Card Rulings:Fake Feather
OCG Rulings
- The effect cannot target "Fake Feather".[1]
- This card cannot be activated during the Damage Step.[1]
- If you activate "Fake Feather" and target "Blast with Chain" or "Metalmorph", then the effect will resolve, but "Fake Feather" will not remain on the field.[2]
- If "Fake Feather" targets a Normal Trap Card that targets, then "Fake Feather" targets both the Normal Trap Card in your opponent's Graveyard and the card that the Normal Trap Card would normally target. For example, if "Fake Feather" is activated and targets both "Reinforcements" and "Spirit Reaper", "Spirit Reaper" will destroy itself because it was targeted by "Fake Feather".[3]
TCG Rulings
Konami Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[5] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
- Sending a “Blackwing” monster to the Graveyard is a cost to activate this effect. This effect targets 1 Normal Trap Card.[4]
- The activation timing of the selected Normal Trap Card has to be appropriate for the time "Fake Feather" was activated.[4]
- If the effect of the copied Normal Trap Card targets, you have to select the target for the copied effect when "Fake Feather" resolves. In this case, “Fake Feather” targets the Normal Trap Card, as well as the target for the effect.
- (Example: If you activate “Fake Feather” and target “Reinforcements,” then target “Spirit Reaper,” “Fake Feather” targets both cards, so “Spirit Reaper” is destroyed.)[4]
- You cannot activate “Fake Feather” during the Damage Step.[4]

Rules posted online will be limited to super-complicated and really weird situations. Imagine going down to a dozen pages of card rules, instead of a thousand. It could happen.
