Q&A Rulings

  • Q: I Link Summon a "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" to my Extra Monster Zone. If there is a "World Chalice" monster in an opponent's Main Monster Zone in the same column, can I activate the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" that draws cards?
A: In this scenario, when "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" is Special Summoned to the Extra Monster Zone and there is a "World Chalice" monster on your opponent's side of the field linked to it, you can activate its effect that draws cards.[1]
A: If "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" is no longer on the field when its effect resolves, there will be no "World Chalice" monsters that it points to, so you do not draw any cards.[2]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" that sends a card on each side of the field to the Graveyard. When it resolves, what happens if I choose a "Paleozoic Anomalocaris" on my field as one of the cards to send to the Graveyard?
A: In this scenario, since "Paleozoic Anomalocaris" is unaffected by monster effects, it is not sent to the Graveyard by the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior". In this case, the opponent's chosen card is sent to the Graveyard normally.[3]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" that sends 1 card from each side of the field to the Graveyard. When the effect resolves, can I choose a Pendulum Monster on either my field or my opponent's field?
A: A Pendulum Monster can be chosen when resolving the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior". The Pendulum Monster is added face-up to the Extra Deck instead of being sent to the Graveyard. Even so, the other chosen card is sent to the Graveyard normally.[4]
  • Q: I activate the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" that sends 1 card from each side of the field to the Graveyard. When the effect resolves, can I choose a Token monster on either my field or my opponent's field?
A: A Token can be chosen when resolving the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior". The Token disappears when it leaves the field. Even so, the other chosen card is sent to the Graveyard normally.[5]
  • Q: I Link Summoned a "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" to a Main Monster Zone pointed to by my "Link Spider", and on either side of it are "Chosen by the World Chalice" and "Crowned by the World Chalice". In this situation, when I activate the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" that draws a card for each “World Chalice” monster it points to, but my opponent chains "Book of Moon" and changes "Chosen by the World Chalice" to face-down Defense Position, how does the effect resolve?
A: The effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" activates when it is Link Summoned, and when it resolves you draw 1 card for each face-up “World Chalice” monster it points to. In this scenario, when the effect of "Ningirsu the World Chalice Warrior" resolves, "Crowned by the World Chalice" is the only face-up “World Chalice” monster it points to, so you draw 1 card.[6]
