Card Rulings:Pandemonium
OCG Rulings
- The effect "Neither player has to pay Life Points during the Standby Phase for "Archfiend" monsters" does not make a Chain Link.[1]
- You do not have to pay LP for the maintenance cost of "Archfiend" monsters during the Standby Phase. (You can also pay LP as normal.)[1]
- The effect "Each time a player's "Archfiend" monster(s) is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, except by battle, that player can add 1 "Archfiend" monster from their Deck to their hand that is a lower Level than the destroyed card" makes a Chain Link. (It does not target. It cannot be activated during the Damage Step.)[1]
- When an "Archfiend" monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, except by battle, that monster's owner can activate the effect "that player can add 1 "Archfiend" monster from their Deck to their hand that is a lower Level than the destroyed card." (If your opponent's "Archfiend" monster is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, except by battle, your opponent can apply the effect of your "Pandemonium".)[1]
- While you control "Archfiend of Gilfer" and "Pandemonium", if "Archfiend of Gilfer" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by the effect of "Snipe Hunter", since the timing for "Archfiend of Gilfer" and "Pandemonium" effects occurs simultaneously, they can be activated in a Chain in any order.[2]
- The effect of "Pandemonium" cannot be activated when an "Archfiend" monster equipped to "Relinquished" is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by "Mystical Space Typhoon". (You can only activate the effect of "Pandemonium" if the "Archfiend" monster is destroyed while being treated as a monster.)[3]
- If "Mist Archfiend" is Normal Summoned without Tribute by its own effect, and during the End Phase it is destroyed, you can activate the effect of "Pandemonium".[4]
- Even if the "Archfiend" monster was destroyed while in the hand or Deck, you can activate the effect of "Pandemonium".[5]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[6] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - You can't use "Pandemonium" to add a Fusion Monster Archfiend or Synchro Monster Archfiend from the Extra Deck to your hand, like "Fiend Skull Dragon" or "Red Dragon Archfiend".
- If multiple Archfiends are destroyed at the same time by "Raigeki", you can only add 1 Archfiend from your Deck to your hand with "Pandemonium".
- When your Archfiends controlled by your opponent are sent to your Graveyard, you can add an Archfiend from your Deck to your hand with "Pandemonium".
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Archfiend General: If this monster is attacked while in face-down Defense Position, and "Pandemonium" is not in play, this monster will be destroyed by its effect after Damage Calculation.
- Battle-Scarred: If "Battle-Scarred" and "Pandemonium" are both active, neither player has to pay for Archfiend costs or for "Battle-Scarred".
- Desrook Archfiend: While "Pandemonium" is active, and you have "Desrook Archfiend" in your hand, and your "Terrorking Archfiend" is destroyed while on the field, "Pandemonium" is Step 1 of a chain , but you can use "Desrook Archfiend" as Step 2 of the chain. Then you would get to Special Summon the "Terrorking Archfiend" and select a Level 3 or lower Archfiend from your Deck.
- Huge Revolution: If your opponent activates "Huge Revolution" and you have "Pandemonium Watchbear" and "Pandemonium", your "Pandemonium" card is not destroyed.
- Mazera DeVille: If you Special Summon "Mazera DeVille", his effect activates, and your opponent chains "Mystical Space Typhoon" to destroy "Pandemonium" in a chain, Mazera Deville"'s [sic] effect disappears because his effect needs "Pandemonium" on the field when the effect resolves, not just when it activates (just like "The Agent of Judgment - Saturn").
- Mist Archfiend: The effect of "Pandemonium" can be activated when "Mist Archfiend" is destroyed by its own effect.
- Pandemonium Watchbear: When your opponent activates "Huge Revolution" while your "Pandemonium Watchbear" is on your side of the field, your "Pandemonium" will not be destroyed.
- Pandemonium Watchbear: When your "Pandemonium" is going to be destroyed by "Mystical Space Typhoon", you can chain "Ceasefire" to flip your "Pandemonium Watchbear" face-up, and "Pandemonium" will not be destroyed.
