- Brain Research Lab: You cannot place a Psychic Counter on this card to activate the effect of a card like “Psychic Commander.”
OCG Rulings
- Paying Life Points is a cost to activate the effect. This effect targets your opponent's monster.[1]
- You cannot activate this effect multiple times during the same Damage Step (i.e., you cannot pay 500 LP twice during a single Damage Step for a total of -1000 ATK). However, you can activate it multiple times if there are multiple battles involving Psychic-Type monsters.[2]
- You cannot activate the effect of "Psychic Commander" or the ATK-increasing effect of a "The Winged Dragon of Ra" affected by "DNA Surgery" by instead placing a Psychic Counter on "Brain Research Lab" instead of paying Life Points. However, you can activate the effect of "The Winged Dragon of Ra" which destroys a monster by placing a Psychic Counter on "Brain Research Lab" instead of paying 1000 Life Points.[3]
