Q&A Rulings

  • Q: My monster and my opponent's monster are in the same column. In this situation, if I activate "Harpie's Feather Duster" in the Spell & Trap Zone in that same column, can I chain the effect of a "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" in my hand that Special Summons it?
A: In this scenario, when you activate a Normal Spell Card and place it in a Spell & Trap Zone, and it becomes the third card in that column, you can chain the effect of a "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" in your hand. In that case, the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" that destroys all cards in its own column when Special Summoned will activate in a new Chain after that Chain resolves.[1]
  • Q: If "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" is in a column that includes an Extra Monster Zone, can that Extra Monster Zone be used?
A: While the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" is applying, neither player can use unused Zones in its own column. If "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" is in a column that includes an Extra Monster Zone, players cannot use that Extra Monster Zone along with the Main Monster Zones and Spell & Trap Zones in that column.[2]
A: While the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" is applying, neither player can use unused Zones in its own column. As in this scenario, if a "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" on the field moves to a different Main Monster Zone, the Zones that become unusable due to its effect change. (In this scenario, the Main Monster Zones and Spell & Trap Zones on your far left become usable again, while the Zones in the middle column become unusable.)[3]
  • Q: I Special Summon "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" with its own effect to my leftmost Main Monster Zone, and activate its effect that destroys all other cards in its column. If my opponent chains "Enemy Controller" and takes control of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton", placing it in the center column, how does its effect resolve?
A: When the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" resolves, it destroys all other cards in the column it is currently in. In this scenario, since "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" changes control due to the effect of "Enemy Controller", its effect resolves while it is in the center column, and all other cards in the center column are destroyed. (Even so, "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" itself is not destroyed.)[4]
  • Q: When activating the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" that Special Summons it from my hand, if my opponent chains "Emergency Provisions" and sends cards from their Spell & Trap Zone to the GY so that there are no longer 3 or more cards in a single column, what happens?
A: As in this scenario, even if there are no longer 3 or more cards in a single column when the effect of "Iron Dragon Tiamaton" resolves, it is Special Summoned normally.[5]
