon, they are treated as being used as Synchro Material Monsters in the following cases.
● If they are sent to the Graveyard.
● If they are banished by the effect of "Macro Cosmos" instead of being sent to the Graveyard.
● If they are banished by the effect of "D.D. Crow" after being sent to the Graveyard.
After that, they are no longer treated as being used as Synchro Material Monsters in the following cases.
● If the banished Synchro Material Monsters are returned to the Graveyard.
● If they are Special Summoned to the field while they are in the Graveyard or banished.
● If they are returned to the hand or Deck while they are in the Graveyard or banished.
Therefore, after the Synchro Material Monsters that were sent to the Graveyard leave the Graveyard, if they are sent to the Graveyard again by another card effect, they cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by the effect of "De-Synchro".[2]
  • Q: After a Synchro Monster is changed to face-down Defense Position by the effect of "Book of Moon" and then flipped face-up, if you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting that face-up Synchro Monster, can you Special Summon the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard?
A: After a Synchro Summoned Synchro Monster on the field is changed to face-down Defense Position by the effect of "Book of Moon" and then flipped face-up, if you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting that Synchro Monster, it is returned to the Extra Deck, and you can Special Summon the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard.[3]
A: In this case, you can apply the process of "De-Synchro" that Special Summons the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard, so you can Special Summon "Junk Warrior" and "Junk Synchron" from your Graveyard.[4]
  • Q: If you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting a Synchro Monster that used "Eccentric Boy" as Synchro Material, can you Special Summon the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard?
A: When resolving the effect of "De-Synchro", if the targeted Synchro Monster is not returned to the Extra Deck, you cannot Special Summon the Synchro Materials from your Graveyard. Therefore, if you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting a Synchro Monster that was Special Summoned by using "Eccentric Boy", since the Synchro Monster is banished and not returned to the Extra Deck, you cannot Special Summon the monsters that were used as Synchro Material from your Graveyard.[5]
  • Q: If you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting a "Stardust Dragon" that was Special Summoned by its own effect, can you Special Summon the Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard?
A: If you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting a "Stardust Dragon" that was Special Summoned from your Graveyard by its own effect, you can return "Stardust Dragon" to the Extra Deck, but you cannot Special Summon from your Graveyard the Synchro Materials that were used to Synchro Summon "Stardust Dragon".[6]
A: If you activate "De-Synchro" by targeting a "Stardust Dragon" that was Synchro Summoned using "Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant" as Synchro Material, you can Special Summon "Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant" and the other Synchro Material Monsters from your Graveyard.[7]
