OCG Rulings

  • "You cannot Summon/Set monsters to a zone this card points to" is not treated as an effect.[1]
  • The monster effect "Once per turn, if a monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned, to a zone(s) this card points to (except during the Damage Step): You can destroy 1 monster this card points to, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent" is a Trigger Effect.[1]
  • The application of "destroy 1 monster this card points to" and the application of "inflict 500 damage to your opponent" are treated as being done at the same time.[1]
  • The monster effect "When a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 monster; negate the activation" is a Quick Effect. (Tributing a monster in your Monster Zone is a cost to activate this effect. It can be activated even during the Damage Step.)[1]
  • The monster effect "negate the activation" does not target. The effect can be activated in chain when "Flash Charge Dragon" itself is targeted by a monster effect, a Spell/Trap Card is activated that targets "Flash Charge Dragon" itself, or a Spell/Trap effect is activated that targets "Flash Charge Dragon" itself.[1]

Q&A Rulings

A: In this scenario, "Flash Charge Dragon" is in your center Main Monster Zone and is linked to your "Sky Striker Ace - Hayate", and you cannot Special Summon a new monster from the Extra Deck to another Main Monster Zone. In addition, since "Flash Charge Dragon" prevents you from placing monsters in the zones it points to, you also cannot Special Summon any monsters from the Extra Deck to the Extra Monster Zone. Therefore, in this case, you cannot Link Summon "Firewall Dragon" using "Flash Charge Dragon" and "Sky Strike Ace - Hayate" as materials.[2]
  • Q: My "Flash Charge Dragon" is in the Extra Monster Zone, and there is a monster on my opponent's field that is not linked to any monster. In this situation, if I activate the effect of "Wattkinetic Puppeteer", can I move the opponent's monster to a zone that my "Flash Charge Dragon" points to?
A: "Flash Charge Dragon" prevents you from placing monsters in the zones it points to, but this does not apply to moving monsters that are already on the field to a new Main Monster Zone, so you can move your opponent's monster to a zone "Flash Charge Dragon" points to with the effect of "Wattkinetic Puppeteer".[3]
A: "Flash Charge Dragon" prevents you from placing monsters in the zones it points to, but when an opponent's monster banished by the effect of your "Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" returns to their field, it is your opponent who chooses which Main Monster Zone it is placed in. Even if your "Flash Charge Dragon" is in the Extra Monster Zone, your opponent is not prevented from placing the returning monster in any particular Main Monster Zone.[4]
