Card Rulings:Malefic Paradox Gear
OCG Rulings
- The effect that Special Summons 1 "Malefic Parallel Gear" from your Deck is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target. Tributing the face-up "Malefic Paradox Gear" in your Monster Zone is a cost to activate this effect.)[1]
- Special Summoning 1 "Malefic Parallel Gear" from your Deck and adding 1 "Malefic" monster other than "Malefic Paradox Gear" from your Deck to your hand are not considered to happen at the same time.[1]
- The effect that allows you to banish this card to Special Summon a "Malefic" monster from your hand is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect.[1]
- If you apply this effect, you can Special Summon a "Malefic" monster from your hand even if the monster listed on it is not in your Deck or Extra Deck. (For example, even if "Malefic Cyber End Dragon" [sic] is not in your Extra Deck, you can Special Summon "Malefic Cyber End Dragon" from your hand by banishing "Malefic Paradox Gear".)[1]
- Q: Can you activate the effect of "Malefic Paradox Gear" if you control no Field Spell Cards in your Field Zone and your opponent controls a face-up Field Spell Card in their Field Zone?
- A: You can activate the effect of "Malefic Paradox Gear" that Special Summons 1 "Malefic Parallel Gear" from your Deck even if only your opponent controls a face-up Field Spell Card in their Field Zone.[2]
- Q: While the effect of "Skill Drain" is applying, can you Special Summon "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" by banishing a face-up "Malefic Paradox Gear" from your Monster Zone?
- A: If the effects of a face-up "Malefic Paradox Gear" in your Monster Zone are negated, you cannot apply the effect that allows you to banish that card to Special Summon a "Malefic" monster. Therefore, when you Special Summon "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your hand, you Special Summon it by banishing 1 "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" from your Deck.[3]
- Q: During the turn "Malefic Paradox Gear" was banished by "Called by the Grave, can you Special Summon "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" by banishing a "Malefic Paradox Gear" from your Monster Zone or Graveyard?
- A: If "Malefic Paradox Gear" is banished by "Called by the Grave" and the effect of "Called by the Grave" is applying, the effects of a face-up "Malefic Paradox Gear" in your Monster Zone are negated, and you cannot apply the effect that allows you to banish that card to Special Summon a "Malefic" monster.
Also, since the effects of "Malefic Paradox Gear" that are applied in the Graveyard are not negated by "Called by the Grave", you can apply its effect and Special Summon "Malefic Blue-Eyes White Dragon" by banishing "Malefic Paradox Gear".[4]
