Q&A Rulings

  • Q: If I activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" that Special Summons a "Mecha Phantom Beast Token" this turn, can I activate that effect again during the same turn?
A: Even if you already activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" this turn, if you have other cards in your hand to discard for its cost, you can activate the effect multiple times.[1]
  • Q: If I activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" that Special Summons a "Mecha Phantom Beast Token" this turn, can I activate "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" during the same turn?
A: The Special Summon performed by the effect of "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" is treated as an Xyz Summon using the targeted Xyz Monster as material, so if you activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" this turn, "Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack" is the only monster that can be targeted with "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force". You cannot activate "Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force" unless there is an appropriate Xyz Monster to Special Summon from your Extra Deck using "Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack" as the material.[2]
A: When Special Summoning "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon", the "Cyber Dragon" and other Machine-Type monsters are sent to the Graveyard as Fusion Materials, but the Special Summon is not a Fusion Summon. Therefore, even if you activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" this turn, you can Special Summon "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon".[3]
  • Q: I activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" that Special Summons a "Mecha Phantom Beast Token" this turn. During the same turn, can I activate "Necroid Synchro"?
A: The Special Summon performed by the effect of "Necroid Synchro" is treated as a Synchro Summon, but the monsters banished from your Graveyard are not considered Synchro Materials for that Summon. Therefore, even if you activated the effect of "Mecha Phantom Beast Raiten" this turn, you can activate "Necroid Synchro". (It is not necessary to banish “Mecha Phantom Beast” monsters from your Graveyard with its effect.)[4]
A: In both situations, you can Special Summon those monsters by sending materials to the GY. Monsters sent to the GY as part of the Summoning procedure written in the text of "Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" and "Chimeratech Megafleet Dragon" are treated as Fusion Materials, but not treated as materials for a Fusion Summon.[5][6]
