OCG Rulings

  • This card's effect, that Tributes your "Gouki" monster and adds its ATK to another of your "Gouki" monsters, is a Quick Effect. (This effect targets 1 face-up "Gouki" monster in your Monster Zone. You can also target "Gouki Twistcobra" itself for this effect).[1]
  • If this effect is to be activated during the Damage Step, it can be activated from the start of the Damage Step, up until Damage calculation.[1]
  • The cost to activate this card's effect is Tributing 1 "Gouki" monster you control. (You can even Tribute a face-down Defense Position "Gouki" monster, or "Gouki Twistcobra" itself, for the cost).[1]
  • This card's effect, that adds a "Gouki" card to your hand if sent to the GY, is a Trigger Effect that activates in the GY. (It does not target. This effect can activated even during the Damage Step).[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: If I activate the first effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" by Tributing a "Gouki Riscorpio", whose original ATK was halved to 1150 by the effect of "Shrink", how much ATK will the targeted monster gain?
A: The original ATK described in the effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" is the printed ATK of the Tributed monster. Therefore, since "Gouki Riscorpio" was Tributed, the targeted monster gains 2300 ATK.[2]
  • Q: A Defense Position "Gouki Suprex" and an Attack Position "Gouki Twistcobra" are face-up on my field. During the Damage Step in which my opponent's "Cyberse Wizard" is attacking my "Gouki Suprex", can I activate the effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" by Tributing the battling "Gouki Suprex"?
A: Even in this scenario, when activating the effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" during the Damage Step, you can Tribute the battling "Gouki Suprex". In this case, damage calculation is not performed and the Damage Step ends, but the effect of "Gouki Twistcobra" is applied normally.[3]
