• Blackwing - Shura the Blue Flame

CLARIFICATION:

• The effect of “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” activates when monsters are destroyed and sent to the Graveyard at the end of the Damage Step. This is the same timing as the effects of cards like “Hydrogeddon,” “Blue Thunder T-45,” “Goyo Guardian,” and “Elemental Hero Flame Wingman” [sic].
• In order for its effect to activate, “Blackwing – Shura the Blue Flame” must be face-up on the field when the monster it destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard. This means:
  • If Shura and the other monster destroy each other by battle (equal ATK), Shura’s effect does not activate.
  • If Shura is destroyed by a Flip Effect like “Man-Eater Bug,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
  • If Shura is flipped face-down after damage calculation by a card effect, such as “Desertapir,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
  • If Shura is removed from play [sic] by battling “D.D. Warrior,” Shura’s effect does not activate.
  • If Shura is destroyed by an effect after the monster it destroyed by battle was sent to the Graveyard, such as “Michizure,” Shura’s effect DOES activate, and you can Special Summon a monster.
• NOTE: These rules also apply to any other monster with the text “When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard….” (Examples: “Hydrogeddon,” “Goyo Guardian,” or “Elemental Hero Flame Wingman” [sic].)
• These rules do NOT apply to monsters with the text “When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle….” (but does not specify “and sends it to the Graveyard”). (Example: “Blue Thunder T-45”.) Monsters with that text will activate their effects in ALL of the above scenarios.

OCG Rulings

• "Must be Special Summoned with "Mask Change" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. […] You can only use this effect of "Masked HERO Anki" once per turn" is not treated as an effect.

• The monster effect "This card can attack your opponent directly, but when it does so using this effect, the battle damage inflicted to your opponent is halved" is a Continuous Effect. (Even if there is a monster on the opponent's field, it can attack directly.)

• The monster effect "When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Change" Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck to your hand" is a Trigger Effect. (It does not target. It can optionally be activated, at the end of the Damage Step.)

• It can only be Special Summoned by the effect of "Mask Change", "Mask Change II", or "Form Change". Even after if it has been Special Summoned once, "Masked HERO Anki" cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard by "Monster Reborn" etc.

• If "Forbidden Chalice" is activated during the Battle Step and negates the effect of "Masked HERO Anki", because it can no longer attack directly, a replay occurs. (The player can choose to either attack a monster on the opponent's field or cancel the attack.) Also, if "Forbidden Chalice" is activated during the Damage Step and negates the effect of "Masked HERO Anki", a replay does not occur and the direct attack is conducted as normal. Furthermore, because the effect of "Masked HERO Anki" is negated, the battle damage inflicted to the opponent by the direct attack is not halved.

• If "Masked HERO Anki" attacked directly due to its effect "This card can attack your opponent directly, but when it does so using this effect, the battle damage inflicted to your opponent is halved", the battle damage it inflicts is halved. However, if there are no monsters on the opponent's field and "Masked HERO Anki" attacks directly, the battle damage is not halved.

• If "Masked HERO Anki" battles and "destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard", its effect can be activated during either player's turn.

• If the opponent activates "Dimension Wall" when "Masked HERO Anki" declares a direct attack using its own effect, due to the effect of "Dimension Wall" the battle damage from the direct attack of "Masked HERO Anki" is inflicted to the player instead of the opponent. In that case, because the battle damage is not inflicted to the opponent, the damage is inflicted to the player normally. (It is not halved.)

• A "The Prime Monarch" that is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard is only treated as a Trap Card. If "Masked HERO Anki" destroys a "The Prime Monarch" treated as a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, since "Masked HERO Anki" did not "[destroy] an opponent's monster by battle and [send] it to the Graveyard", the effect "You can add 1 "Change" Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck to your hand" cannot be activated.

• When "Masked HERO Anki" destroys a monster on the opponent's field that the player owns by battle, the effect "When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Change" Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck to your hand" can be activated.

• When "Masked HERO Anki" destroys a Pendulum Monster by battle and that Pendulum Monster is added to the Extra Deck, the effect "When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Change" Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck to your hand" cannot be activated. The Pendulum Monster destroyed by battle with "Masked HERO Anki" was added to the Extra Deck and not sent to the Graveyard.

Mentions in Other Rulings

• Stardust Re-Spark: An opponent's "Masked HERO Anki" attacks you directly while you have 1500 LP. The attacking "Masked HERO Anki" has 2800 ATK. Because your LP is 1500, "When an opponent's Special Summoned monster declares a direct attack, if its ATK is greater than or equal to your LP" is met. Therefore, you can activate "Stardust Re-Spark".

• Gentlemander: While the effect "Your opponent cannot attack any monsters except this one" of "Gentlemander" is applying, other monsters, including face-down Defense Position monsters, cannot be attacked. If there are 2 "Gentlemander" on the field, no monsters can be attacked, including those "Gentlemander". Therefore, if a monster has the effect "This card can attack your opponent directly" such as "Masked HERO Anki" etc. it can attack the opponent directly, but other monsters cannot attack a monster or the opponent directly.
