Card Rulings:Parasite Paracide
Contents
OCG Rulings
- The "Put this card face-up in your opponent's Deck and shuffle it." effect is a Trigger Effect that is activated when "Parasite Paracide" is flipped face-up. (It does not target. It can be activated during the the Damage Step.)[1]
- If "Parasite Paracide" is flipped and will be destroyed by battle, the effect activates, but the effect is not applied. (It is not shuffled into your opponent's Deck.)[1]
- The "When your opponent draws this card, it is Special Summoned to their side of the field in face-up Defense Position, and inflicts 1000 damage to them." effect is a Trigger Effect that is activated from the hand. (After "Parasite Paracide" is shuffled into the opponent's Deck by its own effect, this effect activates when your opponent draws this card.)[1]
- The "Then, while this card is face-up on the field, all monsters your opponent controls become Insect-Type monsters." effect is a Continuous Effect. (It is applied if your opponent draws "Parasite Paracide" and it is Special Summoned. Monsters controlled by the player that Special Summoned "Parasite Paracide" are treated as Insect-Type monsters.)[1]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[2] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. - Convulsion of Nature: If a "Parasite Paracide" is face-up in your Deck before this card is activated, it will become face-down once this card is active. Its effect will still activate when it is drawn.
- Crystal Seer: If your opponent's "Parasite Paracide" is among the card's you pick up with the effect of "Crystal Seer", you can add that card to your hand.
- Exchange of the Spirit: If "Parasite Paracide" is face-up in a Deck when "Exchange of the Spirit" resolves, it will be sent to its owner's Graveyard.

- Jade Insect Whistle: A face-up "Parasite Paracide" can be selected with "Jade Insect Whistle".
- Prohibition: After your "Parasite Paracide" is shuffled into your opponent's Deck by its effect, if "Prohibition" is activated and declares "Parasite Paracide", when your opponent draws "Parasite Paracide" its effect is applied because its Flip Effect had already resolved.
- Remove Brainwashing: When "Remove Brainwashing" is activated, monsters like "Lava Golem" & "Parasite Paracide" will return to their owner's side of the field, monsters revived with "Monster Reborn" return to their owner's side of the field, monsters taken with "Exchange" and played normally return to their owner's side of the field, etc.
- Rivalry of Warlords: When "Rivalry of Warlords" is active, and you change the Type of all of your monsters with "DNA Surgery" or "Parasite Paracide" or "D. Tribe", you now only have 1 Type so you are OK and no monsters are destroyed [sic], and you can also Summon, Flip Summon, and Special Summon additional monsters that do not have that printed Type on the card and they will be considered that Type and are not destroyed [sic].[Notes 1]
- Senri Eye: You can use the effect of "Senri Eye" if the top card on the Deck is face-up (due to "Convulsion of Nature" or "Parasite Paracide"), and in that case you don't hide the card from your opponent.
- The Last Warrior from Another Planet: If your "Parasite Paracide" in your opponent's Deck is drawn, it is not Special Summoned. It is instead destroyed and sent to your Graveyard, and no damage is dealt.
