Q&A Rulings

A: In this scenario, since the effect of "Invoked Caliga" is applying, if you have already activated a monster effect while that effect was applying, you cannot activate the effect of "Paleozoic Opabinia".[1]
  • Q: "Invoked Caliga" is face-up on my field, and its effect that allows each player to activate only 1 monster effect per turn is applying. In this situation, my opponent activates a monster effect, but I chain "Divine Wrath" to negate the activation and destroy that monster. Afterward, can my opponent activate another monster effect this turn?
A: As in this scenario, if your opponent activated a monster effect, but the activation was negated by "Divine Wrath", the effect of "Invoked Caliga" will still prevent your opponent from activating a monster effect again that turn.[2]
A: The part of the effect of "Invoked Caliga" that only allows each player to attack with 1 monster per Battle Phase is not applied to the monsters on the field. In this scenario, since "Invoked Caliga" already attacked, "Paleozoic Anomalocaris" cannot attack during the same Battle Phase.[3]
A: In this scenario, if "Skill Drain" is destroyed by the effect of "Mystical Space Typhoon", the effect of "Invoked Caliga" will begin applying again. Since "Invoked Caliga" already attacked, "Invoked Purgatrio" will not be able to attack and its attack ends. (Damage calculation is not performed.)[4]
A: In this scenario, if "Skill Drain" is destroyed by the effect of "Mystical Space Typhoon", the effect of "Invoked Caliga" will begin applying again. Since you already activated the effect of "Shaddoll Squamata" this turn, the effect of "Shaddoll Beast" will be the second monster effect that you activated this turn. However, while the effect of "Invoked Caliga" only allows each player to activate a monster effect once per turn, effects that have already been activated are not negated. Therefore, the effect of "Shaddoll Beast" is applied normally, but you will not be able to activate any more monster effects this turn.[5]
A: In this scenario, even if your monster’s attack was negated, the effect of "Invoked Caliga" prevents you from attacking with any more monsters. (Since "Invoked Purgatrio" declared an attack, "Invoked Caliga" cannot attack during this Battle Phase.)[6]
