Card Rulings:Metaphys Dimension
OCG Rulings
- The activation of only the card "Metaphys Dimension" can done at any time except during the Damage Step.[1]
- The effect ""If your opponent Special Summon a monster(s), except during the Damage Step: You can target 1 of your banished "Metaphys" monsters; Special Summon it, but banish it during the End Phase of the next turn (even if this card leaves the field)" makes a Chain Link. (This effect targets 1 of your banished "Metaphys" monsters. It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
- The effect ""Special Summon it" can be activated in the same Chain Link as the activation of the card "Metaphys Dimension". (Even in that case, it cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
- When ""banish it during the End Phase of the next turn (even if this card leaves the field)" is applied, it does not make a Chain Link.[1]
- The effect "If another "Metaphys" card(s) you own and possess is banished while this card is face-up on the field (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 card your opponent controls; banish it" makes a Chain Link. (It targets 1 card on your opponent's field. It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
- The effect "banish it" can be activated if your "Metaphys" card(s) is banished while "Metaphys Dimension" is face-up in your Spell & Trap Zone. (This effect cannot be activated in the same Chain Link as the card "Metaphys Dimension".)[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: I Special Summoned a "Metaphys Armed Dragon" with the effect of "Metaphys Dimension" this turn. Afterward, if my opponent activates "Mystical Space Typhoon" and destroys "Metaphys Dimension", is "Metaphys Armed Dragon" still banished during the End Phase of the next turn?
- A: In this scenario, if "Metaphys Dimension" is destroyed after "Metaphys Armed Dragon" was already Special Summoned by its effect, it is banished during the End Phase of the next turn as usual.[2]
- Q: When my opponent activates "Monster Reborn" and Special Summons a "Metaphys Daedalus" from my Graveyard, I activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" and banish it. In this case, can I activate the second effect of a face-up "Metaphys Dimension" on my field?
- A: The second effect of "Metaphys Dimension" can be activated when a "Metaphys" card in your possession is banished. Therefore, in this scenario, you cannot activate the effect of "Metaphys Dimension".[3]
- Q: I activate "Pot of Desires" and banish 10 cards from the top of my Deck, including "Asymmetaphys" and "Metaphys Nephthys". In this case, if "Metaphys Dimension" is face-up on my field, can I activate its effect that targets and banishes 1 card on my opponent's field?
- A: The second effect of "Metaphys Dimension" cannot be activated when a card is banished face-down. (You cannot activate the effect even if "Metaphys" cards are included in the cards that were banished face-down.)[4]
- Q: I activate "Soul Charge" and Special Summon a "Metaphys Tyrant Dragon" and "Mystery Shell Dragon" from my Graveyard, but my opponent activates "Bottomless Trap Hole" and banishes both monsters. In this case, if "Metaphys Dimension" is face-up on my field, can I activate its effect that targets and banishes 1 card on my opponent's field?
- A: Even if your "Metaphys" cards and non-"Metaphys" cards are banished at the same time, you can activate the second effect of "Metaphys Dimension."[5]
