Q&A Rulings

  • Q: My "Amazoness Swords Woman" and "Amazoness Princess" are face-up in my Monster Zone, and my opponent's "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" is in the Extra Monster Zone. At the start of my Battle Phase, my opponent activates the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", targeting my "Amazoness Swords Woman". If "Compulsory Evacuation Device" is chained, and "Amazoness Swords Woman" is returned to my hand, how does the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" resolve?
A: In this scenario, if the targeted monster is not on the field when the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" resolves, the effect is not applied. (Other monsters can declare attacks normally.)[2]
After the effect resolves, if "Compulsory Evacuation Device" is activated and "Amazoness Swords Woman" leaves the field, can "Amazoness Princess" declare an attack?
A: The effect of Dinowrestler King T Wrextle that is activated at the start of the Battle Phase is one that makes it so that the targeted monster must declare an attack first during this Battle Phase, and in this scenario, if that monster leaves the field after the effect resolves, other monsters cannot attack.[3]
  • Q: My "Cyberse Magician" is face-up in my Monster Zone, and my opponent's "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" is in the Extra Monster Zone. At the start of my Battle Phase, my opponent activates the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", targeting "Cyberse Magician". If "Book of Moon" is chained and "Cyberse Magician" is changed to face-down Defense Position, how does the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" resolve?
A: The effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" that is activated at the start of the Battle Phase will resolve normally even if the targeted monster is changed to face-down Defense Position. In this scenario, you cannot declare an attack with any monster unless that "Cyberse Magician" declares an attack first, and that "Cyberse Magician" is destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase if it did not declare an attack.[4]
After the effect resolves, if "Book of Moon" is activated and "Cyberse Magician" is changed to face-down Defense Position, what happens?
A: Even if a monster targeted with the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" is changed to face-down Defense Position after the effect resolves, it is still the first monster that can declare an attack during this Battle Phase. (In this scenario, if you are unable to declare an attack with that "Cyberse Magician", you cannot declare attacks with any other monsters.) However, even if you did not declare an attack with that "Cyberse Magician", it will not be destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase.[5]
  • Q: My "Vampire Genesis" and "Pyramid Turtle" are face-up in my Monster Zone, and my opponent's "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" is in the Extra Monster Zone. At the start of my Battle Phase, my opponent activates the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", targeting my "Vampire Genesis". If my "Vampire Genesis" declares an attack but the attack is negated by "Magic Cylinder", can "Pyramid Turtle" declare an attack?
A: The effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" that is activated at the start of the Battle Phase is one that makes it so that the targeted monster must declare an attack first during this Battle Phase, and in this scenario, if that monster declares an attack but the attack is negated, your other monsters can still attack.[6]
  • Q: My "Ancient Gear Howitzer" and my opponent's "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" are in the Extra Monster Zones, and my "Ancient Gear Golem" in the Main Monster Zone. At the start of my Battle Phase, my opponent activates the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", targeting my "Ancient Gear Golem". In this situation, can my "Ancient Gear Howitzer", which is unaffected by other cards' effects, declare an attack?
A: The effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" that is activated at the start of the Battle Phase is one that makes it so that the targeted monster must declare an attack first during this Battle Phase. If you declare an attack in this scenario, the monster you must attack first with is the targeted monster ("Ancient Gear Golem" in this case). You cannot attack first with "Ancient Gear Howitzer" even though it is unaffected by other cards' effects, and if you did not declare an attack with the targeted monster, it is destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase.[7]
  • Q: My "Kikinagashi Fucho" and my opponent's "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" are in the Extra Monster Zones. At the start of my Battle Phase, my opponent activates the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", targeting "Kikinagashi Fucho". In this situation, if I do not declare an attack with "Kikinagashi Fucho", will it be destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase?
A: The part of the effect of "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle" that destroys the targeted monster at the end of the Battle Phase if it did not declare an attack is an effect applied to that monster. Therefore, since "Kikinagashi Fucho" is unaffected by other cards' effects, it is not destroyed at the end of the Battle Phase if it did not declare an attack, and remains on the field.[8]
